Tropical Party

These are 2 cards from the recent Dream Night Workshop, kreated with the Tropical Party set in the new Summer Mini. I did add a few extra touches when I got home,Kim'isms', so these are the 'after' photos. ('Befores' just as cute, but I had to make them my 'own', ya know?)

This one started with an Old Olive card base, both back and front edge of card is given a decorative edge with the Scallop Border Punch.
So Saffron was run through the new Lattice Embossing folder for a textured horizontal strip and matte behind the focal image.
Accented the lattice a bit with a few swipes of Old Olive on a sponge across the lattice as well as distressing the edges of the So Saffron pieces, card base and palm image. It adds a bit more depth and character.
Old Olive palms were stamped around a layer of Whisper White
The palm tree was stamped in Old Olive and without reinking stamped to the right and left of the 'main' tree.

A few little Kim'isms' to this card:
* I stamped my palm again, on scrap, in Old Olive, snipped it out and layered it on a dimensional
* Crystal Effects on my 'main' palm branches gave it even more dimension
* A little bling? Coconut bling??? 2 rhinestone coconuts glisten from the tree :)

Isn't it cute? It is a pocket card and matching envie. How adorable for a summer bbq invite or luau invite!
After assembling the Pumpkin Pie pocket card and the Tempting Turquiose/Whisper White insert, the Scallop Border Punch was used for some decorative edges and a strip of the new Island Oasis DSP adds more of that aloha feel to the 'flap' of the card.

The oh so yummy island drink is inked in Melon Mambo on the insert and again of a piece of scrap and snipped out.
The snipped out 'cocktail' is added to Tempting Turquoise polka dot dsp,in the Island Oasis pack, matted on Old Olive and Whisper White - all popped up on dimensionals.
When I got home, I added a few little Kim'isms' to this kreation as well-
* the umbrellas were colored in with SU Markers - Summer Sun, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, Only Orange and then layered with some Crystal Effects
* the straw was also colored with Summer Sun and highlighted with Crystal Effects
* the snipped out coconut on the front of the card was snazzed up with Dazzling Diamonds
Ahhhhh, can't ya feel the island breeze and smell the Pina Colada? :)

The Perfect Flowers

Why not send flowers that will never die? No watering and they could last forever. This flower pot just makes me cheery :) Is there an occasion this wouldn't work for? Any way, I wish I could take credit for the original idea, but I had seen it awhile back (when blog hopping) and unfortunately never bookmarked the site. Please if any of you know who I can give proper credit to, please let me know. It really was not difficult to re-create if you know how to make a pocket card. And that's how it all began, I was making a pocket card and remembered the idea of a flower pot. So my inspired kreation bloomed. I used the Big Shot and the Simple Flower die to pop out my flowers and the 5 Petal Flower Punch to kreate my leaves. The pot was kreated by taking a 4"x9" piece of Kraft folding it in half and then folding the front of the card down approx 2". The 'rim' of the pot received a decorative Scallop Punched edge. Then I ran the pot through the Big Shot with the Texturz Background Plates to give the pot a soft embossed look(leaving the rim off of the plate so it wouldn't get embossed). To give it a bit more dimension I used my Dauber inked in Close to Cocoa and gently daubed in circular motions over the embossed impression. What a difference this little step made! The insert that slides in the pocket was 2 1/2 x 4 3/4. TIP: Before I adhered my flowers, I used a standard envelope, as a template, to place along side my card to make sure when adhering my flowers, I didn't go beyond my envelope dimensions. I attached my Big Shot Simple Flowers, making sure to adhere them overhanging the pot, but not sticking to the pot (if that happens, you will not be able to pull out your insert from the pocket!) Used my 2-way Glue Pen to add some Dazzling Diamonds to the centers. The piece holding the card together, the perfect touch of Choc Chip ribbon tied around the entire card to maintain the pocket. TIP: You could always add a mini glue dot at each top corner to keep the pocket closed.
Isn't it adorable? I have a class tonight and I'm pretty sure they are gonna love it! Let me know if you have any questions.

Pocket Full of Roses

Well, its a pocket card with roses - Bella Roses from the the new Designer Paper, Bella Rose. My base is the new In Color, Pink Pirouette. I love this soft pink and I love this DSP as well. The 'flap' portion of the Pink Pirouette is punched using the must have tool of the year, the Scallop Edge Punch and pierced using my Mat Pack and piercer. The rectangular Riding Hood Red layered behind Whisper White slips in to your pocket to add your message. The sentiment, from Fresh Cuts set, is stamped onto Kiwi Kiss and punched out with the Round Tab punch. The Tab is highlighted with Circle Ice Rhinestones which finishes off the inside layer. And a Die Cut Bloom with a slightly larger Circle Ice Rhinestone in the middle finishes off the outside. Pretty simple card, definitely under 15 minutes!

Father's Day

It's just around the corner. My hubby loves to save his pennies, so I now love to find the great sales, who doesn't really. But he still says, 'you'd save me more money if you didn't go shopping at all :)' Probably sounds familiar to a lot of you. Anywho, save money and make him a special handmade card -
This card was done at my recent workshop. We made a pocket card using Bashful Blue for the base, Chocolate chip for the horizontal strip across and So Saffron layered on top of that. We took the So Saffron piece and stamped it with the background striped stamp from the Dads Day set in So Saffron Ink. A little tricky b/c of the vertical stripes, mine came out a little crooked, but it gives it a little character :) Then we stamped out Happy Dads Day in Chocolate Chip and punched it out with the Designer Label Punch.
To make the pocket part, I used my Corner Rounder on all four corners then folded my Bashful Blue in half. Then took about 1" and folded that down. Behind that flap, I adhered the back and front side of the card with a dimensional on each side. You've now kreated your pocket. Then I took a piece of Very Vanilla and rounded the corners with the Corner Punch again to be the insert in our pocket card. I punched a small 1/8" Circle at the top to thread a piece of Bashful Blue ribbon in. Took a Silver Brad and pierced it through the ribbon to keep it together and kreate the 'pull'. In Bashful Blue I inked up my sentiment to finish off the card. One of the ladies in my group had a great idea - she was going to place a small picture of her husband and daughter on the insert for him to pull up. Great thinkin' Hope you like it!
