Just Beachy

This card was inspired by 2 challenges this week, SCS Color Challenge 220So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Bashful Blue andSCS Sketch Challenge 230. Denise and I are part of the same demo group and I want to say congrats to her, that her color combo was selected for this weeks challenge. Check out her adorable card sample here that uses the Choo Choo set, from the Occasions Mini catalog.
So, the colors made me think BEACH :) Ahhhh!! Drifted away there a minute. I used images from the Just Beachy set also in the Occasions Mini catalog. Don't wait, you only have until June 30th to order from this catalog.
I used a piece of retired Bashful Blue designer paper that had some swirls and swishes that made me think ocean waves, I highlighted a few with my White Signo Gel Pen. I ran my vertical piece of Pumpkin Pie through my Big Shot with the Texturz Background also swirlies. Then I used a Sanding Block on the embossed swirlies to kreate a 'whitish' look on the embossed image. I colored all my images in with my So Saffron, Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie SU Markers and accented with my White Signo Gel Pen. I printed out my sentiment on the computer, punched it out using my Word Window Punch. Followed my sketch and colors, Just Beachy! :)

Simply Scrappin' and Havin' Fun

Tonight I am having a scrapbooking class, so I am busy with those last minute preparations (I always feel like I have it all together and then without fail, there are always last minute things to do). Anyway, these are some of the 20 - 6x6 pages we will be completing using the Sunshine Garden Simply Scrappin' Kit. If you love this kit, or any of the Simply Scrappin' Kits, but don't feel you're a 'scrapbooker', you can absolutely customize it to your card making liking :) With each 12x12 textured cardstock you can cut 4 4x8 sections (to be 4x4 cards)yielding 32 card bases AND you still have the double sided paper and adhesive die cuts to embellish with. WOW right?! Makes you look at a Scrappin Kit a bit differently now doesn't it :)

The scrap pages you see here are from a list of classes on our demonstrator webpage, these inspired by Brenda Millers class (it is best to credit someone elses idea, if not your own!). I usually come up with my own classes, but if you really like something why recreate the wheel, right? This is one of the awesome benefits of being a demonstrator. We have our own monthly magazine filled with creative ideas and inspiration as well as a website packed with information, techniques, project ideas and YES, classes! If you're thinking you aren't creative enough, there are many resources, like ones I've listed above, where the work has been done for you. Keep it exactly the same, or start with the idea and run with it. Thinking you'd like to have fun, like me, and earn a little extra income too,Join my Team.

Happy Memorial Day

A huge Thank You to all who have served.
This card will travel some miles and hopefully remind one of the many service members that they are appreciated for all they do.

Its never to late to send cards to Operation Gratitude who will forward them to military service members stationed overseas.

The cards are to be mailed to:
Operation Gratitude
16444 Refugio Road
Encino,CA 91436

Here are some guidelines to follow when sending cards to our troops:
· any size card is acceptable
· the cards can NOT have any glitter on them
· no candy or food items can be included or attached to the card
· keep the message positive and stay away from political comments
· do NOT seal the envelope that will be used to sent the card to the military member; all cards are subject to screening and review
· include your name, address and e-mail if you’d like to receive a reply back
· it’s nice to include another card that they can send back to their family and loved ones (cards are difficult for our military serving in combat areas to purchase)
. If you are sending more then one card; place all of your cards in a Ziploc bag with post-it notes on the cards that are to be sent for the service member to mail back.

No frills, not all sure I'm thrilled, but to the point and heartfelt all the same. :) I had to try and be kreative - without a star punch, without a 'patriotic' stamp set...hmmmm! Have you tried out the Printed Window Sheets in the Occasions Mini? Fabulous, quick, easy! My window sheet, with the beautiful Whisper White design already kreated for me, was cut to 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 and placed on to my Real Red card base. I used my Mat Pack and piercer to place holes through both the window sheet and cardstock and slip my brad through. I've had these non-SU star brads stashed for quite some time, but I think they give it the right patriotic feel. A 1/4" White Grosgrain Ribbon finishes off the top. I'm off to go through my card stash and maybe kreate a few more of these quick cards to send off to Operation Gratitude. I hope you'll join me in honoring them in this way. God Bless

