Think Pink
The PPA14 challenge today is to 'Think Pink' in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Unfortunately we all know of someone effected by this terrible disease, so lets raise awareness together with a tribute to all those battling this disease and to all those that have beat it!
I was initially in pink baby mode as my girlfriend is due any day, but then decided to 'think pink' in Christmas mode. I have always loved the look of the soft pink and white poinsettias, it makes me think of a Victorian era. I had seen Andrea Walford kreate holly leaves from a Wide Oval punch and 1-1/4 Circle Punch. Not quite poinsettias, but a non traditional holly and Christmas colors... I thought it would be the perfect soft pink touch. I was in love with the idea in my head more than the outcome of my card. I'm sure I'm not the only one this happens to! Maybe it will grow on me?! or maybe I'll need to work on it :)
* Standard Whisper White card base with the edges sponged with Pretty in Pink. Tip: I use daubers on almost every card I make. They keep my fingers clean :) (hate to get an ink smudge on a finished card!), and they are the perfect little tool to add a little depth and dimension.
* Used a VersaMark Pen to line the edge of the card and heat set some Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.
* Popped out three Wide Ovals in Whisper White and applied some Champagne Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber. Using a 1-1/4" Circle Punch, I continued to kreate my holly leaves.
* Added some Pretty in Pink to the edges of my holly with ...yep, a Sponge Dauber. Then edged each holly leaf with some Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds.
* Each holly leaf was popped up on dimensionals and 3 pink Fire Circle Rhinestones kreate the 'berries'
* The Scribbles Swirls sizzlit and Old Olive took a run through my Big Shot. Added some Crystal Effects and more Dazzling Diamonds to match my holly.
* My sentiment, from All Holidays, was inked in Regal Rose Craft ink and set with some Iridescent Ice embossing powder.
* The corner accents come from the Pattern Pines Hostess Lev 1 set in the Holiday Mini. These were given the same treatment as my sentiment.
Think Pink and make sure to upload your kreation to the PPA. The design team has some pink Blog Candy waiting for you!!

Fun Little Treats
Not fancy schmancy, just a quick little gift idea (for any occasion really - just change up the filling and decor - check out my other sample below)... I took this cute little jar, filled with some candy corn, added some gorgeous SU 1-1/4" Striped Ribbon around the cap and embellished the cap front. Viola, instant cute little gift, right? By the way, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie are a perfect color match for candy corn :)
* My Circle Scissor Plus came in extremely handy to make just the perfect Crushed Curry circle to 'hide' my cap. This is a must have tool if you want easy, quick perfect circles
* Using my Scallop Circle Punch, I popped out a Pumpkin Pie Scallop Circle and with a dauber, sponged the edges in Pumpkin Pie. I'm never without my daubers - a little distressing of edges adds a lot of depth
* With the Batty for You set, I inked up my pumpkin image with my SU Markers. I love using my markers to isolate colors on my images. Basic Black makes the cute sentiment stand out around my Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive pumpkin.
* A few small google eyes adhered with Crystal Effects makes it a bit whimsical.
A simple gift idea, under 10 minutes to kreate. Recycle some of your jars and have fun making a cute little treat :) Hope this gives you some inspiration for any last minute Halloween goodies.
Supplies:
Stamps: Batty for You (116576)

Snail Mail :)
Phew, last week was a rough one, no fun being sick. Thanks for your well wishes for my kids and I and I appreciate your patience as I had nothing to share with you all week :( I didn't even have the energy to stamp, I was focused on my kids and getting some extra zzzz's. I don't have one of my kreations for you today, but I will show you some beautiful cards I've received that I had been meaning to share... don't you love snail mail :)
The first one is from one of my Pals Linda Callahan. Isn't it beautiful! Love the watercolored image and the color combos.
The second one was from a new friend I met at Fall Fest, Natalie Meyer.
She is so sweet. Don't you love this color combo, paired with the new Charming set in the Holiday Mini, such a pretty card!
The final week of October deals...make sure to check out this weeks new Deals of the Week (Monday 26, 10am (MT)- Oct 31, 11:50pm (MT))
Be back soon with some new kreations :) Happy Stamping~

