Love Buggies

Oh busy day... friends arriving shortly to tailgate before the big game and I have a few more preparations for my class tomorrow evening. So I'll make this a quick one! Lucky for me it was just as quick to make, not a whole lot of details to share. My friends sister just found out she is pregnant with twins, after almost 2yrs of trying, congratulations were in order. I chose to use the Clean and Simple challenge (CAS52) to whip up this card.

* Stamped my love buggies, from the hostess lev 1 set Love Bugs, in Black Stazon and trimmed them out
* Using SU Markers :Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal, Close to Cocoa, I colored in my buggies
* Using my scoring blade on the back flap of my Whisper White card base, I kreated a 'frame' about a 1/4" larger than my trimmed out image
* Placed my image up on dimensionals in the 'framed' area
* With the new Well Scripted set, from the Occasions Mini, I stamped my sentiment in Close to Cocoa
* An Old Olive Satin Ribbon is tied around the card in a knot.
* A Fresh Favorites II (So Saffron) button and linen thread add the perfect little detail to finish off this card!

Twinkle Twinkle

Forgive my absence I've been going a bit nutso! So you may see a little less blogging as I may not have the opportunity to stamp as much as I like, but I hope you'll stick with me. I don't tend to be away too long, how could I, its so fun to share my kreations with you. I just ask for your patience! My house is up for sale, so cleaning, decluttering and organizing the house (while the little ones 'TRY' to help) were at the top of my list of priorities this weekend (between shuttling everyone out in a scurry for visitors wanting to see our home.) Being 'prepared' every day is tiresome (little ones have 'stuff', much like mommy has stamping 'STUFF' LOL) - our house has been on the market for a bit, but the holidays kept visitors few and far between. Now with Spring on our heels, a realtor open house today, people are beginning their search again! Thanks for letting me share a bit of my life outside of my stamping oasis with you!

I've also been busy finishing cards for a friend for a baby shower. She asked for simple, with a stars/twinkle twinkle theme. She chose this layout and design and I couldn't have been happier (as others were a bit more involved). Silly me though, see those little pieces of snipped out paper threaded through paper pierced holes and knotted on my star? What was I thinking? Not so simple when reproducing many!! LOL! So with a few other things taking precedence (GASP!!) I haven't had much of a chance to stamp and play! Mojo 100 Baby

My girlfriend has baby number 4 on the way. WOW! I can't believe 4. Since she's like me and waits to be surprised by the gender, I decided to go baby neutral colors. I love to start a card with a sketch, so I went with Mojo 100. If you like sketches too, go check it out, all this week in celebration of the 100th sketch, there will be a new sketch every day.
I've seen these cute baby buggies pop up here and there, so I will not take credit for the idea, but I will take credit for kreating my own :)
*I used my Circle Scissor Plus to kreate my Whisper White circle and then cut out a pie shape.
*Ran it through my Big Shot with my sm polka dot Background Texturz Plate. Instead of raised dots, I flipped my image. Randomly in a few 'holes' I added some color with my Pastel chalks.
*Using my Eyelet Border Punch, I kreated my buggies eyelet ruffle.
*The Swirls Scribbles Sizzlit die was run through the Big Shot and a piece used to form the handle (cute right?)
*No small circle punch for my wheels :( - no problem, I traced the bottom of my Dauber for the perfect fit. Added my Flower Brad to become my wheel spokes. A black sharpie pen kreates the 'axel'. A little basic gray sponging highlights the edges of the wheel
*The buggy was placed on dimensionals on a Bashful Blue rectangle and a Certainly Celery Scallop using the Big Shot and Scallop #2 die
*The buggy layers were placed on a standard Whisper White card base 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 scored at the top and layered with So Saffron and the polka dots from Cottage Wall DSP
*Certainly Celery Grosgrain Ribbon hide the seam between my two papers.
*A central bow and a dangling Metal Edge Tag. Isolated the word 'baby' from the sentiment 'hello baby' in the Teeny Tiny Wishes set using my Bashful Blue Marker. Added a dash more using my Certainly Celery Marker around the inside of the metal edge. Isn't it a cute accent!?

Wild about You, little one!

I've been dying to do this project for friends of ours and I finally got the chance when they announced their little BOY, Joseph John arrived. Hopefully she is way to busy that she won't be checking this post. Wild About You (# 115110) was just the perfect set I had in mind if it was a boy. This is one of those Last Chance Stamp sets, so if you're wild about it :) you better get it before June 30th - timing is running out for the Last Chance products. Make sure to check my right side bar under 'current promotions' for all your Last Chance Lists. Please forgive the photos, I had a hard time getting these pictures right and they look much more washed out than they do in person. (I'm thinking because of the bright white background? Anyway, you get the idea of the gift, and they really are so cute!!)
I bought a few different size white onesies, pre-washed and ironed them and was ready to stamp. Simply ink up your stamps using Craft Inks (pigment ink) and apply it to your onesie - your ink absorbs right into the fabric. Totally adorable!! TIP 1: StazOn inks will work too. Currently SU doesn't sell different colored StazOn, but most of your craft stores do. After stamping them all (a few minutes of drying time), I heat set them with the iron and they are ready for little Joey. TIP 2: You could stamp directly on T-shirt Transfer Paper ( you can pick up at an office supply store. They are made by Avery) using StazOn ink and apply to the onesie. There are a few pros to this method, but more cons in my mind. So personally, save some pennies and extra steps and stamp directly on your shirt :) (Just wanted to share the option though)
To finish off the gift, I stamped my Wild About You animals randomly all over my white tissue paper and packaged them in this cute little silver tin. Tied various ribbons on the handle. Then took my Onboard Chipboard Letter 'J' and inked it in Bashful Blue Craft Ink and sprinkled Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it. TIP: For what and how many times I use Craft ink, I can't justify the investment of all Craft ink pads, but slowly I'm adding the Craft Stampin Spots (comes in set of 12 in your color families) to my collection of supplies. Glue dots work perfectly to adhere my 'J' to my tin. Paired with this card here, its an adorable, functional, unique, handmade gift. I'm Wild about it :) Any questions, let me know.

