Real Red textured cardstock base, torn piece of Whisper White, shiny black buttons, black velvet ribbon and a perfect little belt buckle. Quick card to assemble and no stamping required.

Here Comes Santa

He'll be here before ya know it! Hope you haven't been naughty, or this sleigh might be filled with coal! I had seen this template by Sherry Graves on Splitcoast Stampers, but the link has since been removed (so glad I had printed it out way back when). The sides of my sleigh are kreated with Riding Hood Red and my So Swirly wheel inked with VersaMark and then heat embossed with Hologram Highlights Embossing Powder (retired, but Iridescent Ice EP would be just as perfect to make his sleigh sparkle) And boy does this sleigh sparkle -'sparkle' just never photographs well :( The sleighs runners were snipped out of Brushed Silver paper - just perfect. The inside of his sleigh was kreated using a piece of the Holiday Treasure designer paper. Isn't it so cute!

I Do Believe

When I picture Santa this is the face I see. I love this stamp by Rubber Stampede and couldn't be without it even if he isn't SU. I was hoping for something like him when the present catalog came out, but the closest I can get to this face is with the Old Saint Nick Rub-Ons (Holiday Mini #112844). A Whisper White card base is decorated with the So Swirly wheel inked with VersaMark and then heat embossed with Iridescent Ice. Santa was inked with Riding Hood Red and the edges were sponged with more Riding Hood Red. Placed him on another piece of Whisper White and layered that on Riding Hood Red. Highlighted some Little Felt Flurries (Holiday Mini #113697)with a Two-Way Glue Pen and glitter. These little flurries are great accents and a GREAT deal, 69 total flurries in 3 colors and 23 designs- awesome!
I hope to continue to be very present here on my blog, but wish me luck (I'll need it), I've been asked to participate at a craft fair only 3 weeks away and I have a lot of stampin to do!!

Gift It?

Here is another gift idea. Not as easy as I thought it would be... stamping on porcelain that is. I picked up this plate for a $1 and figured why not try. I used A Cardinal Christmas set (Holiday Mini) and inked my cardinal in Black Stazon. I then colored him in using Ruby Red Craft ink and a Q-tip and then went over some areas with a red sharpie pen to add some shadowing. The leaves and branch were colored with Q-tips using Garden Green Craft, Certainly Celery Craft and Choc Chip Craft inks. The leaf stamp was inked with an olive Stazon pad I had purchased at Michaels and I added the berries with my Q-tip dipped in Ruby Red craft ink. The slightest movement of your inked stamp will smear your image - the lined image of the cardinal came out much crisper than the solid image of the leaves. But it still works, I think!?
Stamped the sentiment with Ruby Red Craft ink and then applied a Red Riding Hood Striped grosgrain ribbon with glue dots to finish off this decorative plate. Unfortunately after spraying with a clear sealant I had a little smearing of my words, but not to bad. I may have been able to avoid the smearing if I had heat set the plate after stamping on it and then applied the sealant - but I wasn't sure what would happen in the oven to a dollar plate. :) So I took my chances and just sealed it after a 24 hr period. What do you think, gift worthy or to the trash???

Home for Christmas

Yesterday, one of the gifts my hubby surprised me with for my birthday was a mini photo studio. I haven't had much chance to play with it- the lighting still isn't so good in this photo - my colors in this card seem a bit washed, but its getting late and I want to get to this post. I'll have to continue to play, so any of you expert 'photographers' if you have any tips, please leave me a comment and let me know! OK onto the card
I used the Home for Christmas set(Holiday Mini) and stamped the image in VersaMark on vellum and then heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder. This is called a stained glass technique hereyou can see the tutorial and card I had done previously with A Cardinal for Christmas set (also in the Holiday Mini). After embossing and 'raising' the image, I turned my vellum piece over and used various SU Markers to color in my image. I placed the colored image, embossed side up, on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock slightly larger than the cut out image. I then took my fingernail and 'frayed' and curled the edge of the Very Vanilla. Layered on Ruby Red and again on Old Olive. Placed a Riding Hood Red Striped Ribbon and bow around the Ruby Red card base and then placed my layers and image. Inked the sentiment from Snow Swirled in VersaMark and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Kept the card simple as not to take away from this pretty stamped image. Doesn't that door seem so warm and inviting??? Ahhhh, Home for Christmas :)

Tonight is project night, FUN! We will be doing tiles which you can see a set I've done here and a notecard/folder set which I will be kreating a tutorial for you in the upcoming days with my virtual pal Kris, Kween Bee Kreations. I'll keep you posted when you can expect it :) Forgive me if I don't get a chance to post for you tomorrow as it will be a busy night stamping away with the ladies. Turkey Rings

These didn't photograph too well, but really, they came out so cute (if I do say so myself :) ) My turkey came straight out of our SU demonstrator magazine and he is made entirely of punches - isn't he cute!(I left off the little pilgrim hat, and added that red 'hangy' thing under his neck instead - sorry I'm not sure the technical term, but you all know what I mean.) So I decided to attach him to a piece of Apricot Appeal, ticket punched the corners and then sponged the edges with Choc Chip ink. Placed two vertical slots using the Horizontal Slot Punch to kreate a ribbon tie to secure my napkin in. TIP: To accommodate the width of the Choc Chip 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon I simply punched my slot twice, moving it slightly to one side to make the opening larger. I used a retired alphabet set and stamped out my letters in Ruby Red Craft ink and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Voila' a little fun holiday accent. :)
