Happy Harvest

This isn't quite what I had envisioned when I began this card, but became completely stumped for a layout. When my SIL and niece were here for a visit, I had stamped out a few images from Happy Blessings (Holiday Mini)set that she had ordered and figured when I got the chance I could play with it. As I said, not quite what I had envisioned, but I can't always be 100% happy with my kreation. It's just a little plain or something... I had really liked the way my image turned out after 'coloring' it in with Blender Pens and the rest is just ok. Really Rust base decorated with the Scallop Edge Punch and some More Mustard peeking out from beneath the scallops. The Whisper White with colored image (using SU stamp pads and Blender Pens) is torn and placed on a torn piece of More Mustard and then layered on Old Olive. TIP: Kreate a pool of ink in your SU lid by squeezing the closed pad in the center and upon opening, the lid will have a little pool of ink that you can dip your Blender Pen in and begin 'coloring'. My tag punch kreated my 'happy harvest' tag which is layered again with More Mustard and Old Olive and dangles from some linen thread. The Mat Pack and my paper piercer helped to add a bit more depth to the overall design. We are always our worst critics, but I hope it will inspire some of you.

A Silver and Baja Christmas

I love the look with a vellum overlay - it just really softens the whole look of the card. If you click on the word 'Christmas' next to Labels at the bottom of the post, you will be able to view my other Christmas cards and those that I've kreated with vellum.
I've made MANY cards with the Snow Swirled set and the snowflakes on the vellum overlay are just a perfect touch. This card started with the Snow Swirled Christmas tree inked in VersaMark and stamped on Whisper White and then heat embossed with Silver Embossing powder. Ticket punched the corners of the Whisper White and adhered it to a Baja Breeze base. Inked Merry Christmas, from Holidays and Wishes, in VersaMark and again heated embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. Stamped Whisper White snowflakes, from Snow Swirled, randomly on my vellum piece as well as the sentiment and then heat embossed the sentiment again with Silver Embossing Powder. Placed some Crystal Effects in the middle and on the tips of the snowflakes and then sprinkled on the glitter for the last pizazz I want on my Christmas cards. Used the Scallop Edge Punch to decorate the edge of the vellum and then added two silver brads in each corner to hold the vellum in place without adhering it down. I wish the picture did it more justice, but not having the vellum 'glued' down made it difficult to get a good picture. Hope it gives you some inspiration!!

Happy B-day Bro

Slight diversion from my holiday cards, but I had to say Happy Birthday to my brother Chris. Masculine cards are so hard for me, but I think this one turned out pretty nice. I started with Sahara Sand as the base and then stamped the fern from Organic Grace (hostess lev 1) set in Mellow Moss Craft ink and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. I decoratively tore the edges of the Sahara Sand and layered on top of another torn piece of Choc Chip and placed it on one more rectangular layer of Mellow Moss. Then I was bit stuck as what to do for a layout and I remembered this layout from Splitcoast Stampers a while ago and decided to go with it (SC188). Kreated a square with Mellow Moss,layered with Choc Chip on top and then cut it on a diagonal to kreate two triangles under the main image. Sentiment from A Little Birthday Cheer was inked in Choc Chip Craft ink and again heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. I balanced it off with three Silver Brads across the top. TIP: The Mat Pack is the perfect tool to get even spacing/placement of eyelets or brads every time! So a happy, happy birthday to my Bro - I'll never quite know if he truly likes his card (he probably won't even realize I made it - come on, he's a guy!), but I think I managed to kreate a descent masculine card. A Cup O' Joe...

