Wish Big, Sweet Friend

Jump start those kreative juices with some inspiration, a challenge perhaps! For this card, subject: birthday and then the juices started flowin with the PPA81 sketch. Ready for some deets:

* Why not some Pizazz?! Pear Pizazz standard cardbase with 1" Circles punched in Pear Pizazz. Randomly adhere circles and use your Paper Snips to trim any excess circle hanging off your card.

* Seeing Circles - Kreated perfect concentric circles using my 2-1/2" Circle Punch on Whisper White and the Circle Scissor Plus for the perfect size Pretty in Pink matte.

* Wish Big from Word Play inked in Pear Pizzazz and again on a piece of scrap with Pretty in Pink, just to snip out that lil star ;)

* Gettin Punchie - Create a Cupcake set and coordinating Build a Cupcake Punch in the Occasions Mini are the makings to a mess free, one-of-a-kind kinda cupcake ( and no calories!). This one happens to have a Soft Suede inked bottom, adorned with a few Basic Pearls and just a Pretty in Pink scrumptious frosting. What made this frosting more scrumptious was a quick zip through the Big Shot with a swirly Background Texturz Plate. So fun! And a cherry on top that looks just as scrumptious with a little Crystal Effects to make it shine.

* Have you checked out the last page in the SAB catalog? Over 50+ additional options from the Idea Book and Catalog to pick for FREE with your qualifying order of $50+. Thats how I got the set Hello, You and used this 'Sweet Friend' sentiment inked in Pear Pizazz. Dotted the 'i' with another lil Pretty in Pink star from the Wish Big stamp in Word Play and added a few more Basic Pearls (can ya ever have enough pearls?)

KISSaturday Nature Walk & a NEW winner!

Good thing I can do a KISSaturday/Sunday card for you - I haven't seen my stamp room since Wednesday and with hubby's b-day today and a Superbowl Party tomorrow, a KISSable card is just what I needed since I wanted to get inky, but really have a lot to be doing! Lets get onto to our KISSaturday card - Keep It Simple
* Head for Texture! - whenever I'm looking to simplify, I go for my Big Shot and an Embossing Folder. Now don't fret if you don't have a Big Shot (but seriously, why not?! I KNOW you'd love it!!!!), you could eliminate this step and still have a purdy card. I just think that one easy step with the Big Shot just steps it up a notch with minimal effort and time!
* Zip that Whisper White card through with the new Framed Tulips Embossing Folder,in the Occasions Mini, isn't it great?
* KISS with lots of White Space - Ink up your image, from Nature Walk, with SU Markers to get a variety of color on your rubber, here using Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizazz (I did use Riding Hood Red on the flowers as well to fulfill the PPA color challenge, but you can barely see the difference in these small blossoms), give a huff of breath to remoisten ink on stamp and stamp. Keeping with lots of white space, I added a simple Rich Razzleberry sentiment from Sincere Salutations.
* Pear Pizzazz seam binding bow wrapped with a green Circle Rhinestone Ice Brad kreates the perfect embellishment to finish off your KISSaturday card, 1-2-3!

And because it was so quick to kreate, I decided to show you how it would look without the Framed Tulip Embossed look - still purdy, right?!

Bows and MOJO

The PPA78 challenge this week is all about bows. I decided to jump start my mojo with this weeks MOJO Monday sketch and combine the two challenges. I had to ink up this new set, Easter Blossoms, from the Occasions Mini and play with that gorgeous Springtime Vintage DSP again (scroll down to see my desk calendar). So here we go

