Happy Harvest

This isn't quite what I had envisioned when I began this card, but became completely stumped for a layout. When my SIL and niece were here for a visit, I had stamped out a few images from Happy Blessings (Holiday Mini)set that she had ordered and figured when I got the chance I could play with it. As I said, not quite what I had envisioned, but I can't always be 100% happy with my kreation. It's just a little plain or something... I had really liked the way my image turned out after 'coloring' it in with Blender Pens and the rest is just ok. Really Rust base decorated with the Scallop Edge Punch and some More Mustard peeking out from beneath the scallops. The Whisper White with colored image (using SU stamp pads and Blender Pens) is torn and placed on a torn piece of More Mustard and then layered on Old Olive. TIP: Kreate a pool of ink in your SU lid by squeezing the closed pad in the center and upon opening, the lid will have a little pool of ink that you can dip your Blender Pen in and begin 'coloring'. My tag punch kreated my 'happy harvest' tag which is layered again with More Mustard and Old Olive and dangles from some linen thread. The Mat Pack and my paper piercer helped to add a bit more depth to the overall design. We are always our worst critics, but I hope it will inspire some of you.

Autumn Harvest

I got my inspiration from this past weeks sketch challenge, not exactly the same as the sketch, but it was the start to my inspiration as was this card by Lynn from The Queens Scene. The base of this card is Creamy Caramel. My images from the Autumn Harvest set were inked in Real Red, Really Rust, Summer Sun, More Mustard, Choc Chip, and Pumpkin Pie and stamped across my panel of Apricot Appeal squares. I layered the squares on Pumpkin Pie and gave it a decorative edge using my Scallop Edge Punch. Added a Choc Chip Grosgrain Ribbon across the bottom of the squares as not to hide the pretty scalloped edge :) Snipped out a More Mustard leaf to embellish and add alittle dimension to the card and placed it over the ribbon. The sentiment from Holidays & Wishes was stamped in Choc Chip. Hope you like it! Please let me know by leaving me a comment - love it when you do! Here is the sketch if you'd like to give it a try.

No Frills

Not a whole lot of planning or anything for this card, hence my title. I wanted to keep it quite simple, no layers or embellishments, and I think it turned out ok. Makes me think of a crisp fall day. The base of the card is Apricot Appeal and is stamped with the Autumn Harvest set. Pumpkins were inked in Pumpkin Pie and Glorious Green and the lone gourd inked in Summer Sun and kissed slightly with Pumpkin Pie. The leaves were stamped with the same inks and then added Riding Hood Red. The sentiment from Holidays & Wishes was also stamped in Pumpkin Pie. All inks, with the exception of Riding Hood Red, were craft ink so that I could heat emboss each image with Clear Embossing Powder. Using Craft ink or VersaMark is the only way your embossing powder will stick to your image. My little hint, on the Riding Hood Red, I traced over the image with my VersaMarker and quickly covered it with clear embossing powder - the marker dries much quicker than your Craft ink or VersaMark ink, but it can be done!! Unfortunately you can't really see the embossing, but it really does make the card pop in person. Just stamps, ink and clear embossing powder - no frills! Definitely under 15 minutes to kreate! Milk Cartons

Heres another fun project that we completed in my 'Sweet Treats' class. And what timing, this week, the demo group I belong to decided on a box challenge, so I thought this fit the challenge. Feel free to take the challenge yourself!! It's fun to step out of the box (no pun intended :) ) The smallest box was kreated with a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 sheet of Summer Yellow cardstock. With your 8-1/2" side across the top, you will score at 2, 4, 6, 8" and then with the 5-1/2" side across the top you will score at 2". Then you will cut along the score lines up to the 2" score line (see picture below to get the idea - picture below is scored for a 8-1/2x11 box) I decorated the top 3-1/2" panels with the Upsy Daisy set in Summer Yellow (sorry came out way too light, next time a deeper shade). Optional: On the last 2" panel you can punch out a circle to kreate a little peek a boo window to see your treats inside:) Adhere your box side and the bottom - use all bottom flaps to keep base stronger for support. At the top, pinch edges together and then punch two 1/8" circles to feed your ribbon through. Adorable, right?
The larger box is using a 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of Apricot Appeal. With the 11" side across the top, scoring at 2-1/2, 5, 7-1/2, 10 and then with 8-1/2 across the top score at 2-1/2. See picture - cut each score line up to the 2-1/2" score line.

Ok, so on the large box I used Pumpkin Pie, Choc Chip and Old Olive ink and the Autumn Harvest stamp set. Pinched the top of my box closed and placed an Old Olive grosgrain ribbon to close the carton. Added an Old Olive Tag with the sentiment, from Loads of Love Accessories, inked in Pumpkin Pie.
