Gooble Gooble

Is this not the cutest turkey ever!! He is beggin you to spare his friends tomorrow and Eat Ham or Eat Beef :) LOL I don't know how I landed there last night, but Connie has kreated a wonderful video tutorial on how to make these little 'Toms' using the Sweet Centers set and I just had to share! I wish I had found it sooner!! First thing this AM I got started and I'll have to make a few more for the kids at the table tomorrow. They are so cute and pretty easy to do if you have all the right punches. I added feet using the Boho Blossom punch and using my Signo White Gel pen, added a little detail to the feathers. So I'll stop typing so you can get started kreating. Have fun with these!

I am finally getting a chance to post my PPA17 challenge card to you all. Life has not been easy lately in this household, a lot of bad bugs attacking my kids, but this too shall pass, they are relatively healthy kids, so I guess we were due for more than a sniffle (it seems they've had everything in just a few weeks, so I say we've met our quota for the winter!! LOL)... And the craziness of the Holidays begins. I love this time of year, but boy did it ever creep up on me fast!! Anyone with me?
OK, onto the card -
Margaret Moody kreates the most fabulous sketches. I do hope you will play along, a sketch really kick starts your 'kreative juices' :)
I kept this card clean and simple much like the layout.

* Started with a Bravo Burgundy card base. I just love this color lately - it is so rich and elegant for the holiday
* A piece of Very Vanilla was placed on my swirly Backgrounds I Texturz plate and run through the Big Shot
* 4 punched Bravo Burgundy Scallop Squares were a perfect fit for this layout
* A non-traditional way to spell out a word, but I liked it :) N-O-E-L was inked up using Bravo Burgundy Craft ink and Lovely Letters set. Each letter was sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and set/embossed with a heat tool.
* Each letter was punched out using a 1" Circle Punch and matted with Soft Suede 1-1/4" Punched Circles. Each Soft Suede circle was distressed with... yup, a Sponge Dauber, you know I love them, and Soft Suede ink.
* White Organza ribbon was easily transformed to Burgundy using a sponge and my ink pad. TIP: Let your ribbon dry for a few hours before placing on your card.
* A Clear Rhinestone Brad adds a very subtle bit of bling to the center of my bow.

Simple, but I do really like it :) Hope you do to! Make sure you check out my other Bravo Burgundy Christmas Cheer kreation and leave me a comment to be entered in my blog candy! I will announce the winner on Monday Nov 23rd!

Delightful Ornament in 3D

I just love the Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder found in the Holiday Mini. I've been using it so much with my holiday cards. It adds beautiful texture; such a pretty effect with little effort. Combine it with the adorable Ornament Punch and Delightful Decorations set(also in the Holiday Mini) and I have yet another festive card with minimal effort.

* Started with a Real Red standard card base
* Ran a piece of Whisper White and my Petals a Plenty folder through the Big Shot and layered that on top.
* Using a Sponge Dauber, I added some Frost White Shimmer Paint and a little Soft Suede to the embossed poinsettias.
* Grabbed my Ornament Punch and popped out an ornament in the lower corner. Offset the punch slightly and popped out a sliver more (this will give me enough room to place my 3-d ornament and allow the card to open)
* Inked up one of my ornaments from the Delightful Decorations set and stamped 3 images in Soft Suede onto Whisper White.
* Punch out the ornaments with the Ornament Punch. Added a red Fire Rhinestone to the center ornament. Fold other two ornaments in half and adhere half to the back of the center ornament - the 'back' half will adhere to your card base. I hope that makes sense
* With card closed, adhere your 3-d ornament through the front punch onto your card base.
* My sentiment from Many Merry Messages was inked in Real Red onto Whisper White. Using my Photo Corner Punch, popped out the edge to kreate my flag 'tails'. Of course I had to distress the edges with a bit of Soft Suede ink and a sponge dauber
* A 5/8" Real Red Grosgrain faux double bow finishes off the top.
* Inside the card, I used my Merry and Bright Rub-Ons (Holiday Mini) to kreate a quick message on a Soft Suede Punched Ornament.
* With my Signo White Gel Pen, I dotted in a hanger and bow. TIP: If you have trouble getting that gel pen rollin', simply roll the point across the back of your hand until the ink begins to flow a little. The oils on your skin will help it to get started.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek. Leave me a comment and let me know what ya think. Don't forget to scroll down to the next post where you will find some Blog Candy and a FREE SHIPPING Offer through me :)

Triple Play: 3 challenges, BLOG CANDY, and a surprise!