* Standard Baja Breeze cardbase
* Grab your Color Spritzer - get flecky with it :) Soft Suede ink is spritzed all over my cardbase
* The soft silhouette image gets inked onto Very Vanilla cardstock with Crumb Cake ink
* Popped her out with the 2-1/2 Circle Punch
* Need circles? You want to have the Circle Scissor Plus as one of your go-to tools. This tool is great for kreating circles up to 6in and is perfect for a small increment to matte behind another. So guess what I did? Cut out a Very Vanilla circle slightly larger than my 2-1/2 Punch for the perfect matte.
* Doll it up with some pretty Basic Pearls
* Whats a card these days without the Big Shot, right? Placed the flecked front of my cardbase into the new Framed Tulips Embossing Folder and zipped it through.
* To add to the vintage feel, I grabbed my always handy Sponge Dauber inked with Soft Suede and lightly swept over the embossed frame
* A piece of floral Springtime Vintage DSP got the same vintage treatment using my Sponge Dauber and Soft Suede ink.
* Added the final challenge elements for the PPA, bows. Kreated 'double bows' and centered them with the new Rosettes and a Basic Pearl. Accented a tad by lightly brushing my Soft Suede Dauber over the 'petals'.

Driving by with a Birthday 'hi'

Another great sketch for the PPA77 Challenge. My stash of birthday cards has diminished greatly and my card style seems to have changed enough that I can't even think to send some of the 'older' ones out. LOL (Although I'm not so sure I'm liking this one either-urgh!)THe juices got flowin' by using the PPA77 sketch and the SCS color challenge (CC306): Bravo Burgundy, Pear Pizazz, and Baja Breeze. Wasn't sure how I'd make it work, but Bravo Burgundy helped me go masculine! I donno, does this work for masculine??
* Standard Baja Breeze cardbase texturized with a zip through the Big Shot and the Texturz I Background Plates
* Amazing what some texture does to a card! Zipped the piece of Bravo Burgundy through w/ the same plate
* Snazzed up the Pear Pizazz with a change of pattern and used the argyle Texturz I Background Plate
* Inked up the truck from Loads of Love in Basic Brown

* Ready to color? Grab your Blender Pens!
TIP: Let your inked blender fade out the color to give it that watercolor feel and to 'highlight' areas.
Add a touch more highlighting with your White Signo Gel Pen


* Sentiment inked in Bravo Burgundy and popped out with a 1"Circle Punch and matted on a 1-1/4 Circle of Bravo Burgundy

Not vintagey, not frilly, not quite sure LOL But it will work for the intended recipient! He'll never admit anything to me anyway ;)

Another Simple Valentine for the PPA

I am honored to be Featured Artist for this weeks PPA76 challenge and since I was still in the Valentine mode, I decided to play again! :) Why not when you have great inspiration, right?? I also used the MOJO173 sketch to play off of too. I was still wanting to keep things simple for this Valentine as well and I think I was able to accomplish it. I'll leave that up to you.
* Cherry Cobbler standard cardbase
* Whisper White zipped through the Big Shot w/ the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder for the perfect bit of texture and matted on a piece of Basic Black
* Cherry Cobbler seam binding and embellished bow with an Antique Brad.
* LOVING this new Glitter Paper, from the Occasions Mini, quick pizazz with no glittery mess! Popped out 3 Small Heart punches and placed them on Dimensionals (even more WOW)
* Zipped a piece of Whisper White and Basic Black through the Big Shot w/ my Ovals Die.
* From the Hostess lev 3 set, Occasional Quotes, the sentiment was inked in Cherry Cobbler ink. Snipped the Basic Black oval in half and kreated a matte behind the sentiment.
* Grabbed my Crop a dile and punched out 3 tiny Red Glimmer circles to add some interest to the sentiment.

