Not quite what I had in mind!

Here I am ;) Did ya miss me? ;) Summer brings new schedules, routines, to-dos, and lots of time with my kiddos, so I haven't been blogging or stamping as much. I know, {gasp}, but I am enjoying the summer to the fullest, it always ends way too soon for me! All sorts of new goodies from the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog, will be coming my way shortly, so I'm sure I will be more than eager to play a bit and of course share :)

Jeesh, it hasn't been that long, but already I am a bit rusty. Don't ya hate when that happens?? I'll share my 'rust' with you anyway, is that ok? The colors were definitely a bit of a challenge for me, so can I blame my rust on my 'failed' color challenge?! 'Nough complaining... PPA50 challenge today is So Saffron, Choc Chip and Basic Gray.
I chose the very versatile set Elements of Style - such beautiful images and really, I think you can do any occasion with it!
*The Circle Scissors Plus is the perfect must have tool for making circles. I love this tool!!! Cut out circle from Watercolor Paper (approx 3" diam)
*Inked up the floral image in Choc Chip ink and stamped on Watercolor Paper. Using my Aquapainter, I lightly went over some of the choc chip to blend into the flower and stems - left it to dry a bit
*On my standard So Saffron card base, I stamped the flourish image in Choc Chip and highlighted with my White Signo Gel Pen. Distressed the edges of the card with more Choc Chip ink using my dauber
*Sentiment was inked in Basic Gray between flourishes
*Bird image was inked in Basic Gray and stamped off once to get a softer/lighter image. Snipped out my bird with precision using my paper snips. Daubbed the edge of my bird with more choc chip ink
*Returned to my floral image and 'painted' my yellow roses with So Saffron reinker. TIP: kreate depth and division of florals with darker and lighter flowers. Use a dryer brush for a darker pigment. When completely dry, go back in with your coordinating marker to highlight/darken an area.
* Added a little Vanilla Smooch Spritz to the floral image and placed on dimensionals.

Hmmm, what went wrong? Looked so much better in my head. LOL Can't win 'em all!

MOJO feelin' Spring-y

Its time to Play at the PPA and SPRING is in the air!! With the Northeast still blanketed over a foot (or for some 2-3) of melting snow, I am SO ready for spring!! I decided to combine this SPRING challenge with the recent Mojo Monday sketch. My focal point, the little bird and tulips, is from a great set called A Flower for All Seasons AND it could be yours FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50+ order!!! * Inked up this adorable image, from A Flower for All Seasons, in Jet Black Stazon onto Watercolor Paper

* Using my Blender Pens and various inks (Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Old Olive, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa) as my palette, I colored it in. TIP: Squeeze your SU ink pad together and upon opening it, you will have a little pooling of ink to dip your pen or aquapainter into.

* Punched it out with my 1-3/8" Circle Punch

* Kreated a matte of Regal Rose and another of Pretty in Pink to put behind it using my Circle Scissor Plus to make perfect layers. Popped up the image on the layers with dimensionals.

* Certainly Celery is my cardbase with this soft plaid layer from Pawsitively Prints DSP (118060) - this was from the previous Holiday Mini, but IS still available to order!!

* My horizontal strip of Certainly Celery was given a decorative edge with the NEW Scallop Trim Border (available in the Sale-a-bration brochure with a $50+ order)

* Used the new Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon to run through the middle of the strip

* Sentiment taken from A Kind Word was inked with Regal Rose Marker in order to isolate words to stamp onto separate Pretty in Pink panels.

* Non SU adhesive backed pearls were placed on the corners of my sentiment as well as adding a little detail to the end of my Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink Ribbon strip.

Are ya feelin' SPRING??? I know I'm ready :)

Good Cheer Mojo

Where does one's week go???? Started my Mondays Mojo104 on Monday and what happened from there...life! Can anyone else relate? But here it is, better late than never.
I have enjoyed using my Circle Scissor Plus on this Santa-Reindeer image from the Good Cheer set, click here to see another card, so this was the perfect sketch to do it again.
* Standard card base of Real Red, distressed with a dauber and Soft Suede ink
* Image inked with Basic Brown with a dauber to avoid inking up sentiment(ink is waterproof - image won't bleed when using your Aquapainter). Any small amt of ink on the sentiment in Santa's whiskers was removed using a Blender Pen and scribbling ink off onto scratch paper until completely clean
* Stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock - I selected this paper instead of Watercolor paper because I wanted Santas beard to stay white (not the off white/vanilla of our Watercolor Paper) and this is a bit easier to watercolor/use blender pens on than Whisper White.
* Used my inks, Aquapainter and Blender Pens to color in my image. Then guess what...I added 'Ice' to his whiskers :) If you follow me, you know I love a touch of sparkle, my 'ice'. Click on photo to enlarge image - you may see the sparkle better!
* Using my VersaMark Pen, I 'colored' in his beard and sprinkled on my Iridescent 'Ice' Embossing Powder and with my Heat Tool set the sparkle ('melting' the powder through heat setting, insures that your recipient won't look like a glittered Diva after handling your card )
* Using my Circle Scissor Plus, I was able to cut out the perfect circle around my image - which such ease!! And with a slight adjustment of my dial, a perfect Old Olive circle to layer behind it. Each circle again distressed with Soft Suede ink
* Punched out an Old Olive Scallop Circle - again distressed with Soft Suede ink
* My horizontal strips were kreated with a piece of Soft Suede and holly leaves from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP in the Holiday Mini. When you view this paper, you will see it is holly leaves on white - well, white was too stark with this card, so out came the dauber again to distress the edges and lightly over the entire strip.
* The Choc Chip Brads finish off my Mojo!

