A Sweet Girl

My 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 Bermuda Bay card base takes a run through the Big Shot with a Backgrounds Texturz Plate. Used a sanding block to 'scuff' up the resulting embossed image, to give it a 'stronger' appearance. Inked up this adorable girl, from A Kind Word,in Basic Brown. HINT: I omitted the kitty simply by removing the ink from the stamp with my Blender Pen and continually scribbling it off until no sign of ink was left on my Blender or my image. Gave it a slight 'huff' of breath to remoisten and set the stamp on Watercolor Paper.
With a slightly damp Aquapainter, I dipped my bristles into a small pool of ink and colored in my little girl. TIP: A small pool of ink can easily be kreated by simply squeezing your closed SU ink pad together and when opened, the lid will have a pool of ink to work with. I layered Crushed Curry Photo Corners on Melon Mambo and placed my image on top with dimensionals. Slid a Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon under my image and around the card and finished with a small bow. Inked my sentiment from Crazy for Cupcakes in Melon Mambo onto Crushed Curry and popped it out with the Large Oval Punch and then layered on a Melon Mambo Scallop Oval.

I just love these rich fun new In Colors. And tomorrow you'll be able to order them from the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog 2009-2010. Scrumptious

Out of town guests, my daughters dress rehearsal this AM, my twin nieces b-day party this afternoon, and the big recital tomorrow - phew, what a weekend! But I wanted to quick share this card that I kreated using this weeks SCS Sketch 234. My card was kreated using a lot of Last Chance Accessories. Don't forget, you only have until Tuesday June 30th to stock up on any of your favorites. Kreated with Last Chance In Colors, Pink Pirouette starts my 4-1/4x5-1/2 base. Bella Rose DSP kreates a little whimsy with those big polka dots and the reverse side, a softer pink pirouette pattern, is added to the vertical elements of the sketch. Stamped my scrumptious cupcakes from the Crazy for Cupcakes set in Basic Brown onto Whisper White and used my Blender Pens to color them in with Pretty in Pink and Riding Hood Red. Squeeze your SU ink pad together and you will kreate a little pool of ink in the lid when opened. Dab your Blender Pen to pick up a little ink and begin to 'color'. Hint: I always start at the edges where I want the most concentrated color to appear and then the Blender Pen will gradually fade out - gives the images a 'natural' shadowing and watercolored appearance. Scribble off excess ink on your blender onto scrap and you are ready to pick up your next color. I used my 2-way glue pen and some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to that oh so yummy frosting. Punched out two Riding Hood Red Scallop Squares and adhered them to opposing corners of my image and popped it up on dimensionals.

A Razzleberry Flight

Loving the new In Colors and Rich Razzleberry really gives you a taste of pure elegance. Currently my favorite. Don't hold me to it over the course of the year - I do really love them all!
I needed a quick thank you card for my daughters dance teacher. Her last practice is today before her recital Sunday - I can't wait to share some pictures with you. Ok, the card...
* Started with a Whisper White card base of 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
* Rich Razzleberry provides an elegant matte under another piece of Whisper White
* My butterflies from Flight of the Butterfly set were inked in Rich Razzleberry. This set allows for 2-step stampin - the outline was stamped first and then I eyeballed the polka dots and stamped them within the outline. TIP: If you want precise with your placement you will want to use the ultimate precision tool, the Stamp-a-mi-jig - you'll get perfect placement every time!
* You may notice that there are shades of Rich Razzleberry and this was done by not reinking my image before each stamping.
* Dazzling Diamonds outlines my main butterfly and each polka dot of the little butterflies. Easy to apply with just a touch of my 2-way glue pen. (unfortunately I haven't found a way to capture that sparkle with my photos - but very pretty in real life) CLick photo to enlarge and you may see a bit more dazzle
* A few small non SU rhinestones form a flight path with pizazz.
* The lower right corner is given a little extra detail with my Corner Rounder
* And finally that fabulous Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon finishes it off (FYI: each In Color will have its own polka dot ribbon :) Bonus: The ribbon is reversible - plain grosgrain on the other side - cool right?!)

