Beautiful Vellum Butterflies

Thank you so much for all your sweet comments about my daughters recital. I'm going to do my best to show you her dance, I just need to figure out the techie stuff- yikes!!!

After tinkering with a card that I just couldn't seem to get right tonight, I pushed it aside to run with an idea. I had a bunch of vellum cardstock butterflies sitting on my desk and I had to 'redeem' myself from a failed card attempt ;). This came together so quickly and I hope you like it. Man, hours on this other card that I think will soon see the trash, and this took like 15minutes!! Anywho...

* Standard cardbase of Crumb Cake, formerly Kraft
* 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 piece of vellum run through the Big Shot and the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder - in itself is gorgeous, don't ya think?
* Dainty and beautiful vellum butterflies come from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit
* Two Glue Dots in the top corners hold the embossed vellum piece onto the Crumb Cake base
* A little Vanilla Smooch and this card has the perfect subtle shimmer (you'll have to trust me on this one ;)
* Delicate White Organza Ribbon tied in a pretty bow is the perfect soft embellishment for this card
* 'Birthday Wishes' was inked in White Stazon. I just love the delicate font in the sentiments from Watercolor Trio, in the Summer Mini.
* Vellum butterflies flutter across this card and land on a glue dot to stay put.

I hope you like my 'redemption' card! I couldn't leave my space frustrated with a failed card ;) I have a feeling many of you know what I'm talking about! Let me know what ya think - I love to read your thoughts :)

Any questions about any of my kreations, I am only a click away :) Thanks for taking a moment to stop by to get a little dose of me :)

My Broadway Baby

This is what my weekend is all about! This is my oldest, my little tap dancer. Isn't she so cute?! Rehearsal was today and she did AWESOME. Tomorrow is the big day and she couldn't be more excited to perform for her family(honestly I don't know how she does it - I was a gymnast and hated competition day - couldn't stand all eyes on me! But she is so confident and proud of herself - its so great!) I may just need to figure out how to put a video on here for you to watch too - hehe!! Yes, proud mommy!! Gotta run.

First Day for the Last Day

Thank you Pals Paper Arts for picking my Hula Bear card as one of the winning 'Summer theme' picks! I'm so honored! Its Thursday again, so its time for another PPA challenge. Margaret Moody brings us a fantastic sketch to jumpstart our kreations.
Friday marks the end of pre-school for my daughter, so this sketch was timely for me to whip up something teacher-ish with the very fitting set, First Day, from the Summer Mini.

I used some brand new goodies that you'll be seeing very soon with the July 1st release of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog: Scallop Rectangle Clearlit, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, Marina Mist Cardstock.

* Real Red cardbase was run through my go-to Embossing Folder, Square Lattice, from the Summer Mini
* The tiny alphabet image was inked in Stazon Black across a strip of Daffodil Delight
* The 4 apples image inked in Stazon Black was also stamped across a stip of Whisper White. The apples were then colored in with SU Markers Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Old Olive, Real Red and highlighted with my White Signo Pen
* The numbers image follow suit across a Marina Mist strip. Followed by some faux stitching with my White Signo Pen
* Ran Whisper White through the Big Shot with soon to be released Scallop Rectangle Clearlit. NOW, what is so cool about this, I could have inked up my bookworm first and then positioned the clearlit where I wanted to cut him out. Of course I did it the hard way though LOL {Really, with the new clear mount option, the positioning was actually quite easy}
* Inked up my bookworm in Stazon Black and stamped onto my Scallop Rectangle. Using a blender pen, Old Olive ink, Marina Mist ink, Daffodil Delight ink and Real Red ink, I colored in my bookworm.
* Added some Crystal Effects to his glasses as his finishing touch
* 4 Old Olive punched Scallop Squares kreate the perfect matte for my little friend!

Hope you enjoyed my kreation. Need to get those juices flowin'? Try starting out with Margarets sketch and see where it takes ya - Then, don't forget to upload your kreation to the PPA.

Cocktail Anyone?

This was one of the cards we recently did at one of my classes - we were having a 'retirement' party, luau style, and having fun with the new Tropical Party set in the Summer Mini. I've seen a few of these out in blogland, but don't know who to credit for the original idea, but I was inspired by the coconut from the Tropical Party set!

* First I kreated a template for my 'cracked' coconut - much like the shape of simple tulip
* Traced that onto a standard cardbase of Creamy Caramel and snipped out.
* Using Close to Cocoa ink, I swiped the pad across one side of the Square Lattice Embossing Folder - I am really diggin' this folder :) Don't worry, simply run under water to completely clean your folder after you are finished
* Placed the cardfront onto the inked folder and rolled through the Big Shot - adds great texture and more 'definition' with the added ink
* Every tropical drink needs an umbrella, right? Kreate with a square piece of DSP (3-1/2x3-1/2)and accordian fold. Once in accordian, fold in half, stick together with a glue dot and then fan open. SO cute!! Add a toothpick with a glue dot to the back of a fold. Add the umbrella with a glue dot to the coconut. (could also cut a straw and adhere it too!)

