Inspired by the Mojo Monday card sketch, my card took shape. With a Rich Razzleberry card base of 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 scored at the top, I added my floral image inked with my Rich Razzleberry Marker and Old Olive marker directly onto the stamp,moistened with a huff of breath and stamped on Whisper White. Matted with Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive- love this color combo, with a small piece of Cottage Wall DSP peeking out from underneath. Added 'Here for You' onto the DSP inked in Rich Razzleberry. An Eyelet Border punched piece of Orchid Opulence with a Rich Razzleberry Polka dot Ribbon to hide my seam, form my horizontal strip. '24-7' was inked in Old Olive and stamped onto Old Olive. An oval piece of Silver Hodgepodge Hardware 'highlights' my sentiment. Adhered my hardware with Crystal Effects and added some small non-SU clear rhinestones at each end.

Soft and Subtle

My crocus are starting to appear under their warm mulch blanket, which can only mean spring is in the air, can you feel it :) The layout was inspired by the Wed SCS Sketch Challenge (SC219) and I kept with my feeling of spring by using Soft Subtles; Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, and Apricot Appeal and this sweet little bird from the Spring Song set. I inked the bird in Basic Black on Watercolor Paper and used my Barely Banana and Apricot Appeal markers to bring his body to life (why is it the male birds are always the prettier - hmpf!). I sponged the edges of my layers to make them pop a bit more and used the Scallop Edge Punch to kreate a delicate edge around my Pretty in Pink layer. I ran my Barely Banana card through the Big Shot with the Texturz Backgrounds to kreate a subtle and soft embossed look.

The Big 10

My nephew is turning 10 - double digits, WOW!! I wasn't quite sure what type of a 'masculine' card to make him - but I think this turned out cute (probably not the right word for a boys card, but you know what I mean). A little whimsy with the truck puffing out the number 10, not too manly and not babyish. I think it will work! I'm sure all he'll care about is the paper inside anyway :)

A Kind Word

Candles are such a quick and cute gift idea. I learned the technique a long time ago and its been awhile since I've kreated one and I knew I wanted to use this set. I love how this little girl, from A Kind Word set, turned out. If you've never done this before, it really is quite easy. Ready for how easy this is? Take a piece of tissue paper (in this case white) ink your image/s and stamp however you'd like them to be on your candle - you can measure the circumference of your candle and cut your tissue paper to that length or cut out your image like I did for this candle.
Ok, I cut out a large square around my image stamped in Black Stazon and colored her in with various SU Markers - Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Barely Banana, Blush Blosson, Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Lavendar Lace, and Certainly Celery and sentiment is in Regal Rose. (Sorry, the colors look a bit distorted from what it looks like in person.) Around the image I used my Bashful Blue chalk from the Pastels kit to give the appearance of a sky. I placed my tissue paper on top of my white candle and placed a piece of wax paper over that. Then using my heat gun, I went over the wax paper and image and could see that my image was 'absorbing'/melting into the candle. Remove the wax paper slowly and voila', instant adorable candle. What's so cool is once the wax melts/absorbs the tissue, you can't even tell there was tissue there. I added a few Filigree Brads and Soft Subtle (Pretty in Pink) Brad to the center to embellish the candle just a bit more. What do you think? Are you going to give it a try? Have fun :)