My virtual Pal Kris from Kween Bee Kreations is doing an awesome 'Parade of Colors' highlighting all the new In
Colors and my monochromatic card was inspired by her parade of cards. Thanks Kris

In Color Mojo

I'm loving the gorgeous new In Colors. They will be available to order with the release of the new catalog July 1. My card today highlights them all from the Bermuda Bay soft outline, to my Soft Suede wheel barrel, to my Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry flowers down to their Dusty Durango pots. And the most exciting part, all these colors now come in markers too. Easy enough to color your stamped image with your color of choice and get more than one color on your image. The little flower from this soon to be Last Chance stamp set, Blooming with Love, was colored with In Color Markers and Old Olive for the stem and then stamped. I did a lot of masking on my focal point to give a feeling of depth with my pots and flowers. Masking is just a technique of covering up a section to make it appear as though something is in front or behind an image. HINT: Stamping your image onto a sticky note (makes it self adhesive) and snipping it out is the perfect little masking template. For this card I had a wheel barrel mask, a pot mask and even snipped out that little flower.
Here is an example of masking -

Mojo Monday inspired my card layout. After my images were masked and stamped in Basic Brown, I went back and 'colored' in my images using my Blender Pens (gives it a watercolored appearance). Each of my In Color ink pads were squeezed a little to kreate a pool of ink in the lid when opened. Dab your blender pen in the ink and start to color. TIP: When using blender pens, you don't want to continue to go over an area as you will saturate the paper and begin to pill it. Start at your edge/s where you will want it the darkest and let the blender fade to light before you ink it back up. It does take practice with these, but you will love them once you get the hang of it.
Followed the Mojo layout, my image placed on a Scallop Edge Punched Crushed Curry matte onto my Melon Mambo and Dusty Durango card base. Melon Mambo and Dusty Durango were given the ol' fashion embossed look using my Priceless Brass Template, light box and Stylus. A Sanding Block lightly buffed over the embossed image helps it stand out a touch more. Any questions, I'm here for answers :)

Happy Fathers Day

Simple, quick, no frills Fathers Day card, inspired by a few design elements of the Mojo Monday sketch. My Happy Fathers Day stamp comes from the very versatile holiday sentiment set, All Holidays. Ladies, enjoy your hubbies, your fathers and grandfathers this weekend and Fathers, have a wonderful day :)
* Card starts as a Choc Chip 4-1/4"x5-1/2" base. Layered with a piece of To the Nines Specialty paper (my go to paper for all my masculine cards lately)
* I inked my stamp in Choc Chip Craft ink and stamped onto Kraft cardstock. Sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. I love embossing as it really makes your sentiment/image pop. A subtle WOW with little effort. Sprinkle and heat. TIP: You must use VersaMark or Craft ink so your embossing powder will stick to your stamped image. TRICK: If you own a Stamp-a-mi-jig (101049), go ahead and stamp with your Classic Ink, line up your 'mi-jig' and stamp image again with VersaMark - you've just kreated the same effect as a craft ink.
* Matted on Sage Shadow and used my Corner Rounder on opposing corners. Added 3 Choc Chip brads from the Neutrals Assortment Brads for some design interest.
* Placed a Choc Chip vertical piece behind the focal point and again Corner Rounded opposing corners
* 5/8" Choc Chip Grosgrain runs across the bottom and kreates 'tails' under a Choc Chip Corduroy Button Brad.

One of a Kind

Does something look different? Are you looking at these gorgeous colors thinking you haven't seen them before? Well you will be seeing them shortly (July 1st marks the release of the new SU Idea Book & Catalog - you'll love it!!) and I'm sure the new In-Colors will be on your must have list. I started this card with a Clean and Simple sketch from Splitcoast. Add a little here a bit there, I think I now have a 'Dirty' card. LOL, but its all about inspiration! Not sure I love it (may try it again in the AM), but I had fun playing with my new colors ... I had to use 2 of the new In-Colors Rich Razzleberry and Crushed Curry (oooooo, ahhhhh - aren't they purdy!) I inked up my sentiment from One of a Kind in Rich Razzleberry and then my Tart N Tangy cherries in Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Marker for the stems and randomly stamped them on Whisper White around my sentiment. Have you ever had a Rainier Cherry? They are yellow (perfect, Crushed Curry) with a hint of 'pinkish' color and are totally scrumptious - like eating candy!! So I inked up my one of a kind cherry in Crushed Curry and rolled the edges in Rich Razzleberry and stamped on Whisper White and added some Crystal Effects to give them some dimension. Popped it out with a 1-1/4" Circle Punch and layered on Rich Razzleberry 1-3/8" Circle and a Crushed Curry Scallop Circle. Placed a Crushed Curry matte behind my cherries and adhered to my 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" Rich Razzleberry card base. A Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon makes a small debut behind my Scallop Circle. Isn't it cute (if you love polka dots like I do you'll be seeing 'spots' on all the ribbon that matches the In Colors - shhhhh)
I have a few Fathers Day cards and teachers cards to finish up and then...
More sneak peeks to come :)

Wild about You, little one!