* Added a piece of Whisper White to the inside of the card and traced the template approx 1/2" above the jagged coconut edges. Sentiment, from Heard from the Heart, stamped in Choc Chip and then adhered white piece over umbrella toothpick for a more 'finished look
* Snipped out some 'grass' and a floral from the Tropical Party set and punched out a Passion Pink 5 Petal flower - layered them with a Circle Fire Rhinestone and placed on a dimensional on the front of the card.

ahhhhh, anyone else wanting to kick up your feet oceanside with one of these ?! I'm totally ready for a luau :) I know SHE is :) I am just having so much fun with this set. hehe

Time is running out!! Available until June 30th or while supplies last...

Happy Fathers Day

I'm out of town for the weekend, but I wanted to make sure I wished all you dad's out there a very Happy Fathers Day!! Kick back, relax and enjoy yourselves!! Wait, isn't that what you always do?! LOL Oh stop, I'm just joshin' with ya!! Have a GREAT day!!

For those of you last minute Nellie's still in your stamping space, the card shown here is a quicky!! :) The main image from All Holiday was Clear Embossed over Choc Chip craft ink and then 'weathered' bit by crinkling and crushing and then distressing the edges for that rough look. Assemble the rest of your card and you should be done in about 15minutes!! Or click HERE for a few Fathers Day cards or HERE for a few more 'Masculine' type cards for inspiration. Sorry there are only a few, masculine cards are not my forte, but they may still inspire :)

You can purchase all products online with me or email me with your orders.

ALOHA!

Its another PPA challenge and SUMMER is the theme. With summer comes many a party and get togethers. I decided to kreate a summery 'tropical' fun card - luau style :)

* Standard card base of Whisper White is sponged and masked with Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Close to Cocoa. The sand was also 'flecked' using the Color Spritzer and Choc Chip Marker.
* Palm trees in the distance were kreated from the Tropical Party set and inked with Choc Chip and Garden Green markers.

My Hula Bear:
* I ran a piece of Creamy Caramel cardstock through the Big Shot and the very cute Bigz Bear die.
* Then Pink Passion and Gable Green were placed on the Beary Essentials clothes die, little skirt and shoes, and cranked through the Big Shot. With my Paper Snips, I kreated my grass skirt. Cute, right??
* Yo Yo Yellow, Taken with Teal, Gable Green and Pink Passion blossoms, from the Boho Blossom Punch, decorate the top of this adorable grass skirt (if I do say so myself!)
* The bandeau swimtop was kreated from Pink Passion with the wings from the Extra Large Bird Punch. Dazzling Diamonds makes her top super diva-ish :)
* Another Pink Passionn Boho Blossom is tucked behind her ear. She is ready to hula!
* A coconut cocktail, from the Tropical Party set, in paw and she is ready for the summer festivities!!

MAHALO!! So glad you stopped in to check out my kreation. If you have any questions, I am just a click away!!

Simple Style

This was the simplest card I have made in a long time!! I hope you think it is worth the share :) I had to make a couple quick thank you's and I turned to the new Elements of Style,
in the Summer Mini, for the beautiful floral spray. My first one, which I didn't photo, I did this same way but using my Aquapainter decided to color in. Yup it was pretty, but I just liked the look and simplicity of it just the way it is. And boy was it ever easy to reproduce a couple of these :) Don't think this photo does the embossing justice, so you'll just have to kreate one yourself!!;) Here's how...

* Ran a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock through the Big Shot and Scallop Square Die
* Inked up my image from Elements of Style in VersaMark and sprinkled on some Gold Embossing Powder. Using my Heat Tool, melted the gold to a rich beautiful embossed image.
* My go to set for thank you sentiments, Thank You Kindly, also got inked in VersaMark with the same Gold Embossed as above.
* And why not add that pretty bird? Inked in VersaMark, stamped on scrap Very Vanilla and given the gold embossed treatment. For a precise cut I turn to my Paper Snips, cut out and then placed on a dimensional.

Thats IT!! Can you believe it? And if you are not partial to this simple look, at this point it is very easy to 'color' in with whatever you want, Blenders, Aquapainter, chalks, markers...

Have a class tonight, off to finish my preparations! If you live near the Bergen County NJ area and would like to join us, we'd love to have you!!

Drumroll please.....

Thank you all for hopping along with the Pals. I'm sure you had some great inspiration on your journey! I appreciate all your nice comments about my kreations and it was such fun to read your thoughts if you preferred SU Clear Mount or Wood Mount stamps. I'd have to say, although not definitive, that it was about equal. Both are great and it really will come down to personal preference!!
I'm going to give you my 2 cents on one 'negative' I read a few times - 'the stamp not sticking to the acrylic'... a little hint... try the 5 sec rule - press your stamp to your acrylic block for a few seconds and you'll likely have a much better cling (I am even able to scrub them clean on my scrub pad)!! If you are still having a problem, make sure there is no residue on your stamp or acrylic block. With that resolved you'll love the quality that we can count on with SU products!!
Ok, ok, enough babble... without further ado the winner of my blog candy is.......