Right on Target

It was teacher appreciation last week and for each day my daughter went in she had a little gift for them. Click on the highlighted word to see the notepad holders and paperclips. I found these adorable apple oil reed diffusers and apple pedicure sets in the $1 bin at Target. WaHoo, love a deal! And they really were so cute. I wish I had photographed the actual gift to show you just how cute they were! Each gift fit just perfectly inside my Big Shot Bag with Scallops. And how easy this was - zipped my Bag with Scallops and Real Red cardstock through the Big Shot added my Sticky Strip adhesive to adhere my bag together and instant cute bag :)
Crunched for time? but still want to decorate? - Easy, Die Cuts! Perfect accents already cut for you just pop them out and adhere to your project. And they come with 4 sheets, 1 of each color. Have fun and mix and match your pieces.
So I took my Blooms Die Cuts and pressed them onto my VersaMark pad and then sprinkled Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heat set them to give them a beautiful sparkle. Layered them together with a Fresh Favorites II Button for a purdy accent. Stamped 'For You' from Fresh Cuts on Pumpkin Pie with Pumpkin Pie Craft ink and again, heat embossed with Iridescent Ice. HINT: You can get all the glitz without getting the glitz on you by using Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder vs Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. Love both products, but when I use alot of glitz, like I did for my blooms, I usually choose to heat set the sparkle so my recipient isn't full of sparkles. TIP: To heat emboss you will need to use either Craft Ink or VersaMark, this is a sticky ink which always your powder to stick to it.
Popped out my sentiment with the Word Window. Used my Crop-a-Dile to punch out 2 holes at the top to feed my So Saffron Ribbon through. And there you have a cute and very easy to create bag. The teachers loved it, hope you do too :)

Shake It Up

My niece just turned 8 and I wanted to kreate a fun, whimsical type card. My Seeing Spots set kreates the whimsy and the fun comes when you shake the card. Little micro beads bouncing off the acetate - you can shake it for hours, its addicting.
* First I stamped my image in VersaMark on Whisper White and sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and heated it up for the raised shiny embossed effect. I used my Blender Pen to color it in and highlighted my sprinkles with my 2 way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds.
* I cut out my rectangle on my Whisper White Card front and then used my Sponge Dauber to dab Rose Red around my frame.
* Decorated my card front with Seeing Spots, in Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Perfect Plum.
* Adhered a piece of window sheet/acetate (or you can use transparency sheets) about 1/8" larger than the frame, to the inside of the card/behind the frame.
* Placed mounting tape all around the frame. Make sure to avoid any gaps or your beads will escape
* Peel off mounting tape layer
* Add your shaker filling (in my case Clear Micro Beads)
* Place your finished image (cut larger than your mounting tape) and adhere to mounting tape.
* Your shaker card is ready to rock n roll :)

Finished my card with 1/4" Rose Red Grosgrain Ribbon and bow. Stamped a few more spots on my envelope flap to kreate the perfect coordinating envelope.

Birdie in the Park

Beautiful weather, playing outside with the kids, gardening to do, spring cleaning and de-pollinating everything (anyone elses furniture have a hue of Kiwi Kiss? ) ~ I haven't had much of an opportunity to play along with many challenges lately and I think I may have lost a bit of my MOJO :( With a busy schedule I didn't get the chance to post the OCC sketch from last week (a little twist from a demo challenge as well with a bird theme), but here it is. Not how I envisioned this card turning out. Baja Breeze base is cut at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored in half with the fold at the top. A Walk in the Park DSP (Occasions Mini) and coordinating Basic Gray kreate my panels. I had to go back to the old fashioned pencil and stencil to cut out my ovals. I thought I did a decent job cutting until I placed my layers together ~ I think I faked it well by off setting them a bit. Never a mistake, only creative opportunities :) But I do love the ease of the Big Shot so now you know, I'll be 'needing' to get the Big Shot Ovals Originals Dies (114525) very soon :)
Cool Tip: With my oval stencils, I traced a smaller oval onto the Whisper White using my stylus to get an embossed/raised 'frame' inside my larger oval and around bird. Click on photo to enlarge for more detail. I inked up my bird from the Always set, in Baja Breeze, removed ink from the feet and used my Basic Black Marker to ink them back up again. Then using my Cameo Coral Marker I colored in a few of the flowers in the bird image. Highlighted those flowers a bit more with my 2 way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds. Surrounding my bird I used one of the small flower stamps from the Always set and inked it Versamark. Went over those flowers again with my 2 way glue pen and Dazzled some more Diamonds. Adhered my oval-ish image layer and then added some freehand dots with my White Signo Gel Pen.
Back to some more cleaning - ICK!