I've been dying to do this project for friends of ours and I finally got the chance when they announced their little BOY, Joseph John arrived. Hopefully she is way to busy that she won't be checking this post. Wild About You (# 115110) was just the perfect set I had in mind if it was a boy. This is one of those Last Chance Stamp sets, so if you're wild about it :) you better get it before June 30th - timing is running out for the Last Chance products. Make sure to check my right side bar under 'current promotions' for all your Last Chance Lists. Please forgive the photos, I had a hard time getting these pictures right and they look much more washed out than they do in person. (I'm thinking because of the bright white background? Anyway, you get the idea of the gift, and they really are so cute!!)
I bought a few different size white onesies, pre-washed and ironed them and was ready to stamp. Simply ink up your stamps using Craft Inks (pigment ink) and apply it to your onesie - your ink absorbs right into the fabric. Totally adorable!! TIP 1: StazOn inks will work too. Currently SU doesn't sell different colored StazOn, but most of your craft stores do. After stamping them all (a few minutes of drying time), I heat set them with the iron and they are ready for little Joey. TIP 2: You could stamp directly on T-shirt Transfer Paper ( you can pick up at an office supply store. They are made by Avery) using StazOn ink and apply to the onesie. There are a few pros to this method, but more cons in my mind. So personally, save some pennies and extra steps and stamp directly on your shirt :) (Just wanted to share the option though)
To finish off the gift, I stamped my Wild About You animals randomly all over my white tissue paper and packaged them in this cute little silver tin. Tied various ribbons on the handle. Then took my Onboard Chipboard Letter 'J' and inked it in Bashful Blue Craft Ink and sprinkled Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it. TIP: For what and how many times I use Craft ink, I can't justify the investment of all Craft ink pads, but slowly I'm adding the Craft Stampin Spots (comes in set of 12 in your color families) to my collection of supplies. Glue dots work perfectly to adhere my 'J' to my tin. Paired with this card here, its an adorable, functional, unique, handmade gift. I'm Wild about it :) Any questions, let me know.

Starting today, June 15th until August 31st (or while supplies last)

* Are you planning a summertime BBQ? If you said yes, you will definitely want to check out this decorative Cookout Kit that is sure to have your guests wowed by your attention to detail. Sure to be a memorable event! FUN :)

Rrrrrrreally Perfect!

Dad's Day is just 'round the corner and this card is going straight to my Dad, Rich. The 'R's just keep rolling off my tongue. King of the remote, recliner and refreshments :) Perfect! The inside reads 'Relax' - but isn't that what he's obviously already doing according to the 3 'R's?! LOL This stamp comes from the And Many Mower set in the Occasions Mini and the sketch comes from the OCC Challenge. My focal point is inked in Basic Black and stamped on Whisper White and then colored with my SU Markers, Always Artichoke,Creamy Caramel and Close to Cocoa. I used my VersaMarker to go over my Always Artichoke letters and then sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. I used my finger nail to rough up the edges a bit and then layered on Kraft and Choc Chip and popped it up on dimensionals. My panels were kreated with To the Nines Specialty paper and layered again on Choc Chip and placed on my 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Kraft base. A 5/8" Choc Chip Ribbon, a little flipped corner and some White Brads from the Neutrals Assortment adds a little extra flare to my masculine card.

You Mean Everything

Were did 5 years go? If I can answer~ It went by way too fast. I remember the day so clearly, amazed that she had finally come. 9 months seemed forever and now 5 years seems like yesterday. She will always be my baby though, no matter how old she is :) Right moms :)

I hear her already 'awwwww mom, this is just so beautiful' - she is my biggest fan, I love it! I seek her every approval :) I had to have this set A Kind Word specifically this image as both my girls love to soar to the clouds on their swings. I stamped her in Stazon ink on Whisper White and used my SU Markers to color her in. A soft dusting of my Pastels Chalk kreates a bluish background. I used an oval stencil to trace the image and cut her out and then accented the edges with Lovely Lilac ink. Used my Eyelet Border Punch on my Regal Rose square to decorate my edge and then randomly stamped the small flower from the Simply Sent set in VersaMark to kreate my own designer paper. My Big Shot helped me kreate my perfect flower accent using the Little Leaves Sizzlit and Simple Flower Embosslit. Half back pearls from the Pretties Kit add a soft girlie touch. You mean everything to us Kayla, Happy 5th Birthday!

