KISS and a Smooch

Its time again for another challenge with the PPA. A KISS challenge, Keep It Simple Sweetie!! A KISS interpretation is to each his own though. For me it is to keep it to minimal/no layers, minimal/no embellishments, clean and minimal time to kreate (which I love, as sometimes I can spend over an hour on one card - many of you know what I'm talking about!) It can definitely be a challenge for me - who doesn't love layers, embellies, lots of 'fluff' :) Who woulda thunk it: simple= hard??? LOL

I LOVE how this looks in person!! The photo seems a bit 'off', but it was the best way I could capture how I Smooched it :)
* I started with a card base of Kraft cardstock (soon to be known as Crumb Cake in the upcoming Color Renovation)
* Inked up 2 images from Watercolor Trio (120084- clear mount)a new set coming in the Summer Mini (sales period begins May 1)in Soft Suede. HINT: For differing shades of color, I inked off once before stamping and gave a lot of pressure or lighter pressure to get lighter 'tones' of Soft Suede.
* Slightly offset the same image inked in Stazon White Ink to give a faux shadow look
* Added my butterfly with Soft Suede ink - again stamping off or not reinking between stamping
* Accented butterflies and floral images with a White Signo Gel Pen
* Sentiment from Thank You Kindly was inked in Choc Chip Craft ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder
* A White Taffeta knot added the perfect pop of 'bright'
* The finesse of this card, ahhhhh a little Smooch!! Gorgeous!! Here I used Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz - you will have 4 'colors' to smooch with in this upcoming mini. And you will LOVE the effect. This soft Vanilla Shimmer Spritz can be compared to Shimmer White Cardstock, but you'll be able to spritz it on any color cardstock you like. Hope that makes sense. SO pretty! I hope you can see it in the photo!

Be Inspired...

What better way to start off your inspiration than with a challenge? This is an amazingly talented group and I know you are going to love them and be inspired by them. I am lucky they are my PALS :) I am happy to say this card was inspired by the very first color challenge on the new Pals Paper Arts Challenge Blog. Bermuda Bay, Choc Chip and Melon Mambo -I'm so excited to participate. The link will be located here on Stamp, scrap, get kreative on my right sidebar. Make sure to check back every Thursday for the newest challenge.
*I started with a Bermuda Bay (boy is it ever popular with me lately) standard size card base, and inked my flourish from Friends 24-7, in Whisper White and stamped.
*Then I kreated a shadow by inking up with Bermuda Bay ink and offsetting my image slightly over my Whisper White image. Cool effect, right?!
*Then I took my Bella's Border Wheel and introduced it to some ink. First Whisper White and then Choc Chip were run along a piece of Choc Chip cardstock to kreate that same shadow effect.

*Little tricky with the wheel, so I will show you a trick. See the seam on your wheel (click photo to enlarge, you may see it better), start your wheel and seam at the very edge of your paper and roll your first ink color - in this case Whisper White. Tip: Because I'm not doing a long/large wheeling area, I just roll my wheel across my stamp pad and then onto my cardstock.

*Then ink up your second color, here Choc Chip was run across my pad, NOW, key is to move your seam a tad so you don't start at the same point. Viola', instant shadow technique.
You can purchase the Wheel Guide (104834) to avoid crooked lines or overlapping images. Hint: I use a thick edged straight ruler to run my wheel along to keep my image in line.
Give it a whirl on your wheel :)
* Added a few non-SU rhinestones, who doesn't like a little bling :)

New Technique and Fifth Avenue Floral

Ok, onto this new technique for me... bleach! Yep, you read that correct. I kreated an ink pad with a paper towel and saturated it with bleach. Now please be careful, we all know the hazards of bleach! I 'inked' up my stamp,like you would any other and pressed it onto Baja Breeze. Give it a second for the image to appear - its like magic - at first you don't see anything and then voila'. TIP: SU states not to worry about your stamp as long as you clean it right away.
After stamping each flower, from Fifth Avenue Floral, with bleach, I then went back and 'shadowed' them with Baja Breeze. I 'highlighted' the centers of the two smaller flowers with my VersaMarker and then added some Iridecent Ice Embossing Powder to give them a little sparkle. Click to enlarge the photo for more detail. My sentiment from Sincere Salutations is also bleached. Three Choc Chip brads and the cute choc chip polka dot ribbon from the Valet Ribbon Originals pack finish it off. I sponged the edges with Baja Breeze, snipped 3 corners with my Corner Rounder, placed it on Very Vanilla and finally on Choc Chip.

Just Sparkle

Love this new set of 6, Snow Swirled, which is 15% off until Sept 30. Kreated my tree on Whisper White, first stamped with VersaMark and sprinkled with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder (and heated) and then again in Baja Breeze ink. It gave my tree a 'shadowed' and sparkly feel. Layered my tree on a piece of Brushed Silver paper and then Baja Breeze. Randomly stamped some of the snowflakes from this set in VersaMark and again heat embossed with Iridescent Ice to make them sparkle. This card is so pretty in person and unfortunately the photo doesn't pick up the luster and sparkle - so hope you can use your imaginations. My sentiment is from Heard from the Heart and inked in Baja Breeze. I used my VersaMarker to highlight a few of the letters with some more 'sparkle' - like snowflakes leaving a dusting behind. Hey Mets Fans...

Well, if you are a NY Mets fan, you'll love this color combo. :) I was playing around with the New In Colors and I have yet to touch Tangerine Tango. So it was time. I laid Pacific Point and Whisper White next to it and I thought it looked like an OK combo. But after finishing, its NOT my favorite combo- sorry Mets fans (could be cause I'm Not a huge orange fan). But I thought I'd share with you anyway. I used my Coluzzle to pop up my half circle at the top of my card. Tangerine Tango was Scallop Punched and placed in the middle of my circle and my Pacific Point butterfly, from the Priceless set, was set on dimensionals. I inked 2 more butterflies in Pacific Point and gave them a 'flight path' with a Whisper White flourish, again from Priceless, shadowed by a Pacific Point flourish. I used the same 'shadowing' technique with my sentiment. The bottom piece of Tangerine Tango is embossed the ol fashion way with light box and Priceless Stencil (flower). Unfortunately this picture doesn't show the embossed images well, but it is pretty. (if you click on the image to enlarge, you may see the detail a bit better) The edges are decorated using the new Scallop Edge Punch and a White Signo Gel pen finished off the top with alittle faux stitching and some highlighting. What do ya think? Definitely not my normal card, but its good to go out of comfort zone every once in awhile, right????