Wishing you Happiness

Sorry if I've been MIA~ we took a long weekend to visit with family and then last night was my Open House to celebrate the release of the New (so fabulous) Catalog. We got to snack, chat, craft, listen to music, check out the new book - such fun!! I had to make sure I didn't overwhelm any potential new stampers, so this was a pretty simple card to kreate~ not a whole lot of 'fluff'. The base is a new In Color, Riding Hood Red, and my butterfly from Dreams du Jour is inked in Riding Hood Red as well and randomly stamped on the top half of my card. My sentiment across the bottom is from Heard from the Heart set and again inked in Riding Hood Red. I then took a piece of Bella Rose Designer Series Paper (DSP) and my Scallop Edge Punch to dress up the bottom of this beautiful paper. Using White Grosgrain Ribbon I tied a stay put bow. The final 'accessory' to this card is a Scallop Circle punched out in Pink Pirouette and set on dimensionals. The 'Love You' stamp from Dreams du Jour was inked with Ruby Red, Pretty in Pink and Always Artichoke Markers and stamped on Whisper White. TIP: You can directly ink up your stamps using markers to get a variety of colors on one stamp or even to omit something (ie: text or design), making the stamp more versatile. After inking with markers, huff to remoisten and stamp. This image was snipped out with my Paper Snips and also mounted with dimensionals onto the Pink Pirouette Scallop Circle for that 3-D effect. Winter in July? Sneak Peek

I was very against doing a winter card this early! I'm a HUGE fan of the warm weather and I'm dreading the thought that summer is already half over- UGHH!! But I had the idea for this card with the new Deer Friends set(Hostess Lev 2- available in the new Fall/Winter 2008 catalog to be released Aug 11th)and I had to run with it. In order to qualify for this set you need to Host a party of $300+ or purchase enough goodies yourself :) Contact me for hosting info or if you'd like to place an order.

I used the new In Colors, Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze. On my layer of Baja Breeze, I used my VersaMark and snowflake, from All Through the Year set, (soon to be retired) and heated it up with Hologram Highlights. On Whisper White I inked my deer, present, santa, and snowman using Ruby Red, Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, and Black Markers. TIP: You can ink up your stamps directly with your Markers to obtain different colors on your image. Just color, huff to remoisten and stamp. One additional step with my deer, I used Crystal Effects to accent his 'shiny'nose :) Then I used my 1 3/8" Circle Punch to punch out my images. What I love is the little sentiments around each image which brought me to the waterfall technique. With the waterfall effect, the sentiments read as a 'mini' sentence (fragmented,but you'll get the idea) ... 'Deer friend, a little something, from the guy with the red suit, season's greetings'. Love it!! Here is a tutorial how you can make this type of Waterfall card. I altered a few things (beside the obvious) - used Rhinestone Brads instead of eyelets and used my 1 3/8 Circle Punch to punch out my images and layered them on each square instead of just using squares.

Unfrogettable

Is anyone else humming Nat King Cole? :) I had to have this Unfrogettable set and now that it is retiring, I realize I have 'toadally' neglected these little critters. I've never kreated a scene type card, but I had a lot of fun with this one. It's a little busy, but I wanted to represent each of these cute critters. I love using my Markers to get various colors on one stamp. So I markered up my stamps and then huffed to remoisten the ink and set in place. A few images I colored in as well. I love the way my little snail is peeking through the flowers. My little frog was cut out using Paper Snips (scissors) and is perched upon his 'stool' with dimensionals. I also snipped out one of his dragonfly friends and popped him out with a dimensional as well. Aren't these little guys so cute -I love their big eyes, so I accented them with a dab of Crystal Effects in each eye (if you click on the picture to enlarge it you may see that a little clearer). I kreated the sky and cloud background last, using a scrap Punched Scallop piece and sponging Bashful Blue ink around it. I paper pierced little trails behind my dragonflies using my Piercing Mat and tool. The sentiment was inked in Green Galore and popped it out with my Oval Punch. I punched out another oval in Green Galore and offset it behind the sentiment and popped that up on dimensionals too. I layered my 'scene' on top of Green Galore and then Taken with Teal. Not my usual type card, but I did have fun! Don't miss out on this Unfrogettable set, or any other that is retiring - you only have until Aug 10th to make it yours! Another Great Fold