Sponging and Masking Halloween Tutorial
Thanks for all your well wishes for my kiddos and I. They are on the mend while mommy is now in the thick of it, but this too shall pass :) The whining at least has ceased a bit :)
This tutorial can be followed for any type of 'scene' you'd like to kreate, just change out your colors and stamps/images. The sponging and masking technique were inspired by Michelle Zindorf after meeting her at Fall Fest a few months ago and kreating this card with her. At her request, she asked that we not give a tutorial on that card as it was an exclusive for her downline. But my friends, its not hard, so give it a try. I'll be doing more of these in the future (I'm thinking of another snow scene), so if you don't want to miss it, subscribe to my blog to receive an email every time I post a new kreation (No Spam, I promise!) Simply enter your email address in the subscribe box and watch for a separate activation email in your inbox.
OK, Get out some sponges and your inks and lets get started. See supplies list below TIP: You get 3 large Sponges per package, take 1 and divide into 4 pie shapes - gets you lots more sponges! This is my cutesy, spooky Halloween card, that I will walk you through. When sponging the colors of your sky, always use at least 2 colors one of a lighter hue. TIP: Make sure to let your lighter color show through and not cover it with your darker shades. Here we go...
Start with a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of Whisper White.
Using a sticky note, pop out a 1-3/4" Circle Punch for you moon. TIP: make sure to pop it out where there is 'sticky' on the back or apply a little Removable Dotto adhesive.
Next stamp your pumpkin from Autumn Harvest. To isolate colors, use markers directly onto your stamp. Dusty Durango pumpkin and Old Olive stem
Tear a piece of sticky note or scrap paper to mask off your grass (yellow paper is acting as a mask). On another piece of scrap/sticky note, stamp out your pumpkin to again use as a mask.
Begin to sponge, using light circular motions, your sky with Basic Gray
Leaving a slightly lighter area of gray to cast a yellowish glow from your moon toward your pumpkin. Sponge that area lightly with Crushed Curry
Now go back over your 'gray' sky with Basic Black to get a spookier look :)
Remove your masks. Lightly go over parts of your stark white moon with a little more Crushed Curry
Place your pumpkin mask back onto your pumpkin.
Sponge in your grass, first with Certainly Celery and then again with Old Olive. Kreate areas of darkness around the pumpkin, for a shadow, as well as the skyline. To do this, just continue to apply the Old Olive ink (add a little bit more pressure as you rub your sponge onto your paper) until you achieve the darkness that you want
Using your Basic Black Marker - freehand a tree and limb
Stamp your owl (over the moon, so you have the white to color in), from Forest Friends, onto the branch. I used Jet Black Stazon for a crisp black image
Add some 'whispy' clouds over your moon with your sponge and Basic Gray
Color in your owl - I used Creamy Caramel
Color in your pumpkin - I used Apricot Appeal for the lighter front area and Pumpkin Pie at the sides and then 'blended' them, by going over the whole pumpkin with Apricot Appeal again
Add your jack o lantern face with Jet Black Stazon ink.
What a difference a White Signo Gel Pen makes!!! Take your white pen and add highlights to your tree, owl, and pumpkin. Hint: If you have trouble getting this pen started, simply roll it onto the back of your hand, the oils in your skin help to get the ink flowing
Add your sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, again in Jet Black Stazon ink - I use this for a darker crisper black
Take an Old Olive Marker and add some grassy patches to your lawn
Freehand a few bats with your Basic Black Marker, highlighted with a few specks of White Gel Pen and you've done it!!!
Distress the edges of your card, mount it on Pumpkin Pie and then on a standard card base of Basic Black.
So what do you think? Easy enough to follow? Hope you enjoyed how I kreated this card. Stay tune for more soon - I love it :)

Feeling Green
This is pretty much how I look and feel after a sleepless night and a day with 2 kids that are feeling under the weather. Both my kids have come down with nasty colds. My littlest was up a bunch of times during the night cause she just couldn't breathe, hopefully tonight will be better. Poor things!
I'm hoping to ward it off, but its not looking good...see the picture! I'll be back very soon, just didn't have time to prepare my post - with a tutorial :)