A Simple Valentine for the PPA

Inspired by this Lady in Red? Join the Pals Paper Arts with the PPA76 Challenge. Think red, think Valentines, think elegant, think simple... just be inspired to have fun and kreate! As you can see by my interpretation, I was thinking a simple Valentine. There aren't always hours+ available to make a card LOL! So, though not always the easiest to kreate simple, I am trying to get better.
* Started with a standard Crumb Cake cardbase
* Too 'flat'? Add flecks of Soft Suede ink using your Color Spritzer for some visual interest :) I just love a good fleck
* Grab your Sponge Dauber (I always have one handy!!)- soften/distress the edges with Soft Suede ink
* Punch out a Cherry Cobbler strip using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border
* As if that isn't pretty enough on its own, I just had to add some hugs and kisses details with some Linen Thread. Love it!!
* Inked up the heart in Basic Brown from the hostess lev 1 set Punch Potpourri and using Blender Pens colored in the flowers. TIP: Kreate a pool of ink in the lid of your SU pad by squeezing pad together before opening OR using your SU marker scribble a tad on any plastic case for a little pool of ink - then dip your Blender Pen and color
* Love coordinating punches - popped out the heart with the Full Heart Punch. Grab that dauber again and distress the edges. Basic Pearls are the perfect accent for each flowers center
* Layered this heart onto a Cherry Cobbler Scalloped Heart to Heart that was run through with the Big Shot
* Got Bling? Now you have it instantly with no mess with the NEW Red Glimmer Paper in the Occasions Mini. How cool is that?! Ran the Scalloped Heart to Heart thru the Big Shot and popped out a blingin' heart
* I played on again off again with the Victoria Crochet Trim, but in the end it won with some delicate Basic Pearls
* Had to highlight my 'XOXO' with the perfect sentiment Hugs&Kisses from the All Holiday set. Inked first in VersaMark and then into Cherry Cobbler, stamped and sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
* Layered each heart on Dimensionals for that little extra 'pop'

A little Rock n Roll and a Color Challenge

And a challenge it was!! Todays PPA Color Challenge is Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray. All wonderful colors in their own right, but combined, hmmmm what to do? Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight reminded me of some of the most vibrant fall colors this year. So I grabbed my Lovely as a Tree set to kreate a subtle scene

* Standard cardbase of Textured Gray cardstock

* Inked up my trees in Basic Gray and stamped onto Whisper White. With my Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight Markers I accented each tree with a few leaves. Kinda reminds me of a black and white photo with colored accents.

* A little too stark? A few flecks from my Color Spritzer helped to soften the look

* Ready to rock n roll? I took the leaf image inked in Daffodil Delight and lightly rolled the stamp around in Poppy Parade, kreating a two tone leaf image. TIP: Make sure to always use your light color first then into a dark color, so you don't ruin your ink pads!!

* Using my Paper Snips for precise cutting, I snipped out my leaves.

* With the same rock n roll technique I added my sentiment from Sincere Salutations

* A scrunchie Gray Taffeta Ribbon, see my scrunchie technique HERE, and Antique Brad finish it off.

PHEW, this one wasn't easy! But thats a challenge right?!
How'd I do? Not my personal fave, but I think I can live with it ;) and maybe it will inspire you in some way?!

A PPA Sketch and Good Cheer

Its time for a sketch challenge at the PPA and I decided to play with The Paper Players and their Recipe Challenge: dsp, something punched, and a sentiment. As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I had a different 'type' of card in mind. It's not your usual open and shut card, but a little message tucked into a 'pocket'. Loved the idea in my head, but not quite sure I love my design yet ;) Its growin on me LOL







* Started with a 4-1/4 x 11 piece of Bravo Burgundy cardstock. Folded it in half. Using my Dauber and Expresso Ink, I distressed the edges of the card

* Next, score and fold a 'flap' at 1". Gave my flap a decorative edge with the Eyelet Border Punch. And some Crochet Ribbon Trim for that vintage look AND I couldn't pass up some Basic Pearl pretties. Purdy lil flap

* Add an insert to your pocket - I used a piece of Very Vanilla 3-3/4 x 5-1/4 and a piece of Deck the Halls DSP to dress up what peeks out of the 'pocket' TIP: Place your insert between the pocket and then adhere top two corners of pocket together with a glue dot/dimensional. You want to make sure you have enough room to slide in and out your insert.

* Finishing off the front... inked up the Santa image (love this image!) from Good Cheer in Bravo Burgundy and stamped onto Very Vanilla.

* Attempted the cracked glass technique with 4 layers of clear embossing powder and it didn't quite crack so good - any suggestions what I did wrong (maybe I can't use embossing powder???), but I went with it.

* Do stress the distressing when going for that antique or vintage feel. Distressed what I could over some cracks and along the edges with my Dauber and Expresso Ink. Matted it onto a piece of Crumb Cake and, yup, distress those edges!!