For someone having a hard time saying good bye to summer, I've jumped full throttle into Christmas cards lately! LOL

Mojo 100 Baby

My girlfriend has baby number 4 on the way. WOW! I can't believe 4. Since she's like me and waits to be surprised by the gender, I decided to go baby neutral colors. I love to start a card with a sketch, so I went with Mojo 100. If you like sketches too, go check it out, all this week in celebration of the 100th sketch, there will be a new sketch every day.
I've seen these cute baby buggies pop up here and there, so I will not take credit for the idea, but I will take credit for kreating my own :)
*I used my Circle Scissor Plus to kreate my Whisper White circle and then cut out a pie shape.
*Ran it through my Big Shot with my sm polka dot Background Texturz Plate. Instead of raised dots, I flipped my image. Randomly in a few 'holes' I added some color with my Pastel chalks.
*Using my Eyelet Border Punch, I kreated my buggies eyelet ruffle.
*The Swirls Scribbles Sizzlit die was run through the Big Shot and a piece used to form the handle (cute right?)
*No small circle punch for my wheels :( - no problem, I traced the bottom of my Dauber for the perfect fit. Added my Flower Brad to become my wheel spokes. A black sharpie pen kreates the 'axel'. A little basic gray sponging highlights the edges of the wheel
*The buggy was placed on dimensionals on a Bashful Blue rectangle and a Certainly Celery Scallop using the Big Shot and Scallop #2 die
*The buggy layers were placed on a standard Whisper White card base 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 scored at the top and layered with So Saffron and the polka dots from Cottage Wall DSP
*Certainly Celery Grosgrain Ribbon hide the seam between my two papers.
*A central bow and a dangling Metal Edge Tag. Isolated the word 'baby' from the sentiment 'hello baby' in the Teeny Tiny Wishes set using my Bashful Blue Marker. Added a dash more using my Certainly Celery Marker around the inside of the metal edge. Isn't it a cute accent!?

Christmas in July?

I wasn't quite ready to make a Christmas card, BUT I've been wanting to play my new set. I had to have this new Good Cheer set, I just love this image of Santa and the deer. Do you remember my waterfall Christmas in July card last year? Click here to refresh your memory :) Do you see any resemblance? I love the none traditional colors of Christmas and Bermuda Bay has just taken place of Baja Breeze (never thought I could miss a color as much as I miss that one!!) But I'm loving this combo just as much!
I kreated this card with the Mojo Monday sketch as my inspiration.

* I used my Circle Scissors cutter (at 3cm) to cut out my Very Vanilla piece.
Then moved my dial to the very next tick mark and cut out my Choc Chip circle

* Inked up my image with a Dauber and Basic Brown ink (to isolate just Santa and the deer). Initially was planning to highlight my image with some colors, but ended up liking him as is.

* Ruby Red was run through my Big Shot with the Scallop #2 die

* The lower half of my Bermuda Bay standard card was run through the small polka dots Background Texturz Plate. The raised, embossed dots were 'scuffed' up lightly with a Sanding Block

* My snowflakes from the Christmas Punches Hostess lev 2 set were inked in Versamark and given a coating of Iridescent Ice and then set with my heat tool to given them their shimmer. So Cool - every image in this set has a coordinating punch. These snowflakes were popped out with the Boho Blossoms punch.

* My sentiment is from the Good Cheer set, using my Basic Brown dauber to isolate my words (the inside of the card has the rest of the sentiment) and stamped onto Very Vanilla

* A Ruby Red Photo Corner Punch and Boho Blossom punched out Bermuda Bay snowflake accent my corner.

* Used my dauber and Choc Chip ink along some edges.

Egg-stra Special

Isn't this little bunny cute? She is from a new line of stamps that Jennifer Meyer has designed. Every Thursday, she announces a new sketch design challenge, so I played along with the current sketch and her Egg-stra Special stamp set.
Since the sketch called for a circle, I couldn't wait to play with my new Circle Scissor Plus. It is now so quick and easy to make the perfect circles. (I used it for a few scrap pages too that I'll show you soon - I just love how easy it is!) Anyway, I stamped out my images in Basic Black onto Whisper White and used my blender pens and my Aquapainter to color. TIP: You want to be careful when blending colors or using your Aquapainter on cardstock, as too much water or blending with start to curl and/or pill your paper - it's best to use the heavier weight Watercolor paper (105019), makes things much easier (next time I will heed my own advice - LOL). The final touch was a piece of Organza Ribbon and matching bow.