On Comet, On Cupid, On DASHER!
Time to play at the Pals Paper Arts. Today is a sketch challenge, PPA12. As soon as I saw that circle, I knew I wanted to use the very popular single stamp, Dasher. He is just dashing, isn't he!! And for $8.95, what a deal!!! Tip: Make sure to check out the 'under $10' page in the Idea Book and Catalog (pg 208). Great for little gifts!
I had a piece of Shimmery White paper that had been run through my Big Shot with the Petals a Plenty Impressions folder, from the Holiday Mini, just waiting to be used. I thought it would be so pretty to add a little extra shimmer to this already lustery paper. A little shimmer paint, Dasher and a sketch...and away we go
* Standard Whisper White card base. Top corners rounded with a 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch
* 4 x 5-1/4 Shimmer White piece run through the Big Shot with the Petals-a-Plenty Impressions folder - then cut in half.
* Inked up a Dauber with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and daubbed it over my embossed flowers.
* Using my Circle Scissors Plus, I cut out my perfect 3" Circle. Tip: If you like drawing or cutting circles and layering circles, this is a must have tool!! So easy, I just love it!!
* Inked up dauber again with Champagne Mist and applied it directly to Dasher and stamped him onto my circle - Gorgeous!! (unfortunately you can't see the shimmer) A little more ink onto the dauber and applied to the edges of the circle.
* Using the already gorgeous Organza ribbon, I applied Champagne Mist with a dauber directly onto my ribbon. Shimmery and so pretty and a perfect match to my card! Tied a separate bow and with a glue dot placed it directly in the center.
This card is so much prettier in person and I'm sorry that I couldn't capture it with the photo, you're just gonna have to trust me :)

LET THE HOPPIN’ BEGIN!
Halloween isn't my favorite. I'm not into the spooky, eerie, gremliny, witchy side of the day, but I do enjoy the Fall. It is such a pretty time of the year, so my focus turns to leaves, pumpkins, scarecrows, hayrides, apple pies :) ... So, Autumn Harvest (110372) is the only 'halloweenish' type set that I own - that little jack-o'latern face quickly lends itself to a halloween pumpkin. So my non-halloween friends out there, see what you can do :) A little versatility in your sets goes a long way! I did pair it with another non-Halloween set, Forest Friends(113748) to kreate my 'spooky' scene. I needed my Booo hootin' Owl :) A free hand tree and bats accented with my White Signo Pen help (?) to spook it up a bit. Ok I tried anyway... does cutesy spooky work?
A coordinating tag, kreated using the Big Shot and the Two Tags Die(115954), is attached to my container with glue dots, for presentation, of a sweet little treat. After you eat this yummy treat, pop off this tag and use it as a bookmark for your thrilling novel :) Don't you just love this 1-1/4" Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain ribbon (115616), bedazzled with an Circle Fire Rhinestone Brad(109110). My sentiments for each project come from Teeny Tiny Wishes(115370)
Or snip out your 'spooky' little jack o'laterns and add them to a box to fill with some yummy treats. This 'crate' is kreated with the Big Shot and Box #2 Die (114518)( 2 of them adhered together with Sticky Strip), Night and Day Specialty Paper (116768) , the Word Window Punch and Large Oval Punch. And that fabulous Wide Striped Pumpkin Pie Ribbon again . Oh the possibilities are always endless with the Big Shot :)
Hop on back to my blog this week, I will be showing you tutorials: how I kreated my scene through sponging and masking; I'll also show you how easy it is to put this cute little 'crate' together.

Ho Ho Ho
I was ecstatic to know that Michelle Zindorf is a part of our regional group of SU Demo's and she was to teach us one of her fabulous techniques at Fall Fest a few weeks ago. All about the sponge and masking... isn't this so pretty (if I do say so myself). Not an easy card to photograph for some reason, it is much prettier in person... But yes, I did kreate it, from the step by step direction from Michelle. Its really not that difficult and if it were, who cares, look at the end result! Can't you just hear Santa jingling his sleigh bells with a deep belly 'Ho Ho Ho'?! Let me know what you think, love it when you do!
I will be participating in a fun Holiday Blog Hop. Mark your calendar, Oct 13th is the Halloween Hop. Stay tune... and make sure to hop on by

Delightfully Festive
This was a very simple card that I did at a workshop this past weekend. Simple, but really pretty with that festive shimmer!
* Standard card base of Ruby Red
* Whisper White was decorated with some Frost Shimmer Serene Snowflakes, both from the Holiday Mini. Simply shake up your shimmer paint and using a dauber which fits perfectly in the cap, ink up your dauber and apply it directly to your snowflakes and stamp them randomly onto your paper. Such a pretty and soft 'lustery' effect
* Ink up your Delightful Decorations ornament in Ruby Red and stamp onto a scrap piece of Whisper White
* Using your Ornament punch, pop out your ornament.
* Ink up your sentiment, from All Holidays, with Ruby Red Craft ink and heat emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.
* With a glue dot adhere a piece of Silver Cording to the back of your ornament. Tie up a separate bow and adhere that with a glue dot to the 'neck' of your ornament. Place some SNAIL along the top of your Whisper White and fold over your Silver Cording to adhere. Add some additional SNAIL and adhere to your card base.
Any questions, as always, I am a click away :) Happy Stamping