* Grabbed my Paper Snips and cut out some holly leaves from a scrap of dsp for the final element of this sketch.

Bring on the Bling

Bring on the Bling with the PPA!! Todays challenge was clean and simple and to accesorize with some bling, a lil pizazz. I chose Snow Swirled, still current but older set and a new hostess set, Peaceful Season, in the Holiday Mini, some new accesories and a very simple design. Matted my swirled tree image with a simple embossed/scored 'frame', jazzed it up with Silver Embossing Powder and a few Basic Pearls to add a tad more pizazz and I think it turned out to be a very pretty card. PPA - Bring on the Bling
The Little Red Wagon - Something Old, Something New

Where have I been?...Lets see, we continue with our housing saga, but packing has resumed (only thinking positive now), we got through the first week of school and sports, AND the first bout of germs with both kids catching colds and then a stomach bug... so yes, I decided to climb through the boxes to my rather messy stamping oasis and have some me time :) One day I will look back at all this and have a good laugh - heck I'm laughing now (when I'm not wanting to burst into tears LOL) Keeping me on my toes and teaching me lots of patience! Life is good! ;) And so is taking the time to stamp with the PPA!! Todays challenge is a sketch challenge. I've been itching to ink up this set, and peace was all I could think about when I 'got away'.

* Inked up the Lev 2 Hostess set, Peaceful Season, from the Holiday Mini, in Cherry Cobbler and stamped onto Very Vanilla. Rounded the edges using a 1" Circle Punch. Isn't Cherry Cobbler such a rich an elegant color for the holidays? I'm lovin' it!

* Ruffled up my Very Vanilla Satin ribbon. How? Quite simple really - fray the edge of your ribbon and find a thread fiber that goes the length of the ribbon (not the 'fray') and gently pull and tug fiber which will kreate your ruffle. Ok, easier to do than explain. Give it a try, you'll get it!!

* Embellished with one of the fun NEW Big Designer Buttons, from the Holiday Mini, in Cherry Cobbler and tied with a piece of Linen Thread.

* Take it to the Big Shot!! Emboss your background for a very quick and elegant look! Zipped through Very Vanilla cardbase and Petals a Plenty Embossing folder - so pretty!

* Me and my Daubers, love them - always a must it seems on any card! Applied Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to the embossed petals. Tip: shake up paint, paint will be stuck in the cap, guess what?, perfect fit for your dauber! Easy to ink up, less messy!

* Next, inked up the Dauber with Champagne Mist and applied to my dove image. Stamped onto Very Vanilla and snipped out with Paper Snips - these are so great for small and precise cutting!

* Placed focal image on dimensionals on cardbase and gave the dove some extra dimension as well!

Here I am ;) thoroughly enjoying my summer days, but I wanted to Play at the PPA! Todays challenge is to Keep It Simple Sweetie (KISS), masculine style! I can always use masculine cards, which are so hard for me so this is a great challenge... here I go. Geometric is my easy go-to for masculine card making, so I played with some circle punches and a fun new stamp set Word Play in the new Idea Book and Catalog.
* Crumb Cake cardbase
* 1" Crumb Cake Circles, 1-1/4", 1-3/4" Soft Suede and Early Expresso Circles
HINT: To get your rings, punch out your 1-1/4" circle first and then line up your 1-3/4" Circle over the circle you just punched out and you'll get your thin ring. The Circle Scissor Plus is also a fabulous tool for making circles and rings of all sizes as well!
* Wish Big from Word Play was inked in Choc Chip Craft ink, removed the ink from the star and inked it with a Pacific Point Marker, gave a little huff to remoisten and stamped onto Crumb Cake. Applied Clear Embossing Powder and heated 'er up with my Heat Tool.
* Inked up star again with Pacific Point, stamped off onto Whisper White and snip, snip, snip. Added my star over the image with a piece of glue dot for a little more dimension
* Punched out sentiment with 1-3/8" Square. Applied a 'soft' edge for dimension using my dauber and Soft Suede ink.
* Using my piercing tool and mat pack, kreated a 'frame' around my focal point.