A Spoonful of Sugar

Sorry to be missing, but I'll give you a briefing :) A busy week, computer issues and then a jam packed weekend ending with a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day. Friday night my daughter and I, two of her cousins and her Nana went to see a amateur production of Beauty and the Beast. Saturday we spent the day trying to get rid of all those things you somehow collect over time and then say what the heck am I saving this for ~ 'junk' sale. And today, the spoonful of sugar (I can't stop humming it), we went into the New York to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. My daughter (soon to be 5) had never been to the city and was amazed by...everything. This is her in the car looking at all the many sites and the 'ginormous' buildings. A smile to capture, a memory to cherish. I wish I had captured her face when my husband and I told her we were going to see Mary Poppins - another smile ear to ear if you could imagine. And this is her with her program anxiously waiting to go to our seats.
Hope you don't mind me sharing :)

Sweet

I was in a pinch for a 'quick' card for a 5 year old birthday party. I recalled seeing these ice cream cones floating around in blogland so I thought I'd make it work. I'm not loving this card, but I know the recipient will be more interested in the present anyway. LOL I decided to show you, because its easy enough to reproduce and hopefully you'll like your rendition :)
* Use your Scallop Punch to pop out your flavored 'scoops' and cut a portion of the scallops off. Dip your flavors onto a VersaMark pad and sprinkle with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. Heat with heating tool to set the sparkle. TIP: If using a lot of glitz, I prefer Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder over Dazzling Diamonds glitter, so I can heat set the sparkle. Although I love Dazzling Diamonds too, with a card like this with a lot of sparkle, I prefer my recipient not be full of glitter when they handle their card :)
* Run a piece of Kraft cardstock through your Big Shot with the Argyle looking Texturz Background Plate. Then cut that into a triangle for your cone. Take a sponge dauber and lightly sweep across the triangle and raised 'texture' with Close to Cocoa. You can also do the edges to add a more dimensional look.
* Ran my Pretty in Pink through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Texturz Background Plate. Tip: For deeper embossing I add an extra piece of cardstock as a shim to my layers. I've also heard success with misting your cardstock lightly with water before running it through the Big Shot
* Layered on top of a Rose Red card base 5-1/2x8-1/2 scored and folded in half at the side.
* Used my Big Shot to zip out some Rose Red Go Go Boots Alphabet letters.
* Finished it off with a double helping of Certainly Celery and Rose Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon along the side.
Sweet!

Really simple, go ahead, go make something sweet :) and then get kreative :)

A Coordinating Clip

With those cute Notepads, you need a cute paper clip. And when its easy to do, why not, even if you don't need it, its still cute!! :)
A cinch to coordinate these jumbo paper clips with the notepad holders I showed you yesterday.
* Punch out 2 Scallop Circles
* Used my SU Markers to ink up my Soft Summer (Occasions Mini) flower and stamp onto Whisper White
* Using Blender Pens, finished coloring in the image. TIP: Kreate a pool of ink to dip your Blender Pen in by squeezing together an SU pad. Upon opening you will have a small pool of ink in your lid to begin coloring with. Simply scribble off the ink on your Blender Pen on a piece of scrap and go to your next color.
* Punched out the image using 1-3/8" Circle Punch and place Circle Rhinestones in the center of each flower
* Place top of paper clip on a large glue dot and sandwich between two Scallop Circles.