Ready for some Black Magic with a Twist?
I was busy preparing for a workshop on Saturday, but I'm back :) But how fun to be stamping the night away on World Card Making Day. Hope you had a chance to stamp your hearts out :) I will wait to show you what we did because I had promised to show you what we learned from the very talented Karen Barber at Fall Fest. This was her technique called Black Magic with a Twist. Stunning! The set we used for this card was Charming from the Holiday Mini. She designed this card as a Make and Take for us, so here is what I did (on her direction)
* Ovals were precut using the Big Shot and Ovals Original Die
* Stamp an image in Whisper White Craft (let dry or use heat tool to speed up the drying process) onto Basic Black cardstock. TIP: You may want to click on the card to enlarge the image so you could get a better look at the floral image. I couldn't get a closer image as it looked too fuzzy- sorry!
* With Watercolor pencils color over your image - using 2 shades of a color (with a definite contrast!), color lighter shade first, than highlight areas with the darker shade and build color on color. TIP: Be careful not to overshade with your darker color - it loses the POP without the color contrast!
* The 'twist' using your White Signo Gel pen add a bit of white contrast here and there and your image POPs even more - its so pretty and I can see I'll be using this technique more often
* Karen likes to create backgrounds using a smaller image and repeating them all over overlapping and close together. So the top portion on Melon Mambo was stamped with Melon Mambo ink using the circular 'damask' image repeatedly over the top.
* The bottom portion was kreated the same way repeating over and over and overlapping using the small floral 'damask' using Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White
* Hide the seam with a pretty 5/8" White Stain Ribbon
* Sentiment from Short and Sweet was inked in Basic Black and popped out with the Small Oval punch and matted with a black Large Oval.
* My focal images may appear shiny (they are, your eyes are not playing any tricks)- the large black oval and my flower focal image were each pounced in VersaMark and then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Oooooo, aaaahhhhhh!!
Isn't this card so pretty? I'm so happy to have learned this technique and I'm sure it will appear again on my cards! And I was lucky enough to get a Karen original when we swapped for each others card (thanks Natalie for giving yours up so I could give it to Karen - yours will be in the mail soon:) ). I was ecstatic (understatement!!) to know that she was looking to swap with me, she really liked my SWAP card here :)
She used the same Black Magic with Twist using the set from the Holiday Mini, Note to Self as well as the background was stamped with the new Medallion Background stamp. So pretty right!? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of this Black Magic with a Twist - would you like to see more? (I hope so!) Any questions, as always, email me I'm just a click away!

Gratitude and Thanks
Time to Play at PPA. Todays PPA challenge is a theme: Gratitude and Thanks. 'Tis the season of thankfulness and I thank God every day for all my many blessings.
I started this card with a new set I rec'd at Fall Fest, Wandering Words, from the Holiday Mini. The words that are wondering through the breeze all function to describe gratitude, so this was the perfect set to start my card.
Using SU Markers, Choc Chip, Creamy Caramel, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry, I colored directly onto my stamp. A huff of breath to remoisten the ink and then stamped onto Very Vanilla
Ran my image through the Big Shot with the Top Note Die (with my image toward the top of the die). Then ran Crushed Curry through with the Top Note too.
Took my Crushed Curry Top Note and ran it through the Big Shot again with my 'swirly/breezy' Background Texturz Plate.
Distressed my entire top note using Soft Suede ink and my dauber in light circular motions to add some color. Edges were given a darker distressed look.
Added the Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon (where are the dots you ask? Reversible ribbon, such versatility!!) to hide my seam and matted onto a Soft Suede standard card base.
Using my Large Oval Punch with Dusty Durango, I kreated my pumpkin with 5 ovals. The Boho Blossom Punch and some Old Olive scrap kreated my leaves. And with a snippet of scrap and my Paper Snips(scissors), I kreated my stem.
Since my Snips were out, I inked up the leaf from the Autumn Days set in the same ink color as paper and stamped out a few Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango and Rich Razzleberry leaves. Snipped them out and placed them around my card with glue dots. I'm still not sure this was the best idea? Too busy?? Anywho...
I'm thankful that you dropped by to see my kreation :) for it would be no fun without YOU :)