Lisa said...
I have both but I tend to favor the wood mount still. I love using the stampmajig and you know you will getting an exact stamp where you want it.Thanks for the goodies to win. Crossing my fingers.

Congratulations Lisa!!! You'll have 48 hours to contact me with your address so I can get your goodies to you in the mail!!!

Double Pouch Card Holder Tutorial

I told you'd I'd be back with details :) The double pouch card holders were kreated with a 12x12 piece of retiring Kaleidoscope DSP (not sure who originated this idea). Hope this step by step picture tutorial helps you kreate your pouch!

After the pouch is complete, I added a Horizontal Slot punch to the top to thread my Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon through. Embellished the ribbon as well as the pouch with some Pixie Pink butterflies run through the Big Shot and Beautiful WIngs Embosslit (still available to you!!)

Using the Poppin Pastels technique, each card was kreated with Watercolor Trio, from the Sumer Mini, onto Whipser White cardstock
* Inked up the flowers and butterfly with VersaMark
* Using my pastels (chalks) I colored in my images with retiring colors: Summer Sun, Only Orange, Pixie Pink, and Green Galore - such a soft and pretty look!!
* Sentiments from Watercolor Trio were inked in Pixie Pink
* A final smooch, with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, was lightly misted onto each card for a gorgeous shimmer.

Envies were also stamped and colored with pastels. The flap of each envelope decorated with a coordinating piece of Kaleidoscope paper. Now both cards and envies can be placed in the pouches of your holder for a really cute gift or organizer for cards you need this month.

Any questions, I'm just a click away!!

June tends to be a busy month, doesn't it? For me, my oldest has a birthday (today in fact), my twin nieces have a birthday too and then there are the dads and sometimes even some grads :) So here are a few kreations with them all in mind using our Fond Farewell Colors.

Along with our Fond Farewell Colors, we'll also be bidding a farewell to many Designer Papers too. One of my favorites, this year, has been the Cottage Wall paper. This Double Gate Fold card uses Orchid Opulence and Pale Plum coordinating with the Cottage Wall paper and this soon to be retired set, A Kind Word. Having two little girls of my own and a lined image stamp that I could color/watercolor, this was a must have for me!
Added a little Vanilla Smooch to the DSP to give it a subtle shimmer that I know will get that gasp of 'oh so pretty, mommy' from my daughter. And of course a few fluttering butterflies, from Beautiful Wings Embosslit (still available to order), in Pale Plum, Orchid Opulence and Apricot Appeal. Who doesn't love a butterfly? Happy 6th Birthday Kayla!!!

For the dads... this is another vest card, using Amy Celona's wonderful template, making this one even more schnazzy :)
* Vest kreated with Creamy Caramel. Swiped my Close to Cocoa ink pad over one side of the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and ran it through the Big Shot. Makes the vest look like a 'tweed' type of fabric - so cool, right?
* Choc Chip Corduroy buttons and a nifty Crushed Curry polka dot hanky (crushed curry ribbon) tucked into a Tag punched pocket make this a very handsome vest :)
* My 'chambray' pin striped shirt was kreated with Brocade Blue cardstock, a ruler and my Signo White Gel Pen
* A Crushed Curry tie and clear rhinestone 'tie-tack' finish off the ensemble

For the grads...gift cards and money seem to be the easiest. But its all in the presentation. How about this grad cap gift card holder?? Follow this template to get the wow before they even reach the gift!!!

* A Going Gray cap with edges distressed in Basic Gray to give it some dimension
* A momentus year capped off in Go Go Boots numbers run through the Big Shot with Crushed Curry
* Make your tassle of ribbon, twine, hemp, or cording and place it around a brad.
* Simple inside, (really could have used the Happy Grad stamp in the new Summer MIni (only $8.95!)) reveals a message inked in VersaMark and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and of course a place to tuck your gift!

I hope you enjoyed your stop and were inspired by my kreations. NOW...

BLOG CANDY time.
For your chance to win all the above goodies, please leave me a comment along with an answer to the following question at the end of this post by 3:00 PM CST, Friday, June 11th, at which time I'll choose a random winner. Shipping to US only. Do you prefer Stampin' Up!'s wood mount stamps or do you prefer clear mount?
I'm lovin' the clear mount option for so many reasons, easier storage, versatility (placing/stamping with more than one image on a block), seeing exactly where you are stamping,... now, let me hear your thoughts!

Here's what the winner will receive:
* NEW package of Soft Subtles cardstock
* 40 piece assortment of brads, grommets and buttons
* 2 yards of current in-color polka dot grosgrain ribbon (reversible!)

I'll announce the winner of my blog candy package here on my blog on Sunday, June 13th, 2010. The winner will have 48 hours to contact me after their name is announced.

More inspiring ideas and another great blog candy package awaits you over at Stampin-Style with Mike Funke, stop number 9 on the "Fond Farewell" PALS HOP! Hop over and see Mike's wonderfully creative ideas! Thanks for "hopping" by!

Any questions on any of my kreations or techniques, please feel free to contact me anytime.