Well, here is yet another different "fold" card. Pretty simple to make and it gives it that extra wow factor since its not your typical top or side folded card. Anywho, the card base is Night of Navy and measures 3 3/4" x 4 3/4". The second layer, Close to Cocoa is 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" and scored at 3 1/4 (along the 6 1/2 side ie folded in half). Then you cut a diagonal on the left side and fold your triangle over the square. The third layer is a 3x4 piece of Sage Shadow. The fourth layer is a rectangle of Very Vanilla which measures 7 1/2 x 2 3/4 and again scored in the middle so your opening will be at the bottom. Then the lighthouse, from the set A Light unto My Path, was inked using Markers - Not Quite Navy, Sage Shadow, Close to Cocoa, huffed to remoisten and then stamped onto Very Vanilla. This Very Vanilla piece can be opened from the bottom to add your message to the inside of your card. The sentiment was in Close to Cocoa and stamped onto Very Vanilla and then layered on top of Night of Navy. Fancy shmancy, right? Fun to do, go give it a try! I have one more dahlia fold to show you and one more extreme wow factor fold (at least to me it was - but I'm pretty easy to impress :) So stay tune this week!! End of School

Today is the last day of pre-school for my daughter, so we decided on a few handmade gifts for her teachers. This one is very simple and so very cute - and very FUNCTIONAL! This is a 4x6 acrylic picture frame. I took the apple from the Tart 'N Tangy set, from the Occasion Mini, and inked it up with my markers in Old Olive and Real Red, huffed the stamp to re-moisten, and randomly stamped it on Whisper White. Don't forget the sets in the Occasion Mini are only available to June 30th - so don't miss out, place your orders soon! Took my sentiment from Simply Said set and stamped it in Basic Black. I cut my Whisper White with apples and mounted it on Old Olive and Real Red. Very teacher-ish background to place in the frame. Finish the frame off with a little ribbon, in this case Black Gingham. Placed a post-it notepad and VOILA' instant gift. Use your favorite set and kreate your perfect gift! Hope they like it and you too of course! Let me know what you think. A Sweet Treat

Love to say thanks with more than words, so the ladies at my last workshop received a sweet treat for coming and having a fun night with me. As I told you, I love the Tart 'N Tangy set in the Occasions Mini... don't forget, you have until the end of June to purchase from the Mini. So, this is what they got.

Super cute right! I used my Real Red and Old Olive markers to kreate my strawberries (don't they look so fresh and scrumptious!!) I inked them up, huffed and stamped them on Whisper White. I layered that on top of a 3 1/4 x 4 piece of Real Red cardstock. Placed my goodies in a Cello bag and stapled my Real Red (folded in half) over the top of the bag. The flat side of the staple was the back and then I adhered the strawberry filled Whisper White to cover up the open pronged staple. Circle 1-3/8 punched some Old Olive and Real Red cardstock and layered one with one more huffed strawberry punched with 1-1/4 circle punch. Scallop punched the coordinating color and layered it all with dimensionals. Now I wish I could take full credit for the idea, but I did see it on someone's blog, way back when the Mini first came out. And she used orange and lemon candies as well. If anyone knows to whom I should give proper credit, please let me know. Hope you like it!