Not quite what I had in mind!

Here I am ;) Did ya miss me? ;) Summer brings new schedules, routines, to-dos, and lots of time with my kiddos, so I haven't been blogging or stamping as much. I know, {gasp}, but I am enjoying the summer to the fullest, it always ends way too soon for me! All sorts of new goodies from the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog, will be coming my way shortly, so I'm sure I will be more than eager to play a bit and of course share :)

Jeesh, it hasn't been that long, but already I am a bit rusty. Don't ya hate when that happens?? I'll share my 'rust' with you anyway, is that ok? The colors were definitely a bit of a challenge for me, so can I blame my rust on my 'failed' color challenge?! 'Nough complaining... PPA50 challenge today is So Saffron, Choc Chip and Basic Gray.
I chose the very versatile set Elements of Style - such beautiful images and really, I think you can do any occasion with it!
*The Circle Scissors Plus is the perfect must have tool for making circles. I love this tool!!! Cut out circle from Watercolor Paper (approx 3" diam)
*Inked up the floral image in Choc Chip ink and stamped on Watercolor Paper. Using my Aquapainter, I lightly went over some of the choc chip to blend into the flower and stems - left it to dry a bit
*On my standard So Saffron card base, I stamped the flourish image in Choc Chip and highlighted with my White Signo Gel Pen. Distressed the edges of the card with more Choc Chip ink using my dauber
*Sentiment was inked in Basic Gray between flourishes
*Bird image was inked in Basic Gray and stamped off once to get a softer/lighter image. Snipped out my bird with precision using my paper snips. Daubbed the edge of my bird with more choc chip ink
*Returned to my floral image and 'painted' my yellow roses with So Saffron reinker. TIP: kreate depth and division of florals with darker and lighter flowers. Use a dryer brush for a darker pigment. When completely dry, go back in with your coordinating marker to highlight/darken an area.
* Added a little Vanilla Smooch Spritz to the floral image and placed on dimensionals.

Hmmm, what went wrong? Looked so much better in my head. LOL Can't win 'em all!

First Day for the Last Day

Thank you Pals Paper Arts for picking my Hula Bear card as one of the winning 'Summer theme' picks! I'm so honored! Its Thursday again, so its time for another PPA challenge. Margaret Moody brings us a fantastic sketch to jumpstart our kreations.
Friday marks the end of pre-school for my daughter, so this sketch was timely for me to whip up something teacher-ish with the very fitting set, First Day, from the Summer Mini.

I used some brand new goodies that you'll be seeing very soon with the July 1st release of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog: Scallop Rectangle Clearlit, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, Marina Mist Cardstock.

* Real Red cardbase was run through my go-to Embossing Folder, Square Lattice, from the Summer Mini
* The tiny alphabet image was inked in Stazon Black across a strip of Daffodil Delight
* The 4 apples image inked in Stazon Black was also stamped across a stip of Whisper White. The apples were then colored in with SU Markers Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Old Olive, Real Red and highlighted with my White Signo Pen
* The numbers image follow suit across a Marina Mist strip. Followed by some faux stitching with my White Signo Pen
* Ran Whisper White through the Big Shot with soon to be released Scallop Rectangle Clearlit. NOW, what is so cool about this, I could have inked up my bookworm first and then positioned the clearlit where I wanted to cut him out. Of course I did it the hard way though LOL {Really, with the new clear mount option, the positioning was actually quite easy}
* Inked up my bookworm in Stazon Black and stamped onto my Scallop Rectangle. Using a blender pen, Old Olive ink, Marina Mist ink, Daffodil Delight ink and Real Red ink, I colored in my bookworm.
* Added some Crystal Effects to his glasses as his finishing touch
* 4 Old Olive punched Scallop Squares kreate the perfect matte for my little friend!

