Pun Fun and my little secret to scrunchin'

An oldie, but goodie. Pun Fun is such a cute and versatile set, yet I so often overlook it. I recently had a reason to play with it and combined it with lots of new elements and I love how it turned out. Many of you know the fabulously talented Ann Schach and she just welcomed not 1, but 2 pups into her home. This card was intended for lil Muffy before I knew of her brother. Anywho...



* I started with an Old Olive 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 square base

* Don't let Jolly Holidays DSP trick you, you can definitely make this fun paper last beyond the festive season. Layered my base with the large polka dots. Lets not leave out the other side of the paper!- a little flip of the corner reveals the striped side and adds just a little fun

* Added some Rose Red 'scallops' (click here to view this great trick using the Fancy Flower Punch from Mary Fish)

* Hid the seam with my scrunchie Rose Red ribbon (sorry retired) and embellished with a large, fun Very Vanilla Big Designer Button, from the Holiday Mini. Tip: Using a few scrap threads from my scrunched up ribbon, I threaded them through the button for a perfect match

RUFFLED RIBBON:
Fray the edge of your ribbon and find a thread fiber that goes the length of the ribbon (not the 'fray') and gently pull and tug fiber which will kreate your ruffle. Keep pulling and scrunchin'. Ruffles can be tighter or loser depending on how much you scrunch. Give it a try, have fun scrunchin'

* With my Aquapainter, I colored in my little hippo, from Pun Fun. Stamped in Basic Black onto Shimmer White and colored in with Pink Pirouette and Pretty in Pink. Tip: When watercoloring without Watercolor Paper, I chose to use Shimmer White vs Whisper White. Seems to 'hold' the water better without the paper warping or piling from too much water saturation.

* Mounted the little hippo on Old Olive and then Rose Red with a little detailing from the Scallop Edge Border Punch

* Inked up my balloons in Basic Black, from Crazy for Cupcakes, on some scraps of Shimmer White and colored them in with my Aquapainter using Rose Red and Pretty in Pink for one and Certainly Celery and Old Olive for the other. Then simply snipped them out with Paper Snips and applied layers of dimensionals to the back to give them different depths. Tied some silver cording bows and adhered to the base of each balloon with a glue dot. The little details... cute ;)

* A few Basic Rhinestones bedazzle in the corners and I'm happy to send this one off

I Love a Parade...

And so do my Pun Fun Friends :) Happy July 4th!
As you can see, I do love my markers - see yesterdays post for more info on SU Markers. My images were inked in Black Stazon onto Whisper White and each of my 'Fun' friends were colored in solely with my SU Markers. Tip: I masked off the words on the bottom of each image with a sticky note. Bordering Blue for my hippo, Yo Yo Yellow and Apricot Appeal for my bird, Blush Blossom and a Pretty in Pink outline for my lamb, Pumpkin Pie for my cat, and Going Gray for my skunk. I matted my Whisper White layer over 4 Real Red punch Photo Corners onto my Night of Navy card base. The fine tips of the Real Read and Brilliant Blue helped me freehand my flags. The broad tips of Real Red and Brilliant Blue helped me transform my Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon into my customized color to kreate my bows. Pretty cool right! HINT: After coloring in your ribbon you will need to wait a bit until it completely dries to avoid any mishaps on your card. My Snow Swirled snowflake, Versamark ink and some Iridescent Ice Embossing powder help kreate my shimmery display of fireworks. Used my Scallop Edge Punch to finish off the bottom of the card and added some non SU mini rhinestones to the scalloped edge. AND the Scallop Edge Punch is the Deal of the Week! Here is my completed card from the SCS 214 sketch challenge last week. I had a hard time with this one for some reason. After 2 trash worthy cards, I changed the sketch to a vertical orientation and this is what ya got! Not my favorite card to date, but it could surely pass for someone's Valentine :) Simple card, not too involved, just follow the sketch. Any questions, feel free to ask! If you like the idea of having a sketch to challenge you, today, Wednesday is the day they post a new one. Have fun with it :)