Baby Bag

Wow, it feels like it has been some time since I've kreated a project. This little Double Pocket Bag was inspired from the first Stamps and Smiles Project Tuesday Challenge. Happy Kreating

A Mix of Inspiration

I loved this fresh and springy kids bedding set from Pottery Barn, so I decided this would be my inspiration start. Paired with the OCC Sketch and BONUS, finding out my girlfriend is having a boy :) My mix of inspiration turned into this kreation.
I kreated my own 'designer paper' using my Seeing Spots set and stamping my circles randomly over my Whisper White background. Our long necked giraffe friend from Animal Crackers is inked in Basic Black and colored in with SU Markers. The star dangling from his mouth was giving a little glitz with some Dazzling Diamonds. I cut out my 2" Barely Banana circle with my Circle Scissors Plus (love the ease of this tool!) and ran it through the Big Shot with my polka dot Texturz Plate. I used my Dauber to sponge the edges with So Saffron ink and lightly went over the embossed dots to make them pop a bit more. For a bit of extra fun I snipped slivers of coordinating cardstock and threaded them through the buttons. TIP: Gently tie your knot ~ its thin and its paper and it will rip. Felt like a cartoon, I'd almost have it and that last little tug, DRAT, back to the beginning. Sometimes the littlest of detail can take the longest. LOL. I liked the end result, so it was worth that little bit of aggravation :)

Bibs

I'm finally up on the newest trend :) I'm sooooo excited - I just rec'd my BIG SHOT a little over a week ago along with the Scallop Circle die (still waiting the Top Note as it is on backorder :( and I saw this adorable step-by-step tutorial for this project by Patty Bennett and had to give it a try. This is my first die cut machine so this was the perfect tutorial to get me started with my new toy :) I totally CASED her idea and I love how they turned out! Aren't these adorable!!! I used Baja Breeze, Regal Rose, and Sage Shadow for my bibs. Background Basics (retired set) were inked in VersaMark and randomly stamped on the bib. I used the stamp from Punches Three (hostess set) and inked it twice in 2 different colors - punched one out with the large oval and then used the other to snip out the middle portion and place it on dimensionals (ie: my regal rose bib - inked the 1st time in Close to Cocoa and punched it out, then inked again in Regal Rose, but only snipped out the middle portion of the inked image and adhered that with dimensionals on the Close to Cocoa piece - make sense???) Used the Wide Oval Punch to kreate the 'neck' of the bib. Then used my Crop-a-dile to insert some Jumbo Pewter Eyelets and threaded ribbon through for the authentic bib look :) LOVE THEM! Thanks for taking a peak! I'm meeting with my group of ladies tonight to make some gift cards and have a few Holiday goodies - FUN FUN FUN! Then I really need to go into high gear - Saturday is my first craft fair, the count down begins!!!!!

Basic Baby

Had seen a template of this card a while back, (sorry I have no idea where I saw the original), and since it popped in my head to do a baby card, I thought I'd try and remember how. Without the template bookmarked, I was able to figure it out, so don't be intimated - its very easy to do!! With a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 (folded at top) piece of cardstock I used my 1 3/8" Circle Punch for the 'legs', at the bottom corners, and the 'neck' at the top center of my card. TIP: SU punches are great, the punch has little notches at the half way point of the punch - making it very easy to get an accurate half circle.
Then I measured about 1" down from the top to kreate my arms and about 1/2" in for the 'armpit' portion. Then I used my craft knife and cut a diagonal from the 'armpit' to the 'leg' on each side of the card to kreate your onesie. Between the leg holes I put two score lines and added my Silver Brads (snaps). TIP: For more accurate brad placement, I used my Piercing Mat and tool. If you click to enlarge the image you be able to see more detail. Now you are ready to decorate. Easy right? If you didn't follow my instructions, let me know and I'll try and make it more clear. A little trial and error never hurts - believe it or not all I had was the picture in my head - if I can figure it out, any one can!! :)
To decorate I used a soon to be retired set, Basic Backgrounds, this little set had seen a lot of ink and I'm sad to see it go! Make sure to place your retiring orders before Aug 10th!
So, I inked up my little swirls in White Craft Ink. Then I used my hippo from Pun Fun and stamped him on watercolor paper in Basic Gray. TIP: When watercoloring an image, you want to stamp it in a waterproof ink to avoid the image bleeding. SU has 3 waterproof colors - Basic Brown, Basic Black, Basic Gray. If using another non watercolor ink, be careful not to come too close to your line image. Another suggestion, emboss your image, that way the line image will not bleed either.
Back to watercoloring... I took my Aquapainter and Brocade Blue ink to color in my hippo. TIP: With your ink pad closed, squeeze the lid of your ink pad in the center and when you open it up, you will have a little pool of ink to use to watercolor. I used Pink Passion for the balloon and bow and painted the little toes with a Rose Red Marker. I Ticket Punched the corners and placed it on the Brocade Blue onesie. Maybe should have cut out the hippo? There's always next time. The final touches... Punched a 1 1/4" Circle and then my Scallop Punch around that to kreate a 'frame'. Placed those scallops around the legs and neck and snipped off the excess. Two small Whisper White scraps kreated the band around the arms. Phew that was a long post - sounds like a lot, but really wasn't! All worth it for this cutie! Let me know what ya think and leave me a comment. Love to hear what you think!