A cinch right and the perfect little accent for any stationary gift

Notepad Holders

Ok, back to our regularly scheduled programming :) Wow, I'm sorry to not have posted any kreations since Friday - life happens :) I've been kreating lots of little gifts lately and this was one of the gifts for my daughters preschool teachers last week. The idea for a pocket/refillable notebook cover came from Lisa Somerville. I had to come up with my own dimensions as her notepad was much smaller and she could kreate the cover using 1 sheet of cardstock. I figured out how to fit my larger notepad using the same pocket concept. I picked up these monogram notepads at Michaels for $1, they were about 3-3/4 x 9 and I decorated them to be a very cute gift - BONUS, they color coordinated perfectly with our SU colors. I had to use 2 sheets of cardstock to get my desired pocket effect. You may be wondering what I mean by pocket - the back of the notepad which is usually a thin piece of cardboard, will slide into this pocket, so when the pad runs out, they can slip another notepad in its spot. These particular measurements fit my notepad, so you may need to alter them depending on the size you have. TIP#1: For any size pad, take a piece of copy paper and place your pad in the middle and mark approx 1/8" from the sides of your pad to kreate a template for your pocket piece.
*Take 1 piece of 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock and score it at 3-7/16 and 7-9/16. Fold pieces inward kreating a 'gate' type card and your soon to be pocket. TIP#2 Before adhering the 'pocket' make sure the cardboard backing of your notepad slides in. Then adhere with sticky strip to close pocket.
*Take an additional piece of cardstock for the cover that measures 4-1/8 x 9-3/4 (again this is for my pad). TIP: Whatever width your middle panel is for your pocket part, will be the width you will need for your cover. Then at one end I scored at 5/8" and 1-1/16" (depends on the thickness of your pad). This will wrap around top of pad.
*Next I decorated the front of the cover (supplies listed below)
*Placed sticky strip on the 5/8" portion and slide it into my pocket to kreate a flap/cover to my notepad.
*The final touch, adhered ribbon at the top with sticky strip (under the flap, between score marks). Cute right?! And funtional, gotta love it :)
I hope that you can understand my wordy (possibly too simple) directions. It really is simple though. I played around with copy paper until I got it right and then transferred my dimensions to cardstock. Give it a try! Totally transforms an ordinary notepad. By the way, they were a hit with the teachers!! :) I don't think the photos do them justice. I am more than happy to help, if my directions are too confusing, just email me! Sorry for the long post!

Tomorrow I'll show you the cute little paper clips that I made to go along with them too. Gotta run for now - dinner to prepare, some play time with the kids outside, 1 more load of laundry - life :)

Show me the Money :)

The most popular gift lately seems to be money. With upcoming graduations, birthday parties, weddings, engagements, I thought it would be appropriate for my guests at my last workshop to make a simple money holder. Simple indeed! This template is thanks to Patty Bennett. Now there is no reason you can't give it a try - directions are easy peesy!
This starts with a base of Cameo Coral cut at 9-1/4" x 7" and scored at 3" and 6-1/4" (your middle panel will be slightly larger). TIP: These cards will fit into a regular, non-SU NO. 10 size envelope. Measure and place a mark an 1" from the score line and an inch from the bottom and then cut your diagonal. TIP: I used only a Clear Rhinestone Brad for closure, but money will be smaller than most gift certificates, so you may want to add a strip of sticky strip to enclose the end.
I decorated the front with a piece of Whisper White layered with A Walk in the Park DSP. I used my Word Window Punch on my Designer Paper to punch out a a spot to add my sentiment. TIP: I'm pretty good at eyeballing things and set my sentiment in Basic Gray just right, but if you have a Stamp-a-mi-jig you may want to use that for your perfect placement. The final touches to inside and out were these adorable flowers, using the Simple Flowers Embosslit, popped out in seconds using my Big Shot. Added some Crystal Effects and sprinkled on a dusting of Dazzling Diamonds for a little pizazz. Like it? Thought they were cute, quick and easy. Definitely can be made under 15 minutes without adding lots of detail.