Its getting chilly... and if you need a hot cup o 'joe' or anything you fancy, you will need a cute coaster, won't you?? This is a GREAT gift idea and I will be holding a class on Nov 17th to make 2 sets. Fun, Fun, FUN!!!! OK, so this particular set is retired, but I'm a huge snowman fan and I had to try them out on a set! I think they came out ADORABLE! For the holidays I'll probably be making a ton of different ones, some seasonal and some for set occasions. There's so much you can do, I'll even be making a few coordinating Trivets (shhhhh don't tell, hopefully those I'm giving this too won't go ahead and make them for themselves - at least act surprised people!!LOL) I inked my snowmen images in Black Stazon and stamped them on my porous tile. Colored in the images with sharpie markers or Daubers/Q-tips and craft ink.
This particular set I used mostly sharpie markers because the details were so small. But I did ink up some Whisper White snowflakes from Snow Swirled and stamped them on the tile as well as daubed some more Whisper White for the snow (if you click on the image to enlarge you may be able to see this better). Each tile was 'edged' with some Bashful Blue Craft ink. TIP: you will need to use either Craft Ink or Stazon Ink when stamping on tiles! Popped these in a 250 degree oven for 30 minutes and then sprayed on a Krylon Matte Finish sealant once cooled (I sealed each tile twice). The perfect little gift! I wrapped this set with the wide Baja Breeze stitched ribbon and voila', truly perfect for that cup o' joe - although I'm not sure I'd want to hide the coaster :) !! Snowflakes Galore

Since I was using Vellum paper (scroll down and check out my last post) and my snowflakes from Snow Swirled set, I decided to make another card. I had seen this technique on someones blog awhile back and I am so sorry I don't know who to give credit to. The technique is rather simple, stamp your image on the vellum, turn it over and highlight the image by adding some color with a dauber behind it. So I stamped my snowflakes in Whisper White, turned it over and using a dauber added some Bashful Blue behind it. Added some glitz to the center and tips of my snowflake with some Crystal Effects and glitter. Added some fun 'icicles' (with crystal effects and glitter) to top off the card and placed my vellum piece on a Bashful Blue card base. Wintery and fun little card. Blissful Frolicking

I'm not all that excited about winter coming, but I do love the beauty of a snowfall. When I saw this reindeer stamp, this card was immediately what came to mind - I just envisioned deer frolicking in the snow. I kreated my snow by tearing two separate pieces of Whisper White and adding glitter. I stamped my reindeer in Choc Chip Craft and embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder, then using Paper Snips carefully cut them out and placed them playfully in the snow. I stamped my snowflakes from Snow Swirled in Whisper White on a piece of Vellum and placed it over my Baja Breeze base. Added White Grosgrain Ribbon across the top by using a stay put bow. Punched out choc chip brackets using my Round Tab Punch and placed them around my sentiment stamped in Choc Chip and again embossed in Clear Embossing Powder. REMINDER: When using any embossing powder, you must use Craft Ink or VersaMark to make sure your powder adheres to the ink prior to heating/embossing.
I have to say I really like how it turned out, hope you do too!

Birthday Bash

I had mentioned that my sister-in-law and niece were coming this weekend so we could stamp my nieces b-day invites and some little favors. Everything came out adorable! She really likes hot pink (Pixie Pink) and lime green (Green Galore), so our base was layered with those 2 colors. I used the Crazy for Cupcakes set to stamp out the large cupcake with Basic Black onto Whisper White and then used blender pens with Pixie Pink and Green Galore to color in the cupcake. Used the 2-way glue stick to apply some glitter and then added liquid applique to kreate my yummy cake topping. Popped up the cupcake in the corner with dimensionals for that 3-D effect. Then we used the Cupcake Wheel and wheeled it across some Whisper White and she used Stampin' Pastels to color in the little cupcakes and then snipped them out and we popped them up on dimensionals as well along the side. Inked the invite in Green Galore and we have a scrumptious lookin' card.
She had liked my Bella Tote, so we changed up the paper with the closest I could come to the 'bright' colors she wanted, Georgia Peach Designer Paper. Here is a tutorial from Stampin with Di for this cute bag. I think they turned out so cute and better yet, my niece and SIL loved them too!


Then I made some sour cream containers (see more examples here) with the same designer paper, different pattern, and sealed them with adorable bracelets inside (Thanks cousin Lisa, check out her TrendsRUs site here.) Added a Pixie Pink Scalloped Circle and stamped 'for you' from the Fresh Cuts set in Pixie Pink and used my 1 1/4" Circle Punch to pop out the sentiment on Pretty in Pink and placed it on dimensionals in the center of the Scallop. Don't ya think it came out cute! My b-day is approaching and I'm gonna throw myself my own party just to make these cute favors :) (Just kiddin, not throwing a party for myself, but I do love how they turned out!! :) ) Glad you had fun Alex.
