Inspired Coordination

My card yesterday inspired my coordinating project. Have you used any of the SU Stencils? Check out the Definitely Decorative Catalog to see more (pgs 28-31). This is the Kind Thoughts Stencil that I used on the On Board Journal. I love it!!
*I used Removable Dotto on my stencil and laid it over my journal.
*Applied Choc Chip Craft ink with a dauber over my stencil. The ink absorbs quickly into the chipboard journal, so I went over the stencil again to keep it as wet as possible.
*Removed the stencil and applied some Clear Embossing Powder and used my heat tool to give the raised, shiny embossed image. SO pretty!!
*Laid the stencil back over, slightly offset, and kreated my shadow again with Bermuda Bay ink. (to keep with my shadow technique of yesterdays card)
*Removed the rhinestones from my Clear Rhinestone Brads and adhered them to my image with a dab of Crystal Effects. Tip: to remove the stone, just pull back brad legs and little prongs and the stone will just pop out.
*Used my dauber and some Soft Suede ink to lightly accent my journal.
*Isolated the words Define Your Life with my Bermuda Bay Marker and stamped onto my journal. A simple look, but I like it.

Then I went on to kreate my bookmark.
*The Lovely Letter 'L' was inked in Choc Chip and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder on Melon Mambo
*Used the square hardware from Silver Hodgepodge Hardware set and adhered my 'L' onto the back with Crystal Effects.
*Covered the back with a square piece of Kaleidoscope DSP(one of the flowers) to keep it pretty and neat (sorry I didn't photo that, but you'll have to take my word that it looks pretty)
*Threaded Bermuda Bay polka dot grosgrain into each end of the holes in the hardware
*Added a Circle Fire Rhinestone at one end - knotted at the other with a Filigree Brad threaded through. Fun little bookmark :)

Any questions, feel free to ask! Leave me a comment and let me know what ya think. I'm trying to decide if I should make a few of these for a craft fair in the fall

Be Inspired...

What better way to start off your inspiration than with a challenge? This is an amazingly talented group and I know you are going to love them and be inspired by them. I am lucky they are my PALS :) I am happy to say this card was inspired by the very first color challenge on the new Pals Paper Arts Challenge Blog. Bermuda Bay, Choc Chip and Melon Mambo -I'm so excited to participate. The link will be located here on Stamp, scrap, get kreative on my right sidebar. Make sure to check back every Thursday for the newest challenge.
*I started with a Bermuda Bay (boy is it ever popular with me lately) standard size card base, and inked my flourish from Friends 24-7, in Whisper White and stamped.
*Then I kreated a shadow by inking up with Bermuda Bay ink and offsetting my image slightly over my Whisper White image. Cool effect, right?!
*Then I took my Bella's Border Wheel and introduced it to some ink. First Whisper White and then Choc Chip were run along a piece of Choc Chip cardstock to kreate that same shadow effect.

*Little tricky with the wheel, so I will show you a trick. See the seam on your wheel (click photo to enlarge, you may see it better), start your wheel and seam at the very edge of your paper and roll your first ink color - in this case Whisper White. Tip: Because I'm not doing a long/large wheeling area, I just roll my wheel across my stamp pad and then onto my cardstock.

*Then ink up your second color, here Choc Chip was run across my pad, NOW, key is to move your seam a tad so you don't start at the same point. Viola', instant shadow technique.
You can purchase the Wheel Guide (104834) to avoid crooked lines or overlapping images. Hint: I use a thick edged straight ruler to run my wheel along to keep my image in line.
Give it a whirl on your wheel :)
* Added a few non-SU rhinestones, who doesn't like a little bling :)

Christmas in July?

I wasn't quite ready to make a Christmas card, BUT I've been wanting to play my new set. I had to have this new Good Cheer set, I just love this image of Santa and the deer. Do you remember my waterfall Christmas in July card last year? Click here to refresh your memory :) Do you see any resemblance? I love the none traditional colors of Christmas and Bermuda Bay has just taken place of Baja Breeze (never thought I could miss a color as much as I miss that one!!) But I'm loving this combo just as much!
I kreated this card with the Mojo Monday sketch as my inspiration.