Its another PPA challenge and SUMMER is the theme. With summer comes many a party and get togethers. I decided to kreate a summery 'tropical' fun card - luau style :)

* Standard card base of Whisper White is sponged and masked with Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Close to Cocoa. The sand was also 'flecked' using the Color Spritzer and Choc Chip Marker.
* Palm trees in the distance were kreated from the Tropical Party set and inked with Choc Chip and Garden Green markers.

My Hula Bear:
* I ran a piece of Creamy Caramel cardstock through the Big Shot and the very cute Bigz Bear die.
* Then Pink Passion and Gable Green were placed on the Beary Essentials clothes die, little skirt and shoes, and cranked through the Big Shot. With my Paper Snips, I kreated my grass skirt. Cute, right??
* Yo Yo Yellow, Taken with Teal, Gable Green and Pink Passion blossoms, from the Boho Blossom Punch, decorate the top of this adorable grass skirt (if I do say so myself!)
* The bandeau swimtop was kreated from Pink Passion with the wings from the Extra Large Bird Punch. Dazzling Diamonds makes her top super diva-ish :)
* Another Pink Passionn Boho Blossom is tucked behind her ear. She is ready to hula!
* A coconut cocktail, from the Tropical Party set, in paw and she is ready for the summer festivities!!

KISS and a Smooch

Its time again for another challenge with the PPA. A KISS challenge, Keep It Simple Sweetie!! A KISS interpretation is to each his own though. For me it is to keep it to minimal/no layers, minimal/no embellishments, clean and minimal time to kreate (which I love, as sometimes I can spend over an hour on one card - many of you know what I'm talking about!) It can definitely be a challenge for me - who doesn't love layers, embellies, lots of 'fluff' :) Who woulda thunk it: simple= hard??? LOL

I LOVE how this looks in person!! The photo seems a bit 'off', but it was the best way I could capture how I Smooched it :)
* I started with a card base of Kraft cardstock (soon to be known as Crumb Cake in the upcoming Color Renovation)
* Inked up 2 images from Watercolor Trio (120084- clear mount)a new set coming in the Summer Mini (sales period begins May 1)in Soft Suede. HINT: For differing shades of color, I inked off once before stamping and gave a lot of pressure or lighter pressure to get lighter 'tones' of Soft Suede.
* Slightly offset the same image inked in Stazon White Ink to give a faux shadow look
* Added my butterfly with Soft Suede ink - again stamping off or not reinking between stamping
* Accented butterflies and floral images with a White Signo Gel Pen
* Sentiment from Thank You Kindly was inked in Choc Chip Craft ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder
* A White Taffeta knot added the perfect pop of 'bright'
* The finesse of this card, ahhhhh a little Smooch!! Gorgeous!! Here I used Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz - you will have 4 'colors' to smooch with in this upcoming mini. And you will LOVE the effect. This soft Vanilla Shimmer Spritz can be compared to Shimmer White Cardstock, but you'll be able to spritz it on any color cardstock you like. Hope that makes sense. SO pretty! I hope you can see it in the photo!

MOJO feelin' Spring-y

Its time to Play at the PPA and SPRING is in the air!! With the Northeast still blanketed over a foot (or for some 2-3) of melting snow, I am SO ready for spring!! I decided to combine this SPRING challenge with the recent Mojo Monday sketch. My focal point, the little bird and tulips, is from a great set called A Flower for All Seasons AND it could be yours FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50+ order!!! Don't delay, Sale-a-bration ends March 31st :( , so hurry hurry hurry, stock up on your favorites and earn some FREE products!!

* Inked up this adorable image, from A Flower for All Seasons, in Jet Black Stazon onto Watercolor Paper

* Using my Blender Pens and various inks (Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Old Olive, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa) as my palette, I colored it in. TIP: Squeeze your SU ink pad together and upon opening it, you will have a little pooling of ink to dip your pen or aquapainter into.

* Punched it out with my 1-3/8" Circle Punch

* Kreated a matte of Regal Rose and another of Pretty in Pink to put behind it using my Circle Scissor Plus to make perfect layers. Popped up the image on the layers with dimensionals.