Wow, my 300th post and its my birthday. What are the chances? So that deserves a little celebration :) How 'bout a little blog candy and a surprise... but first let me tell you about todays kreation. I had good intentions to have my PPA challenge completed with the SCS color challenge AND SCS sketch challenge - triple play :) BUT, you never can predict when sickness strikes. Thankfully my daughter is back to her energetic self and no one else has been stricken by any bugs. Thank you to those that held us up in your prayers and sent me encouraging words during the week. I have to say a special thank you to one of my readers, Louise from Perth Australia who sent me such an endearing note and it really warmed my heart after a tough week. So thank you Louise!!

SO, Christmas Cheer with PPA, a VERY, BRAVO, KRAFT for CC244 and the sketch that follows... here is my interpretation of all three.
As usual, my camera doesn't capture the shimmer that was introduced to the embossed 'poinsettia' images using Champagne Shimmer paint, so you'll have to use your imagination a tad! :)
* Standard card base of Bravo Burgandy
* Layered with a piece of Kraft cardstock that was run through my Big Shot and embossed with the beautiful Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder. I repeated this with my Bravo Burgundy squares too.
* Using a Sponge Dauber and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, I lightly applied the shimmer to the raised petal images on both the Kraft and Burgundy paper - SO pretty!!
* Layered my Burgundy squares onto Very Vanilla which using a sponge dauber again and some Soft Suede ink, distressed the edges. Then distressed the edges of the Kraft cardstock as well. Followed my sketch (SCS254) and adhered my square panels to my card.
* For some PPA Christmas Cheer, what better set than Good Cheer, to ink up in Bravo Burgundy craft ink and emboss with my heat tool and Clear Embossing Powder.
* Colored in my image using my SU Markers, Creamy Caramel, Blush BlossomBravo Burgundy, Mellow Moss and Old Olive. TIP: My reindeer is only colored with Creamy Caramel. Color over the same area for a darker hue.
* I lightly went over the entire image with my Soft Suede dauber. And then distressed the edges with a combination of Creamy Caramel (was too creamy against the Kraft), Soft Suede and Bravo Burgundy. Additional gave the edges some shimmer was some more Champagne Shimmer Paint to the edges.
* A few Antique Brass eyelets where giving the perfect placement with the help of my Mat Pack (piercing pad and template).

Hope you enjoyed my triple play :)

Now lets celebrate. Here are some goodies for you. A retired set and wheel, an 'art by...' stamp, a skinny tin and some handmade goodies inside. Just leave me a comment by Sat Nov 21st and let me know what brings you Christmas Cheer? A winner will be announced Monday Nov 23rd.

Tag Box Tutorials

Well, sickness has struck my home again. My 5 year old has an icky stomach bug. I feel horrible that there is nothing I can do to relieve her discomfort. So I ask for your prayers that this is over soon (we are on day 3) and that the rest of us are spared!!
After quite a few requests, I will show you how I 'tweaked' the original tutorial found in my Christmas Punch Tags post. I kreated a VERY simple box base and lid. Thats all I really tweaked to make it a EASIER. Now maybe its not as sturdy, but it works fine and its EASY. Hey, did I mention, its EASY :) The dividers are trickier, but I know you can do it :) If you have a hard time with measurements (don't worry, until my engineer hubby wrote them all out for me, I was right with you), it will come with practice. I found this site for you (there may be better), Dr Math, where he helps you read your ruler. Print it out and have it handy until you've got the hang of it.
Without further ado...

* Start with a 6x6-1/2 piece of cardstock for your base. Score 3/4" around all sides
*At each corner, snip one score line to the score line intersection
*Place a strong adhesive on the 'flap' you snipped and adhere to kreate your 4 corners. TIP: I had used SNAIL, so I say strong adhesive because after about a week, some of my corners and folds popped open. Double sided tape such as Sticky Strip or Multipurpose Adhesive(this will take a little extra time as you'll need to hold it a few seconds while it dries and adheres together)
*You have your 'tweaked' box base. Very Simple!

Dividers (this is where the measuring gets tricky - these are from Tonya Allens tutorial)

*Cut 2 pieces of cardstock at 2-3/16 x 7-15/16
*Score each piece @ 1-1/2, 2-1/4, 3, 4-5/8, 5-3/8, 6-1/8
*At your score marks you will kreate a mountain fold and then adhere that fold to itself - kreating 3 spots for your tags per strip or 6 spots

*Cut an additional piece 5-1/8 x 1-1/2 (slightly tweaked). Score at 3/4" and adhere together. This becomes the center divider.

*Take each of your mountain fold pieces and set them in your box. There should be a sliver of space in between your 2 pieces. Then place your center strip into that 'sliver'. Your mountain fold pieces will need assistance of some adhesive to stay put on your box base. But do that after you've checked to make sure all fits well.