* I used my Circle Scissors cutter (at 3cm) to cut out my Very Vanilla piece.
Then moved my dial to the very next tick mark and cut out my Choc Chip circle

* Inked up my image with a Dauber and Basic Brown ink (to isolate just Santa and the deer). Initially was planning to highlight my image with some colors, but ended up liking him as is.

* Ruby Red was run through my Big Shot with the Scallop #2 die

* The lower half of my Bermuda Bay standard card was run through the small polka dots Background Texturz Plate. The raised, embossed dots were 'scuffed' up lightly with a Sanding Block

* My snowflakes from the Christmas Punches Hostess lev 2 set were inked in Versamark and given a coating of Iridescent Ice and then set with my heat tool to given them their shimmer. So Cool - every image in this set has a coordinating punch. These snowflakes were popped out with the Boho Blossoms punch.

* My sentiment is from the Good Cheer set, using my Basic Brown dauber to isolate my words (the inside of the card has the rest of the sentiment) and stamped onto Very Vanilla

* A Ruby Red Photo Corner Punch and Boho Blossom punched out Bermuda Bay snowflake accent my corner.

* Used my dauber and Choc Chip ink along some edges.

Hope you enjoyed a little Christmas in July :) Leave me a comment and let me know what ya think - love it when ya do

Simply Vintage

I'm off for a long weekend, but I'll be back Monday - especially to announce the final Deal of the Week.
I think Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede gives a sense of vintage as does this set, Friends 24-7. Its been my go to set lately, this vintagey card being my favorite kreation with it thus far. The recipient of this card likes rustic, antique, vintage - I think she will like it. I thought I'd make a very simple, no layers, easy to replicate monogram card and if she likes them, she (or I) can quickly make some more.

* Bermuda Bay standard card base 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 scored at the top. Corners detailed with a Corner Rounder Punch. Hint: make sure to do the corners on both the front and back of the card
* Image (flourish?) from Friends 24-7 is inked in Whisper White Craft and then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. Tip: You will need to use either VersaMark or Craft ink for your embossing as this ink is sticky and allows the powder to adhere to it before setting with your heat tool
* Inked in Bermuda Bay is my monogram from Lovely Letters onto Whisper White, then punched out with the Scallop Square Punch and placed it on my card with dimensionals
* The edges of my Scallop Square were given a deeper sponging of Soft Suede and then lightly I sponged over the entire square
* The edges of the card and card front were also sponged in Soft Suede, the edges given a little more attention for a deeper/darker look.
* Tied a Kraft Taffeta bow and adhered with a mini glue dot

Pretty quick card to kreate. Hope she'll like it

Soft Silhouettes

A sketch is always a great place to start to get your kreative juices flowin'. This card was inspired by this weeks Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge 238 (every Wednesday a new sketch is revealed if you need a little boost of kreativity).
* Soft Suede kreates my standard card base 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" folded at the top.
* A piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, cut approx 1/8" smaller, is run through the Big Shot with the new Perfect Details Texturz Plate
* An image from the Pocket Silhouettes set was inked out in Choc Chip Craft ink and stamped onto Very Vanilla three times and then covered with Clear Embossing Powder and using my heat tool to give it that embossed, shiny, raised look.
* Each image was punched out with the Scallop Square Punch
* The images were popped up on dimensionals on a Soft Suede panel
* 2 brads from the Neutrals Assortment were added to the end of the panel which was then layered onto the Very Vanilla.
* Adhered a little faux bow and piece of Soft Suede ribbon to the top of my Soft Suede panel
* My 'thank you' comes from the set Thank You Kindly, inked in Choc Chip Craft and again heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder

I really like how soft this simple color combo turned out. Whatcha think? Leave me a comment and let me know - love it when ya do :)