Love Ewe

Sorry to not have a post for yesterday, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a catalog sized package waiting at my front step on Monday night. WAHOOOOOO, no time to stamp or post, had to look through it over and over and over again. Let me tell ya, its FABULOUS! And I thought the last catalog was great. Amazing, SU just keeps getting more fabulous! After completing the last challenge, see post below, I wanted to keep with the blues and a vibrant splash of red, in attempt to make a non frilly Valentine for my hubby. Turned out cutesy, but not frilly! Taken with Teal is run through my Big Shot with the Swiss Dots (Cuttlebug) embossing folder (Hint: hold onto your hats if you like THAT embossed look - some fun new textures in the new catty SHHHHHHH). I ran another piece through to kreate my squares. 1-1/4" Circles were punched out of Whisper White and sponged with Real Red. My Big Shot got some more use as I ran my Go Go Boots Alphabet Die set through with some Real Red for my letters. My heart is punched out with a non-SU punch and given some shine with Chrystal Effects. I layered my squares onto Bashful Blue and Whisper White and gave the edges a frayed look using my fingernail.
Punched out a Real Red Scallop punch and kreated a frame (using the 1-3/8" circle punch) to peek to the inside of the card. My little ewe, holding another shiny heart, is from the Pun Fun set. Inked in Basic Black, used a Blender Pen and Blush Blossom on the face and liquid applique gave this lamby a plush look. Adhered the 1-3/8" Circle punched ewe on a dimensional to the inside of the card, but through the scallop circle frame. Opened up, is the rest of the sentiment using Go Go Boots die cut letters and of course my little ewe. Love Ewe, see, cutesy! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think - love it when you do.

It's Sweet

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

I've missed this little stinker :) The Pun Fun set was a must when I first saw its debut last year, but it has definitely collected its share of dust, so I decided to shake it off and play a bit. I used my Big Shot to kreate a Basic Black scallop circle card using the Scallop Circle die and then ran a small piece of Pink Pirouette through with the die again to kreate the bottom layer. I used the small flower from the Priceless set to randomly stamp on the Pink Pirouette with Versamark and then heat embossed with White Embossing powder. Then I centered my Word Window Punch on the Pink Pirouette layer. Sponged the edges and around the punched opening with Rose Red ink. Adhered that layer, offset a bit, to my Basic Black and then inked up my sentiment from my Pun Fun skunk in White Craft ink. Eyeballed it and stamped it in the punched opening and then heat embossed with White Powder again. Needed a bit of sparkle, so two Circle Ice Rhinestones got the job done. Black Gingham ribbon hides the seam and my little skunk gets inked in VersaMark on Whisper White and heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder. She comes to life with my Aquapainter and some ink. TIP: When watercoloring on cardstock vs watercolor paper, be sure not to saturate the paper as it will warp/ripple. The edges also get sponged with Rose Red and Ticket Punched and then layered on a piece of Rose Red. I stink its sweet :)

Pun Fun is so Fun

Pun Fun is one of my favorite sets and for so many reasons. Whimsical enough for kids, 'sassy' for an adult, adorable line images for watercoloring or coloring, and with 8 stamps in this set there is a stamp that fits most occasions! So the cards are all 3x3 and this adorable little box becomes a home for these cute cards. Fun right!! (Sorry not the best picture - lighting issues) The base, of my cards, is Brilliant Blue and the soon to be retired Designer Series Paper is Jersey Shore. A few other colors you may see on my kreations are Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie and of course Whisper White to stamp my images on. FYI: If you click on the picture, you'll get a much larger image to view. All images were stamped with Basic Black and either watercolored using my Aquapainter or just colored with my Markers. A few different punches also added some 'punch' (hehehe) to the project: Scallop Punch, Scallop Edge Punch (to be released in the new catty Aug 11th), 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Slot Punch, Corner Punch, Ticket Punch. The only card with 'accessories' was my rocket with some Silver Brads in the corners and alittle Crystal Effects for my center circle window. Fun and simple cards! Great little gift option. Manly turned Baby