Are you liking that DSP? Now is the time to stock up on your favorite Designer Series Paper or 12 x 12 Textured Cardstock. Buy 3 get one FREE! Click here to see ALL May promotions.

A Time to Celebrate

'Tis the season of graduation. The hostess at my last party had a request for some graduation ideas. She is a brand new stamper with limited supplies, so this card could be replicated with ease and minimal supplies. I did use my Big Shot w/ the Texturz Background Plates on the Very Vanilla base (I just love using my Big Shot for the extra detail), but this step could easily be omitted and still be a cute card. I used the 1-3/8" Square Punch to kreate the first Basic Black square. I don't have any larger square punches, so easy enough to use my paper cutter to kreate 2 larger squares (cutting about 1/8" larger) in Brushed Silver and Basic Black. Layer them together and used a Silver Brad to pierce through the center. Before piercing your brad through, you'll want to tuck your little ribbon under the brad too. Tip: Use a paper piercer or crafting needle to pierce through your 3 layers of cardstock and ribbon and then slip your brad through - much to thick to try and push your brad through without some help. I frayed the edges of my ribbon easily by cutting the ribbon straight across and it usually begins on its own with a 'stray' thread. Continue to pull pieces of thread until you get your desired amount of 'fray'. Now you've got your little grad cap, pop it up on a dimensional and its a very cute 3-D accent. Diploma: easy peesy - took a strip of copy paper, rolled it and tied it off. Attached it next to my cap with a small Glue Dot. Can you believe I don't have a single stamp that says 'congratulations'? With all the sets I own, I couldn't believe it!! But this sentiment from A Little Birthday Cheer, I think fits perfectly. Stamped in Basic Black once on the Very Vanilla base and then again on a piece of Very Vanilla scrap with VersaMark and then sprinkled with Black Embossing Powder. Tip: You will need to use either Craft Ink or VersaMark for your powder to stick to and once heated up with your Heat Tool, you will achieve a glossy raised image. I love embossing, such a great effect!
After the embossed image cools a bit, I popped out the sentiment with my Word Window Punch and then 'fed' it through the punch again to get just the 'you' portion. Popped that up on a dimensional and the card was done.

A great option would be to use some Designer Series Paper as your background too. And now is the time to stock up. Buy 3 get 1 FREE. Check out the details of May promotions!.

Soft Summer Tango

Weekend guests, workshop, class, oh my! Busy, busy weekend! This will be a quick post as I have a class to finish preparing for tonight. Soft Summer has been a go to set lately, quickly becoming my favorite set from the Occasions Mini. This is one of the cards that my hostess and her guests made at her party yesterday. Thanks Carol for opening up your home to me and your friends for a fun afternoon of stamping. If you live in the Bergen County New Jersey area, contact me and I'd be happy to party with you too. Host a party and have a great time with friends and rewards for hosting. WIN WIN! Not wanting all the work of hosting a party in your home, host a catalog party. I'm more than happy to party in either fashion :)

It has been quite some time since I've scrapped. Here and there I'll do a little, but I have a lot to catch up on. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about. I'm not sure if I'm thrilled with this 8x8 page, but I will sleep on it and see if it grows on me. Time flies, this picture was taken 2 years ago on a vacation and believe it or not it was not a posed picture - a quick snap when she was giggling about trying 'crabby legs'. I like to scrap 12x12 pages, so this will eventually become a part of a progressive page. And now is a great time to stock up on some Designer Series Paper (dsp) and/or 12x12 Textured Cardstock, whether you are a scrapbooking or card maker, don't miss out! Offer available May 1-31

It's my one year BLOGIVERSARY here at Stamp, scrap, get kreative and 210 posts later! Leave me a comment on what you think of this page or how I can make it better or what you'd like to see here on my blog and you could be the winner of a few little goodies and the 'Yummy' set from the previous SAB catalog (if you have this set we can talk about an alternate set :) ). I will announce a winner Monday May 4th.