Trinket Matchbox Tower

This ever so cute 'trinket' box is kreated using the Big Shot and the Matchbox die. Only Orange, Summer Sun, and Pixie Pink are each run through the Big Shot to kreate my 3 matchboxes. With the perfect scored and popped out template, I easily assembled my boxes - Bonus: no adhesive is necessary to assemble the matchbox base!
At this point, to kreate the 'tower' you will need some adhesive. I placed some Sticky Strip on the bottom of the box and adhered the boxes on top of each other. Then I took a piece of the new Kaleidoscope DSP (2-5/8 x 7-1/4) and wrapped it around my tower of boxes. TIP: Also adhered with Sticky Tape for a strong hold.
Each matchbox was adorned with Crushed Curry or Melon Mambo Ribbon and Flower Assortment Brads for the 'handle'. Isn't it so adorable? And with the Big Shot doing most of the work for you, its a pretty quick project too! Thanks to Gretchen Barron for coming up with this adorable project. I hope you have the Big Shot and this fun Matchbox Die to play with! If not, you can order it :) , SHOP NOW online with me or contact me if you'd like my help in ordering. Delightful Daisies

Simple, but I'd like to say WOW! I love this Big Shot Daisies Die. Rich Razzleberry kreates my perfectly warm and elegant background for my bold, beautiful daisies. I ran my Daises Die and Whisper White cardstock through the Big Shot twice. On all 6 flowers, I used my Dauber and Crushed Curry ink to lightly 'accent' my petals. Layered them together and used my fingers to slightly curl the edges up and placed a yellow Circle Fire Rhinestone brad in the center. Stamped my sentiment in Versamark and added White Embossing Powder and heated it up for that slightly raised embossed and shiny look. My playful Crushed Curry Polka Dot ribbon finishes it off. Easy, right? Love simple. Leave me a comment and let me know what ya think, I'd love to know :) Have a wonderful weekend! Hope ya have some time for Stampin'

Here for You 24-7

Inspired by the Mojo Monday card sketch, my card took shape. With a Rich Razzleberry card base of 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 scored at the top, I added my floral image inked with my Rich Razzleberry Marker and Old Olive marker directly onto the stamp, moistened with a huff of breath and stamped on Whisper White. Matted with Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive- love this color combo, with a small piece of Cottage Wall DSP peeking out from underneath. Added 'Here for You' onto the DSP inked in Rich Razzleberry. An Eyelet Border punched piece of Orchid Opulence with a Rich Razzleberry Polka dot Ribbon to hide my seam, form my horizontal strip. '24-7' was inked in Old Olive and stamped onto Old Olive. An oval piece of Silver Hodgepodge Hardware 'highlights' my sentiment. Adhered my hardware with Crystal Effects and added some small non-SU clear rhinestones at each end.

Love Bugs and a New Deal of the Week

It's week #3 and the Deal of the Week is Square Fire Rhinestone Brads, $6.99 (reg $10.95). Item #109112, pg 179 of the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog.
If you gotta have 'em, this is the time to get 'em while the gettin's good :)

After weeks of rainy weather, the kids and I have been enjoying our days at my parents pool, day trips to the beach, playing outside, etc not as much time to get kreative like when I am house bound in the winter (brrrrrr).
Quick card, quick post (and off to the pool :) - Here's a clean and simple card, using the Love Bugs Hostess Lev 1 set. I needed an anniversary card and couldn't wait to ink up my love bugs. Using VersaMark, I stamped my bugs across the page then sprinkled on some Black Embossing Powder and heated it up. The bottom half of the card was placed on my sm polka dot Texturz Plate and run through the Big Shot. Colored in my bugs with Real Red, Summer Sun and Basic Black Markers. Used my 2 way glue pen to add some Dazzling Diamonds to my bees wings and lady bug dots. Matted my Whisper White onto Basic Black and a standard Real Red card base scored at the top. Using the Word Window Punch, I popped out my window. Used my Real Red and Basic Black Markers to 'color' directly on my stamp - a little huff to remoisten and stamped on Whisper White. Again used the Word Window to pop this out, added some Real Red dashes around the outer edge and then adhered it on the inside of my Real Red card base - so the sentiment peeks through on the card front. Added Black Gingham ribbon and a luscious Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon simply tied in a knot and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot, to finish off my card.

If you'd like to host a workshop so you could earn this adorable set and other rewards, contact me and we'll 'chat' about an in house parrrrrty or a catalog party. Lets Party!!