I am not very good at kreating the 'ol masculine card (as I know many of you are in my same shoes)... So, while I was testing out my Seeing Spots (actually for the post below- you can see more manly there), I asked my hubby if he thought this background was masculine... 'if it were for a baby boy, maybe' - the Bashful Blue base was too 'babyish' for his manliness *wink*. Well ok than, I'll run with that.
I kept my Bashful Blue base and my spots inked in Chocolate Chip, Mellow Moss and Bashful Blue. I then took my little hippo from Pun Fun and stamped him on Watercolor Paper with VersaMark. I then sprinkled some Black Embossing Powder and heated it up, to define him. I used my Aquapainter to color him in with Brocade Blue and Garden Green. TIP: With your stamp pad closed, squeeze the pad in the center and when you open it up you will have alittle pool of ink on the inside cover to dab your Aquapainter in.
I mounted him on Mellow Moss and then on Chocolate Chip and finished it off with a simple strand of Mellow Moss Grosgrain behind my layers. Simple card and I loved the way it turned out. And believe it or not, the very next day I was in need of a little boy card. Good thing I sometimes listen to the hubby :) *double wink* Just kidding, he can be great when I need affirmation. I hated to part with it, but it was a fairly simple card to make, so I quick made a double to keep with my stash :) Thanks for lookin'! Hope you like him! Good luck with your manly card :)

Looked good in my mind....

Not quite what I had in mind, but I've learned that even though I might not like something, it may inspire someone else's kreativity. So instead of burying the card in the unwanted pile, I will take the opportunity to maybe inspire you with the circle layout.
I started with punching out 1 3/8" Circles onto my Bashful Blue polka dot designer paper from the current Hostess lev 1 benefits.
TIP: I used the negative image from my chipboard circles as my template, but increased the circle to 1 3/8 to better accommodate my choice of stamp set. Check out this tutorial here. (Isn't it a cute card!) I used the template to trace my circles onto Whisper White. I then used my Pun Fun set and used my Markers on a few 'friends', huffed and stamped them onto my template. This is where a Stamp-a-mi-jig would have come in VERY handy. But, believe it or not, I eyeballed it and success on the first shot!! I used my Corner Rounder to my 4 corners of designer paper and layered it atop my friends using dimensionals. Again used the Corner Rounder to the next Cameo Coral layer. The base of the whole card is Apricot Appeal. The sentiments are from the Take Note Rub-ons set. The final touch is a small Apricot Appeal knot through the circle of my sweet hippo. TIP: I don't own Apricot Appeal Grosgrain, BUT voila'... transformation... Apricot Appeal marker + white grosgrain ribbon = instant appeal! Hehehe in this case Apricot Appeal. While it's not my favorite card, and I know we've all been here before... maybe when I'm finished it'll look better...oh well - I can only hope that it gets your kreative juices flowin'.

Whale Wishes

How I dislike when someone is very sick. I'd much rather kreate a card for happier occasions...But I was hoping this 'punny' whale will brighten her day alittle and let her know she is in my thoughts. She's very dear to our family and I pray she will be comforted during this time.
I haven't used much DS paper with cards yet, but this being the first, I was pleased. I used the Prints Pack Designer Series Paper which is available through Level 1 Hostess Benefits.

I inked out my whale from the Pun Fun set in Basic Gray (waterproof) onto watercolor paper FYI: If you ink out your outlined image in a non-waterproof ink, it will smear/blur into your image as you watercolor. I used my Aquapainter with Brocade Blue and watercolored my whale. She 'spouted' off Simply Said flowers with a Brilliant Blue marker(for the water she sprays and that she is afloat on) and Pixie Pink marker for the flowers. Alittle bling to the flowers with Dazzling Diamonds. Layered her on top of Regal Rose paper and used the ticket punch at the corners. The DS paper was also ticket punched and all were placed on top of Bordering Blue background paper. A little dazzle and a whole lotta love to Get Whale Soon!!!