Too Much of a Good Thing

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. It's just been one of those weeks, where it seems EVERYTHING is going on. Anyway, can you believe it is almost the end of May already? I couldn't let National Scrapbooking Month go unnoticed here, so this was a 6x6 page that I wanted to showcase of my littlest that I took just about 2 weeks ago. She just turned 17 months and this was her first 'experience' with flowers this season. My hyacinths and daffodils were the first to bloom in my garden and she just couldn't wait to go touch them. So of course I had to capture the moment she sat down next to them.
I choose to take the color out of the picture and use my markers (love them) to accent the flowers and stems. I used Barely Banana and So Saffron on the flower petals and Mellow Mose to accent the leaves. Loved the effect. I tried to do it with my Adobe photoshop program, but it just wasn't as simple as I thought, so out came the markers. Couldn't hurt to try and now I love the end result!! No need to always mat a photo, I placed the picture directly onto the 6x6 So Saffron paper. I then took my Scallop Punch to Very Vanilla paper and created my daisies. TIP: Using your paper snips, cut at each nitch toward the middle, but angled toward the nitch on the exact opposite side. I hope that makes sense. Email me if you need my help. Then I used my 1/2" Circle Punch on So Saffron to kreate my flowers center. Using the Large Oval Punch and then halving each oval, I kreated my leaves in Certainly Celery. TIP:Crease the leaves down the middle for a little more depth. I also bent a few of my daisy petals to give it that 3-D look as well.
I crossed the page with Certainly Celery ribbon. Below the ribbon, I inked up a small flower from Time Well Spent (Hostess Lev 3 set) in So Saffron and randomly stamped around. TIP: I masked off a small space for my sentiment, to be sure not to stamp flowers in that space. I then took my sentiment, again from Time Well Spent, and inked it in VersaMark and then sprinkled on some White Embossing Power and heated it up. I love it!! Hope you do too! And eventually this page will make its 'home' on a full 12x12 spread. Gotta get kreatin :)

Don't Wait

Did you every really like something, but kept procrastinating about getting it... then you see others with it and it makes you want it even more... I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Usually its a great pair of shoes, but this time it's the Tart N' Tangy set from the Occasions Mini. I've been staring at it since its debut in March and soon it will arrive at my door. Thank goodness you have 1 more month to buy it. I've seen so many adorable projects using only these 4 stamps. Good things come in small packages. I only wish I had gotten it sooner. It's just so 'summer-y', 'picnic-y', 'margarita-y'... I could go on, but I'll spare ya. Thank you to my very good friend and mentor Tanya for letting me borrow it while I anxiously await that big brown truck with all my new 'toys' :)

Any who... very simple card to make. I used my Real Red and Old Olive markers to color my images, huffed and stamped. Then used my 1-3/8" circle punch to get my Real Red circles layered under my apple and strawberry which were punched with the 1-1/4" circle punch. The cherry on top (or in this case the middle) was showcased with a Real Red scalloped circle. TIP: Punch out your middle circle first and then place your scalloped punch over your open circle and you get a great 'framed' scallop. All glorious fruits were layered on top of Old Olive diamonds. Final touches were the Red Gingham ribbon and the 'you make me happy' rub-on. Sorry, that particular rub-on is from Sale-a-bration, but any of the current rub-ons and sayings would work just perfectly!! Wasn't thinking when it was adhered - just that it WAS the perfect saying, 'cause it it did make me happy! Hope it made you smile too! There are a lot of great sets in the Occasions Mini catalog. So don't procrastinate, after June 30th the Occasions Mini will retire and you won't see these sets again! Don't drop the ball like I did, if you like this set, don't forget to order the coordinating Designer Series Paper, Summer Picnic... guess you know what I'll be ordering soon :)

So Girly

Doesn't time just fly!!!!! My oldest daughter is turning 4 the beginning of June. Not only can't I believe how quickly she has grown from my itty bitty baby girl to my little girl, but oh my, I didn't make up her invitations! Always good intentions to have them done the first week in May, but, as I said, time flies! And I know you've all been there. We had an extra long weekend visiting with family, so no laundry or cleaning to do, kids were entertained and I had time to do her invitation. She decided on a butterfly theme and I of course loved it.

I took the flowers from the Simply Said set, inked them with my markers, huffed and stamped. I did the same with my butterfly from Time Well Spent hostess set. Host a party and you could be eligible for this set too :) I then punched out my butterfly and Certainly Celery paper with the Scallop Punch. I offset each with dimensionals. I then took my Corner Rounder punch and scalloped the edges of a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock and adhered it to the edge of my card. The final touch was a Certainly Celery stay put bow. Pretty simple design. The coloring and huffing technique takes alittle bit of time, but I think worthy of the effort. Every card that I make is always beautiful in her eyes and this one received her big smile of approval. Hope it receives yours as well.