2 Steppin'

Nope, not dancin, stampin'! Both sets I used for the Mojo Monday Sketch 89 (for me Mojo Friday :) are 2 Step Stampin' Sets, Flight of the Butterfly and Soft Summer from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Remember: you have your Last Chance Stamp List and Last Chance Accessories List, but don't forget June 30 marks your last chance to order from the Occasions Mini Catalog too!
If you're not familiar with two step stamping technique, you have a solid image and a lined image. There are different variations to the technique, but in this card I did the basic. You stamp your base (solid) image and then eyeball and place your overlay (lined) image. TIP: Use your Stamp a mi jig if you want perfect placement of your lined image. Personally I like it to be a little off, so I'm pretty good at eyeballing my placement.
I inked up my solid image from Soft Summer (Occasions Mini) in Baja Breeze and used my Close to Cocoa Marker to go over the branch. Inked up my lined image in Choc Chip Craft and stamped the overlay image. Sprinkled Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heat set with my heat tool to give it a little pizazz. (Unfortunately pizazz doesn't always show up in pictures, but if you click on the photo to enlarge it you may see it better) To soften the stark white of my Whisper White paper, I used my Chalk Pastels to 'highlight' around my image. Sponged the edges and placed on layers of Baja Breeze, Kraft, and Choc Chip.
My circles were cut out and easily layered using my Circle Scissors Plus. Loving that gizmo! The butterfly image was first stamped with the solid image in Baja Breeze and accented in Choc Chip Craft with the overlay flower image. Again given some pizazz with some Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. A Kraft Taffeta Ribbon hides the seam between my Parisian Breeze layer and Baja Breeze card base. I'm really going to miss my Baja Breeze and Parisian Paper :(
I envisioned this card a bit differently, I'll blame it on my MOJO, too many other things going on. My daughters b-day party is tomorrow, so off to finish the preparations :)

A little pixie dust and viola'

Well, it took much longer than expected at the hair salon for my new do, but I love that little extra feel good 'lift' you get with a fresh look :) I said I'd be back, just wasn't expecting it to be this late. These are the favors I am kreating for my daughters 5th birthday - TinkerBell themed. I picked up these lime paper sacks at Michaels (measured 4-5/8" x 2-7/8" x 8-5/8"). I cut the height of the bag approximately in half and decorated some faux stitching with my White Signo Gel Pen. I used Orchid Opulence Craft ink and the flower from God's Beauty hostess lev 1 and then sprinkled with Iridescent Ice Embossing powder (perfect glittery pixie dust for Tink). I took my Top Note Die and ran it through the Big Shot. Then I took my purple Top Note and ran it through the Big Shot again with the large dot Texturz Background Plate. Added some faux stitching again with my White Signo Pen and on the back used my Crop a dile to place to holes. Used some ribbon from my pre SU days and threaded it through the holes. Placed Sticky Strip to hold the ribbon down and also adhere to the back of my bag. Used my Scallop Circle punch to pop out my TinkerBell sticker and adhered half to my flap (so that you can open the bag).

My original 'purse' (below) was inspired by Becky Roberts purse here, but it just wasn't big enough. With a little altering its close enough. And I'm sure the kids will just be interested in the goodies inside anyway :) LOL And my daughter thought it was just beautiful (and immediately just wanted to take off the Tink sticker) - so thats all that counts!

Off to bed now! Nitey Nite :)

Onto the card... very simple design. Its for a gentleman my husband has known since he was a little boy. He just found out he has cancer and has been undergoing some harsh chemo, so this is to let him know he is in our thoughts and prayers.

To the Nines Specialty paper and Sage Shadow kreates a masculine feel. A little Kraft Taffeta ribbon tucked behind my main image, hides my 'seams'. My main image was inked in Choc Chip Craft ink and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. (TIP: you will need to use either Craft Ink or VersaMark as it is doesn't dry as fast as Classic Ink and its a bit stickier, so the embossing powder will stick to it before heating it up) TRICK , I don't have Sage Shadow Craft ink, BUT I was still able to emboss :) How? I inked up only my 'Thinking of you' words with VersaMark and then used my Sponge Dauber with Sage Shadow and dabbed that directly onto my stamp over the VersaMark. Sprinkled on my embossing powder, instant stick and heat embossed- perfecto :) Worked like a charm! Three Choc Chip brads from the 5/16" Neutrals Assortment finish off my kreation.