* Certainly Celery is my cardbase with this soft plaid layer from Pawsitively Prints DSP (118060) - this was from the previous Holiday Mini, but IS still available to order!!

* My horizontal strip of Certainly Celery was given a decorative edge with the NEW Scallop Trim Border (available in the Sale-a-bration brochure with a $50+ order)

* Used the new Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon to run through the middle of the strip

* Sentiment taken from A Kind Word was inked with Regal Rose Marker in order to isolate words to stamp onto separate Pretty in Pink panels.

* Non SU adhesive backed pearls were placed on the corners of my sentiment as well as adding a little detail to the end of my Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink Ribbon strip.

Are ya feelin' SPRING??? I know I'm ready :)

The Birds

PPA31 has an Inspirational Challenge based on birds. While a certain one of my regular class attendees will groan at my mention of birds, I happen to adore them and love that they are all the trend right now!! As soon as I saw displays from Leadership, I knew I had to kreate this idea from Patty Bennett. A little birdhouse from the New Milk Carton Die (approx 3in h x 1.5in w). Now don't fret if you love this but don't own the Big Shot (what are you waiting for??!), you could use a handmade version/template with the same concept, using these directions.
* Run your cardstock through the Big Shot with your Milk Carton Die.
* Take your 1-1/4" Circle Punch for his front door. TIP: You may want to make a template and mark off on your carton where you'd like your 'door' so it isn't too close to a corner
* Using Sticky Tape, you want a strong hold to keep your carton together, adhere the side and bottom. Squeeze together the top to 'close' the carton. If you are using these as decoration, you can Sticky Tape the top together. For funtion (so I can add a few candies later), I slipped a paper clip on sideway. It will be hidden under my roof, but allow me to open it for goodies sake :)
* Using the New Large 2-step Bird Punch, from the Occasions Mini, I added my Certainly Celery stem, and Night of Navy bird with a Bashful Blue wing
* Added a cute little flower from the Egg-cellent Eggs Kit also in the Occasions Mini
* The roof was kreated with a 2x4 piece of Kraft cardstock. Giving the roof some flair, I used the Scallop Trim Border (available only in the SAB brochure with an order of $50+) and distressed the edges with a Sponge Dauber and Soft Suede ink. Another piece slightly smaller was given the same treatment for the roofline.
* Since my Egg-cellent Eggs Kit was out, I used a few of the Rub-Ons to accent the roofline.
* I used my bone folder to give the roof a good crease to lay on top of the carton. A little Dotto Removable adhesive would work to keep it intact if giving it away with some goodies and it won't get ruined. If just a decoration piece, use some adhesive on your roof.
I can't wait to get those little speckled egg candies that come out around Easter to put inside!! Cute right?!

IF you saw my 'Love Bird' post yesterday, I mentioned how I made samples for my dad to give my mom for Valentines day. Nothing elaborate as he gave me VERY short notice. I thought in my rush that I had forgotten to take a photo, it was just still on my camera! So this is the one he chose as my mom loves cardinals. Birthday KISS

Valentines may be over, but it is time to KISS and tell! Keep It Simple Sweetie and then tell the PPA what you kreated by posting to Mr Linky!
I kreated this simple card for my hubbys b-day which will also work for this weeks Stampin' Royalty Challenge #7, to kreate a Masculine card. NOT my strong point, but geometric patterns and KISSing helped with this one.

* Standard card base in Dusty Durango
* Whisper White panel stamped with images from Circle Circus in Old Olive, Dusty Durango, So Saffron and Close to Cocoa
* Sentiment from Well Scripted in the Occasions Mini inked up in Dusty Durango
* Thin strip of Old Olive across the bottom.

Voila', KISS baby! And change up the colors and this could easily be a feminine KISS card too! Hope it inspires you to try one out and then upload to Mr Linky at the PPA!