Friends 24-7

I started this card with the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 236 and decided I wanted to ink up my new set Friends 24-7. I'd been eying this set since it first came out and I'm so glad it stuck around in the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog. This card came together pretty quickly and I really like the old vintage feel it has.
My 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 Brocade Blue card base is given a vintage feel using a Dauber and the new In Color Soft Suede around the edges of the card.
The bird image was inked using Daubers and Craft inks: Brocade Blue, Choc Chip and Garden Green and stamped onto Very Vanilla. Sprinkled on some Clear Embossing Powder and with my Heat Tool gave it the shiny raised embossed look. TIP: Craft Ink or VersaMark must be used with Embossing Powder. Ripped and slightly distressed the top and bottom of this panel and again used my Dauber with Soft Suede Ink. Hint: Very inexpensive tool, your finger nail will do a great job distressing - can't promise you won't need a manicure after though :) Just kidding, my nail is just fine!
I inked my floral/fluerish/any suggestions what to call it?, image in Soft Suede on Soft Suede. And guess what, I tore the edges and again daubbed Soft Suede. FYI: Daubers are a great little tool to have on hand and 12 come in a pack - and the are reusable. I clean mine with a very little soap and water, let them dry and they are ready for the next time. They do get stained, but with 12 in a pack you can reuse the dark stained with dark colors, light with the light. Love them!!
Layered my bird and floral image over a torn and distressed piece of Kraft cardstock with some additional Soft Suede ink lightly daubbed. TIP: When using my Daubers to add 'depth' to my cardstock, beside inking the edges, I apply the ink in light circular motions.
I finally inked my sentiment in... Soft Suede. I'd love you to leave a comment and let me know what ya think of my vintagey card :)

The Joy of a Sunset

My brayer finally met ink. I've had my brayer tucked away in a drawer for sometime and have always been intimidated to try a sunset. With this weeks Mojo 94 challenge, I decided to give it the 'ol college try. A bit unbalanced, I probably should have had the sun up in the left corner due to the nature of the sketch with the circle element in the bottom right, but I went with it anyway. My card base is the new In Color Dusty Durango and the vertical panel is also an In Color, Soft Suede. My sunset panel was brayed (?) first with So Saffron onto Whisper White. Then I punched out a 1" Circle from a sticky note to kreate a sun. I brayed over the So Saffron and sticky note circle with the new In Colors Crushed Curry and then again with Dusty Durango. Peeled off my sticky note circle to reveal my sun. Sponged a little extra Dusty Durango across the bottom. Inked up my grass from Inspired by Nature in Soft Suede and stamped the tips of the grasses onto my sunset panel. The new Autumn Days set has the prettiest 'grained' grass which I also added in Soft Suede. Highlighted a few blades with my White Gel Signo Pen and layered onto Choc Chip. I isolated the word Joy from a stamp in the All Holidays set with Dusty Durango, then popped it out with a 1" Circle Punch and layered onto 1-1/4" Choc Chip Punched Circle. I kept the card fairly simple as I wanted the focus to be on my sunset. I'm so glad I gave this technique a try and I will continue to practice to get better. Beside the unbalanced look, I'm pretty happy with how the image turned out. Hope you like it! Any questions, feel free to contact me

I Love a Parade...

And so do my Pun Fun Friends :) Happy July 4th!
As you can see, I do love my markers - see yesterdays post for more info on SU Markers. My images were inked in Black Stazon onto Whisper White and each of my 'Fun' friends were colored in solely with my SU Markers. Tip: I masked off the words on the bottom of each image with a sticky note. Bordering Blue for my hippo, Yo Yo Yellow and Apricot Appeal for my bird, Blush Blossom and a Pretty in Pink outline for my lamb, Pumpkin Pie for my cat, and Going Gray for my skunk. I matted my Whisper White layer over 4 Real Red punch Photo Corners onto my Night of Navy card base. The fine tips of the Real Read and Brilliant Blue helped me freehand my flags. The broad tips of Real Red and Brilliant Blue helped me transform my Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon into my customized color to kreate my bows. Pretty cool right! HINT: After coloring in your ribbon you will need to wait a bit until it completely dries to avoid any mishaps on your card. My Snow Swirled snowflake, Versamark ink and some Iridescent Ice Embossing powder help kreate my shimmery display of fireworks.