Acetate Lid - (tweaked from Tonya Allends slider lid) I didn't photo the acetate lid, too much glare. Follow the same idea as the box base with these measurements
*Using Window Sheets or transparency paper (local office supply) cut your lid to 6x5-1/2
*Score at 1/2" all around.
*Kreate your corners the same as our box: a little snip and adhere. TIP: Folding acetate/transparency sheets can be difficult. Make sure to really burnish the folds (using your bone folder or the back of your nail) so you have straight edges to your lid.

Place your decorative tags inside. Place your lid on and tie with a decorative bow.

Do you see the cute dangling Felt Flurries (item #113697)? These are discounted overstock product, and you can purchase them along with many other surplus items through my ONLINE store. Just click on SHOP NOW and then go to Clearance Rack

For the smaller box with the Delightful Decorations set and Ornament punch, I followed the same simple box base
*5x5 base and score 1/2" on all side
*2 pieces cut to 2" x 5" and scored @ 2", 2-1/2", 3" - kreate and adhere mountain folds
*1 piece (center divider)cut to 1" x 4"
For the Lid
* Cut acetate to 5-1/8" x 5-1/8" and score 1/2" around all sides
* Burnish the folds so you have straight edges and adhere your corners like above.

I hope this 'tweaked' version makes this a little simpler for you! If you'd like more details/supplies for my tags, click for Christmas Punch Tags or Delightful Decorations. Enjoy making your little Tag Gift boxes. Any questions, let me know, I'm just a click away!!

Thanksgiving/Fall Holiday Hop

Welcome to our second Holiday Hop. This group of talented Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators are ready to show off their paper crafting skills for Thanksgiving/Fall. We will showcase all that Stampin’ Up! has to offer – from rubber stamps, designer paper, embellishments, and much more. TIP: Save the date on your calendar for our next hop. You won’t want to miss out!
* Christmas/Winter – December 1, 2009

Hop How-To
You can follow the full Holiday Hop from start to finish by clicking the “next blog” or “previous blog” graphic at the end of this post. Or click on any of the sites listed below.
We’re thrilled to have you visit and excited to hear what you think of our hop. Feel free to leave as many comments as you’d like along the way. Happy Hopping

So when it is time to sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, does everyone stand around a few seconds to ask the host 'where should I sit?' I'm sure this must sound familiar! My solution, place cards. Fun, cute placecards :)

* Pop out 10 Wide Ovals in Dusty Durango. Using a Sponge Dauber, accent the edges with Soft Suede ink
* Fold Ovals in half and adhere 2 sets of 5 together
* Using a medium sized library clip, found at any office supply, adhere one set of Ovals onto the front of the clip using Glue Dots. Take the second set of 5 and adhere to the back of the clip - you now have a pumpkinish clip
* Using the Big Shot, Swirls Scribbles sizzlit die, and Handsome Hunter paper, I kreated my 'vines' for my pumpkin. If you don't have this as an option, stamp leaves and snip them out; or use the large oval punch, snip in half and crease in half to kreate a leaf. Or just using a piece of scrap kreate a little stem.

* Next kreate a tag to slip into the clip 'prongs'
* My tag was kreated using the Two Tags Die and running a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock through my Big Shot. I popped out 2.
* Each tag was distressed heavily along the edges with a Sponge Dauber and Soft Suede ink and lightly across the entire front
* Using the Wandering Words set and my In Color Markers, I colored directly onto my image for a variety of colors. Re-moistened the stamp with a huff of breath and stamped onto my tag. Cleaned my stamp and colored a few additional leaves for some extra foliage.
* On the second tag, after it had been distressed, I added my name using the Lovely Letters set in Soft Suede in. Colored only the leaves on my Wandering Words stamp and randomly stamped them around the name.
* Adhered both tags together back to back and there you have it, a cute little place card and holder.

Last years place cards were a cute little Tom Turkey, can you believe I didn't take a photo of them. But you can see Tom on the matching Napkin Rings I had done. Not that conversation is ever lacking Thanksgiving day, but a handmade item, what a conversation piece. Have fun kreating something festive for your table!

Well thanks so much for hopping by. If you've enjoyed the stop, won't you please take a moment to leave me a comment. Love to know your thoughts :) If you'd like to order any of the products featured in my projects, Order Online @ or email me. Any questions, I'm just a click away!

More Tags

This time I made tags using the Delightful Decorations set and Ornament punch found in the Holiday Mini. Not only will they be so cute on a package, but a cute little gift too! Scroll down to the next post to see tags kreated with the Lev 2 Hostess set, Christmas Punch. I rec'd a lot of requests for my 'tweaked' version of box and acetate lid. I will bring both box versions to you later this week :) I just need to get caught up after a weekend away.
*Ornament images were stamped in Soft Suede, Real Red, Old Olive and Bashful Blue onto Whisper White and then popped out with the Ornament Punch.
*Each ornament was also 'backed' with a Real Red punched out ornament.
*Using the 1/16" Circle Punch to pop out a hole in the neck of the ornament to thread some Gold Elastic Cord through.
*Tied each gold loop with a knotted 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon in Real Red, Old Olive, White, or Bashful Blue.
*Placed them in my 4 quadrant box (stay tune for directions at the end of the week!)
*Acetate lid and adorable Red Polka Dot Ribbon to hold this cute little package together.