2 Challenges in 1

Purple and yellow is a hot color craze these days and my good friend Kris from Kween Bee Kreations put us up for a challenge. With these colors in mind and the current PPA sketch, by the talented Margaret Moody, this card had a jump start. If you are fumbling for an idea or inspiration, look to the many challenges out in blogland to get those kreative juices flowin'!
After almost 20" of snow yesterday, I needed to feel 'spring'.
* I grabbed A Kind Word set, and inked up the girl on her swing in Black Stazon and stamped onto Watercolor Paper.
* Using my Aquapainter, I colored in her hat and apron in Elegant Eggplant, her dress in Barely Banana, the bird in Summer Sun and the flowers in Orchid Opulence. Her skin colored with Blush Blossom and cheeks a rosy glow with a little Pretty in Pink. The background lightly colored with Almost Amethyst. TIP: Squeeze a closed SU pad and upon opening, you will have a little pool of ink in the lid to dip your aquapainter in. {Wishing the photo didn't wash it out so much, much prettier in person, but you'll just have to use your imagination to see more vivid colors!)
* Using Barely Banana and the new Scallop Trim Border (only available with a $50+ order in the Sale-a-bration brochure), I gave the image panel a decorative edge.
* Each scallop was enhanced a bit with a dollup of Frost Shimmer Paint (use an end of a paint brush or stylus to get a little dot of paint). When back to my image and added a few 'pearls' around her neck. Click on image to enlarge. Cute right?!
* Another piece of Barely Banana layered with a piece of Cottage Wall Designer paper kreates my vertical panel behind my focal point.
* Layered onto my standard card base of Orchid Opulence (once again my photo appears off - looking more pinkish than purple :( Bad lighting day!)
* Inked up the sentiment in Orchid Opulence and stamped onto Barely Banana and popped out with the Modern Label Punch. Popped out another Modern Label in Orchid Opulence and cut it in half to layer underneath. Popped up the sentiment with dimensionals
* A few half back pearls add just enough pizazz to finish off this card.

Inspired by Nature and the PPA challenge

I've had a lot going on lately and not much time to stamp for me, so I took a little me time to kreate a card using the PPA challenge. The challenge was to use Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and Basic Black. I immediately thought of a gorgeous sunset I had seen many years ago while visiting family in Arizona - so many hues of pink, just beautiful!! So I became Inspired by Nature :)

* I ran Whisper White through the Big Shot with my Top Note die
* Punched out a 1-3/4" Circle to use as a mask for my sun
* I sponged on a touch of Apricot Appeal (I know its not in the challenge palette, but it is just a touch) around the mask
* Took away the mask and layered Pretty in Pink all over the rest of the card (the color of this photo seems to be a bit washed out - sorry, really has much more pink hues in person) and a bit over the stark white circle to soften it
* Then sponged the bottom quarter with some Melon Mambo
* Inked up the grasses from Inspired by Nature in Basic Black, inked off once onto scrap and then onto the lower portion of the top note. Then inked up the grasses again with Jet Black Stazon to get a darker more crisp image. Gives an appearance of depth to the grasses. Added a few wheat grasses in Jet Black Stazon from the Autumn Days set
* Highlighted some of the grasses and wheat with my Signo White Gel Pen. Also a few 'whisps' across the sky. TIP: to get your pen flowing, roll it across the back of your hand - the oils from your skin will help to draw out the ink.
* Inked up my new Clear Mount set Well Scripted, from the Occasions Mini, in Jet Black Stazon. Isn't that font gorgeous?!
* Matted the Top Note onto a Melon Mambo Top Note that I cut in half to show above and below.
* Layered onto Basic Black and then a Pretty in Pink card base.
* Kreated Black Brads using my 5/16" Neutrals Brads. How you ask? I took my silver brads and squished them into my VersaMark pad, then dipped into Black Embossing Powder and melted the powder with my heat tool! TIP: Do NOT attempt to hold your brad, you will scorch your much needed crafting fingers!!! Instead, what I do is squish in the pad and then with a clothespin (the spring loaded wooden clamp ones), I clamp the legs of the brad, dip into powder and heat up. Works great every time!

Ahhhhhh, I needed this serene scene! With a 'huge' snow storm (or so they say) headed our way this weekend, I will leave this card in view and think of the warmer days to come :)