*Kreated an additional gift tag using my Big Shot and Two Tags Die
*Ran my Whisper White tag back through the Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder
*Using my Crop a dile, placed a Jumbo Eyelet through the top
*Popped out an additional Real Red stamped Delightful Decoration ornament and adhered it with a dimensional to the front of my tag.
*The inside of the tag, a 'to: from:' and a Merry Christmas wish to my recipient.
Cute right?

Christmas Punch Tags

It's time for another challenge with the Pals. PPA15, a color challenge: Ruby Red, Taken with Teal and Going Gray. OK, I totally cheated: Ruby Red, Pacific Point (last years In Color - close(sorta) to Taken with Teal, right?) and Silver (its just a shiner gray) - well if I am being policed by my favorite Pals than I may be 'in trouble', but lets just run with it!! I'll take my chances :)
This set was a sample at my Tags Bags and Bows class using the hostess lev 2 Christmas Punch set, such a fun set. (you'll see the tags we made in my class in just a few days, promise). I couldn't wait to kreate one of these after seeing the sample in the current Idea Book and Catalog
*Each image was inked in either Pacific Point or Ruby Red and stamped onto Whisper White and popped out with its' coordinating punch. Some stamps were colored on directly with the corresponding markers in order to isolate specific colors on the stamp or images were colored in directly.
*Each image was then backed with a Ruby Red or Pacific Point coordinating punch and stamped with a 'to/from:' in this set. Some images were snipped out slightly to reveal an outline of the colored backing behind it.
*Of course I could not complete this project without a little extra festive glitz. Each tag glistens with a bit of Dazzling Diamonds. If you click to enlarge photo you may see this detail a bit better.
*My 1/16" punch kreated a tiny hole to slip my 'shiny gray' (Silver Cording) to tie off to kreate my tag. They all fit nice 'n snug in my little Pacific Point divider box. I left off the acetate lid as it was giving off a nasty glare - I'll have to try and take a picture during the day in some natural light. A big thanks to my pal Carla who sent me to Tonya Allens blog where she had directions for this box. I altered the directions to make them a bit easier to put together. Let me know if you'd like my 'tweaked' instruction :) These were so fun to put together and I'll be making quite a few more for little gifts.
Let me know what you think and shhhhh, don't tell anyone I cheated a bit with my colors :)

Holiday Bags

Monday night was my holiday Tags, Bags and Bows class. Thanks ladies, it was a fun night! I hate feeling like I am bypassing Thanksgiving, which I love, but Christmas is quickly approaching and there is much to be done. Anyone with me? So while there aren't too many non food preparations :) for Thanksgiving, we started some packaging preparations for Christmas. Its great to have some bags on hand to decorate. You can easily personalize a gift with a handmade bag for any occasion. Stamp, stencil, punch, wheel, its really quite easy!
I am loving using stencils from the definitely decorative catalog . I've been hoarding my Vintage Ornament Stencils for awhile, but with the holidays quickly approaching, I'm ready to play!! Wait until you see the fun projects I will be kreating with them :) Two of these bags I kreated using the Vintage Ornament Stencils with Bravo Burgandy, Soft Suede, Handsome Hunter, Gold Encore inks. Aren't they so pretty?? Although I'm not sure pictures really are doing them justice, so you'll just have to try one for yourself :)

The other bag, for those that were 'intimidated' by the stenciling, a simple punched out holly (thanks to the inspiration of Andrea Walford) and Gold Encore inked sentiment from the All Holiday set.

To kreate the holly:
* use the Wide Oval Punch - pop out 3 Handsome Hunter Ovals
* using the 1-1/4" Circle punch, take some 'bites' out of your oval
* using a Sponge Dauber, sponge Gold Encore ink around your leaf edges
* pop out 3 Real Red berries - OR add a little festive bling with 3 Circle Fire (red) Rhinestone Brads - oooh aaaah :)

Simple look, but still very pretty.
What do you think? Leave me a comment and let me know, I love it when you do :)

Have you checked out SU's Gift Giving Guide and promotion
my gift giving solution? With the holidays approaching, I want to remind you that my gift certificate service is available at any time for any occasion. I will mail you a custom designed card and gift certificate redeemable only through me. In a pinch, as long as your recipient has email, I can send off a virtual e-card gift certificate as well (24hr notice needed). OR complete a wish list and email it to me to keep on file, tell your loved ones to contact me and I will be sure you get what you wish for! Email me with any questions!
